Time Travel Paraphernalia

Postby pink haze » Tue Apr 28, 2009 5:19 pm

I'm looking for clips that remind one of time travel: wormholes, clocks, gears, hourglasses, stellar maps, etc.

The Catch: no advanced technology. Magic, old science and steampunk are fine.
Please name specific episodes or direct me as close as you can to the right clips. Nice animation preferred.

I've already been through (in order by alpha): Ef - A Tale of Memories, Final Fantasy series, Gankutsuou, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, Pale Cocoon, Princess Tutu, Petite Cossette, Noein, Serial Experiments Lain, Shakugan no Shana.

I'll probably take a look at: Big O, Ef - A Tale of Melodies, Generator Gawl, Ghost in the Shell, Noir, Shakugan no Shana II and maybe FMA. If any of you have edited with those before and know where to find my clips, do tell. Thanks ^_^

Bleach - The newer episodes (somewhere between 210-215) have some clips of a pretty cool looking ticking clock and might be easily used in an AMV. I believe the clip is kind of short though. The clips will be found within the first 3 minutes of the episode or the last 3 minutes. It is when they start looking at different histories of various characters of the anime.

Chrno Crusade - Sister Rosette wears a pocket watch looking device on her chest. It has some cool animations involving it, but I'm not entirely sure if it's what your looking for. The device links the lives between Chrno and Sister Rosette. I believe you can see one of the animations in the first or second episode when she uses it, but I am not entirely sure. If not in the beginning, then definitely in the last couple episodes.

Air Gear - Aeon Clock (part of Behemoth's crew) uses time as a weapon. He makes it appear that time has stopped. I think there was a fight between him and Kazuma that has an hourglass that was used. I'm not entirely sure how well this one will work for video editing, but it's worth a look. You can google the fight between Behemoth and Kogarasumaru and find out which episode this was in exactly. There could also be some good clips of working gears in this anime, but I might be getting ahead of myself and be thinking of the manga. I know that the manga has some good clips, the anime stopped at episode 26 though. :-(

Tsubasa Chronicles - I honestly have no idea if there is anything in this anime that you can use, but I know that it revolves around moving from dimension to dimension. Someone else might have a better idea.

Uchuu no Stellvia -
Another anime that I have no idea if there are any useful clips. I just remember it having very crisp and clean animation and revolving around space and possibly having the stellar maps you are looking for. Maybe someone else can help you with this one.

Awesome, thanks! I really wanted those clips in Chrono Crusade a while ago but it'd been so long since I watched the anime I didn't know where to look and couldn't find 'em. I'll check it out again and see if those other anime have anything to offer (although I haven't been impressed by the design work in Bleach lately).

Those are the kinds of things I'm looking for--time travely scenes without recognizable characters in them.
Small update: I'm going through Madlax now.

Hmm, well, Brave Story has some magic-esce scenes, tho I'm not sure if it's really got time travel...Only one I can think of right now that might really work. May come back with more suggestions later.

I'm assuming that this entire AMV was created from the anime Sola, but this guy used some great gear-moving clips... Might be worth taking a look into.

I know KARAS has some sort of time-traveling like thing, but I'm not sure if it's Revelation or Prophecy

Hmm...not sure if anyone watches this, but Katekyo Hitman Reborn!, the third arc includes time traveling to the future. Starts in ep 74.

Do you plan on focusing on one anime then or just time travel and such as a theme? Since u listed a few u looked into im guessing multi, if so heres something that might not really fit but eh.

Myself;Yourself - The opening has a scene with a clock and feathers going past it as well as a few other scenes that may be able to be used(not in your mind don't know how usefull the rest might be) but the opening might have some nice little scenes to use O:.

Code Geass - Just thought I'd add this one, altho also might not fit but when he gets his geass in ep 1 theres a clock and such and just some scenes that might fit, idk. Also another ep (i believe called "C's world" or sumthing like that) has c2s past and like a room in it with like picture frames of memories and stuff O:.

Hope sumthin there will work for you O: (if you use either in ur idearz here tell me and u get free op) O:
Feel free to send me your betas i enjoy beta testing =)

Hmmm...long reply. Important-ish info in pink for those who skim (I really like pink).

Googled Brave Story--I'll add that movie to the list, since I remember seeing some of the right sort of clips from it in music videos. Thanks, I didn't know that was it's name. I like movie suggestions (Karas almost counts), since they usually have good animation.

I think that's the wrong video (I see no gears). But Fotografia la Soledad does have some of those sped-up scenes of crowds and cloudscapes--those are often used to indicate time passing. I might make use of similar elements if I can find them animated. I'll take suggestions for that too, and other symbolic things I haven't mentioned or thought of yet.

Kazemon: I'm not looking for time travel itself so much as pretty time-travely scenes. That's why I'm not going to use Sailormoon or the DBZ Trunks movie (to mention some of my favs). Just so everyone knows--I don't know if this applies to Katekyo Hitman Reborn! since I've only seen artwork for it.

InsaneWaya wrote:Do you plan on focusing on one anime then or just time travel and such as a theme?
I'm using footage from multiple anime but characters from only one (that's why I don't need scenes with characters in them), and time-travel is a recurring theme.
Speaking of Code Geass--I know there's a wormhole-like scene in it, but I don't know where since I haven't watched it yet. Anybody know?

Thanks, we'll see ^^
Keep 'em coming. I'm not going to be done with this for a few months (I've already been at it for that long).

Lots of magic scenes in Tweeny Witches, along with a portal-type dealie and an interdimensional sea. Not to mention a fun and compelling anime with a very unique art style. We just finished the series and loved it. :D

Fate stay night has some scenes that could work.
I love to wear absurd and totally impractical garments. What's more, I derive great pleasure from spending time with women for no apparent reason.

Do ya'll know what episodes of Tweeny Witches, Fate Stay Night and Ah! My Goddess I should check out first, or what part of the series (or are they just full of time-travely stuff)? I was thinking about trying the Ah! My Goddess movie.
Update: Currently going through Code Geass.

Tweeny Witches and Ah! My Goddess have magic all throughout the series, so basically picking a disc at random will work.

*ponders a bit*

Episodes 9-12 of D.Gray-Man have a LOT of clock shots, as it has to do with a 'magical' clock that causes a town to be stuck in a time warp...
The first episode of the series also might have some clocks...
