Songs that haven't been beaten to death in a DBZ MV

Postby Telstarin » Fri Nov 15, 2002 1:40 pm

Well, upon reading the forums, I've certainly realised that alot of people here seem to have a very short fuse when it comes to DBZ Mvs using songs that have been used alot before in the past. Ahem, such as Linkin Park....

However, I don't want to debate that here, I just want to know what some of you guys think are good songs to use for a DBZ Action And/Or Emotional MV based on the History Of Trunks special.

I like songs with a good beat to work to, and are along the lines of what Disturbed and System Of A Down create. However, I am open minded and I will check out any suggestions. Please help me out here, I find it terribly difficult to find new music when I'm on a quest to make a mv...

Thanks in advance.

Heh, I'm a moron, I forgot to mention something for the people who have never seen History Of Trunks, and therefore would not know the types of songs it would match well with.

Hrm, well, its a pretty sad movie, with the good guys always losing and everyone dying so...a sad song would work, with a good beat for the action scenes.

Sorry bout forgetting to include that info, pretty airheaded of me
Anyway, thanks alot for any replies, I appreciate any time anyone would use to help me in my efforts to become a better AMV creator.

Wow! I beat klinky to it! Hooray for Sarah! Anyway, I would stay away from heavy metal or rock songs alltogethor. Those who haven't seen History of Trunks (Pink shirt, ha ha), don't need to see another DBZ action/fighting sequence. They are almost all the same. Anyway, I haven't seen it, but if you're trying to capture the sadness of it, I'd look for a sad Ben Folds song, OR if you HAVE to use rock, something like Nirvana should suffice. Please, PLEASE don't use heavy metal! If you found a good R&B song that fit the mood, I guess even THAT would be better than rock. If you're trying to make a name for yourself in the AMV business (well, it isn't REALLY a business, because we don't SELL them, right?), make something original and unique. Also, watch some other animes, especially some Ghibli films, because they have so much more character and would be so much nicer in a video. You wan't your viewers to not have to ask themselves if the music fits. You want it to be smooth and feel right. Like watching the anime. Also, if you're doing this sad, try to avoid the whole "nonstop blind emotion scenes." Make it tell a STORY, that's always a lot better to watch.

If you are going to tell something about an anime, even if it is for just for a suggestion, you should warn people about the slightest spoilers of a thing  Also, a lot of people are also against System of a Down and those types of songs. In other topics they give examples of songs like these. Perhaps you should try some of the older songs that were listed near the top too.

I'm sorry...

Gilthanas, I'm sorry for not labling this thread with spoiler, to be honest it really never occured to me
Surely I didn't give much away, though, and I never intended to 'spoil' anyones viewing, but at least it didn't tell the story...

Anyway, the whole point of this thread is I DIDN'T want to use a song by System Of A Down or <insert overly used DBZ band here>. So therefore I was only giving an example of System of a Down because I like the band, and there is nothing wrong with that :?

Anyways, thanks for the suggestions OhMyBelldandy009, I will check out a few of those bands that you mentioned.

The concept of making a video using the History of Trunks has been beaten to death.

I wanna see some good Vegetto dedicated vids.

I was thinking of taking the piece "Flight of the Bumblebee" and usign taht to DBZ and set the filters to black and white and put subititles like a silent film in it. Entiteling the video... "All of DBZ in two and a half minutes."

Throw in a gratuitous "intermission" slate a la Monty Python & The Holy Grail and I'd grab it for sure.

Use the Christian Lindbergh rendition of it, simply because a trombone playing that song is crazy :)
