rendering a script of any mp4 cuts off the sound

Postby gotegenks » Sun Jan 22, 2012 6:33 pm

i can't hear sound on any conversion i do with vdub or zarx from a zarx mp4 script.

avis work fine, and mp4s are totally fine except for the sound. what's going wrong? is it not made to do that? i'm using directshowsource(file), should i be using something else?

[Re]install CCCP to get the proper audio codecs working?

Or better, frame-accurate methods, would be ffmpegsource2() or ffcopyrightinfringement(lol)

(they should be included in the org's plugin pack found in the AMVapp. Just save, unzip/extract via right-click, then install AVSPluginPack.exe as administrator, also via right-click)

EDIT: you could also try the beta version of zarx, which doesn't even depend on avs:

nah, i tried all that and still the same...ish, problem.
when i did the beta zarx, though, it gave me a video that had sound for 3 seconds with sped up video, and the sped up video was only spedup a little so it didn't finish in 3 seconds, so when the 3 seconds of sound was up the video continued at the same (faster) pace until the end. now though, there's a sound icon that hints the sound is working, just no audio, which is actually a change.

Use ffms2 instead, dss trowed some depressing desyncs for last project audio/video for me. >_> I don`t remember such problems while i still had pure 32 bit system with one core.

well, i never fixed this problem, but thankfully the videos i needed to fix didn't have any cuts in the songs, so i just rendered the video lossless and then put that in vegas and resynced the song and fixed the video how i needed it to be fixed and just rendered and encoded again. Quality took a hit, though...but i'm all good here, still would like a solution but i can just avoid making this a necessity in the future.

if ffmpeg is having problems with it, there might be something wrong with the .mp4 itself.
idk... perhaps try demuxing and remuxing the streams.

MP4 is always a pain, try to avoid it in general. Too many formats using the same extension makes it annoying to support properly on everything, hence why myself and other keep saying to just use MKV and support CCCP/MPlayer2 playback only.
