Well, for starters, screenshots of how the DVD looks could help a bit.
Chobits is a rather recent anime, so a wild guess would be that aside from IVTC, crop and resize (read AbsoluteDestiny & ErMaC's Technical Guides to All Things Audio and Video if you don't know what these are), it shouldn't need anything.
