"No function named mpeg2source" on Win 7 64bit

Postby Castor Troy » Fri Jun 18, 2010 1:56 am

I just recently installed Win 7 64bit and have been running into this problem with Premiere Pro CS5 and Virtualdub 1.9.9 (64 bit):

I have the latest avisynth installed along with the 64bit version and I'm using pwolf's avs importer for premiere pro cs5.

When I use the old 32 bit Virtualdub 1.9.9, I can load my scripts just fine, but I've already gotten comfortable editing with full avs scripts. :?

Anyone got a solution?

You need 64bit filters as well, is your mpeg2source plugin 64bit?

I have no clue actually. Know where I can get the 64 bit version of it?

There are several plugins that provide mpeg2source, such as mpeg2dec, mpeg2dec3, dgmpegdec, dgindex, and mpeg2dec3-tc. None of them have a 64bit build. This is why 64bit avisynth is useless, almost all the good plugins are 32bit only.

One alternative may be to us vfapi and make fake avis instead of importing AVS files. It's not the same, but it maybe a good solution to get around the 32bit plugin block

So make mkv or mp4 or m2ts instead. AVC is good for you. You could also do y4m or yuv files if you have no HDD restrictions. Pretty sure Premier is ok with lossless AVC in m2ts. AutoDesk takes y4m really well, same for yuv, and their higher end solutions are totally cool with mkv as long as they're compliant with FFMS2.

Ignore Atari, vfapi and pismo and the other fake-fs setups are all really stupid and should never be used.

Find dgdecode in that list. Download and extract into your plugin64 folder.

Also, any 64bit equivalent to AMVIVTC?

AMVIVTC is a script, you just need the TIVTC 64bit plugin. search that list for TIVTC.

I was running into this problem as well. Thanks for the helpful info in this thread.

Just one thing though...is there a 64bit version of Deen? The 64bit VirtualDub doesn't want to load it.

There are better denoisers than deen available as 64bit, though... http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1374605#post1374605
HQDN3D, TTempSmooth, DFTTest, RemoveGrain, FFT3DFilter, and FFT3DGPU are all there. Deen is a detail killer and should be avoided. Actually, HQDN3D is very aggressive and should be avoided too, but it's still better than deen, especially when you lower/remove altogether the temporal denoising (tends to introduce temporal artifacts with it, in my experience).
