Need sad song....

Postby Bushido Philosopher » Fri Nov 08, 2002 12:51 am

I'm sort of going for a really low tone type of music video. I want tears...

So I'm really just asking for a good sad song.....heh, oxymoron.

Some conditions, nothing that sounds like they're really depressed...like Creed or something - just a sad subject or mood. Also nothing that's boring. Some sad song tend to be actually boring, haven't you noticed?

Well ok I think that's it.....thanks for any suggestions.

Well, what anime did you have in mind? Also, how do you want to get the tears? Just tell us a little more about your idea. So far I can only think of one song, it's it's because I'm listening to it right now:

Burning Airlines - The Surgeon's House

songs rarley motivate tears, to my experience, it is in the visual that you need to motivate the song, and vice versa. Something I was thinking of doing but you might want to consider it too, is the song "Cry" by Faith Hill, it's pretty good and is a rather sad song that could work with a number of anime.

well i didn't really pick a certain anime for sure, so that's why....

but for now i'll go with either kenshin OAV (the one w/Tomoe) or vandread...

and sad meaning like death or tragedy...

Well, it helps to know what anime you're looking to use. I don't know if the song I suggested would work. It might for Kenshin, but I doubt Vandread.

Well yah, but I was more going towards a concept this time rather than to just make a video, so that's why I don't have either.

I just thought how stupid I must've sounded w/o saying that. -_-;

A good depressing song is almost anything from Radiohead. Those things make you want to crawl in a corner and cry.(well, for me they do, anyway) but that's not on death or tragedy. . . Another good suggestion is almost anything from Linkin Park's first CD. But, you know how overused those songs are.

Try using the Kingdom Hearts theme(that's sad if you really think about it. I mean, come on: "You don't here me say 'please, oh baby, don't go" that's basically saying "I've broken up with you. Deal with it.")

Or you could use the Ayashi no Ceres theme: Scarlet. That's kind of sad sounding. yet, most people don't use other anime songs for AMVs. I used to. I thought it was pretty neat. But that was way back when. . .

Anywho. . . Sad song, sad songs. . . If you're looking for "I broke up with you, now you're all depressed" About everything on Dido's first CD, Nobody's Angel(I think. Or maybe it was "No Angel") will work.

Those are just some of the suggestions off the top of my head. . .

Hey, if you want to go for something different, try Diana Krall - Why Should I Care. It might go well with Kenshin.

Oh OK. Those sound great but I was more looking for a different kind of mood.

Here are some examples:
Orchestral - Nearer My God to Thee (not w/any choir or singer)
Orchestral - Elen

I'll be happy to send these to anyone as they might be hard to find. It'll only take a few minutes since I have broadband.

ok, I don't have any cds with me hat are readable by macs, but i got a few songs that could bring an idea. As the Wired Knight said, your music and video have to be well chosen to bring us to tears. and would it be tears of happiness or weeping?
Seeman by Rammstein
Zombie by the Cranberries (with no vocals)
Legend of Ashitaka (in princess Mononoke)
Myung Theme (Cello version from Macross Plus)
Nothing Else Matters by metallica
Time of Your life by Greenday
The ending theme from Blood: The last Vampire
Tonight Tonight from Smashing Pumpkins
if you could only see by Tonic
there are a few songsa from Limp Bizkit that could be good, but I just don't remember which ones.

Good luck on your video

Oh, I was sorting through my CDs. . . Some really sad and depressing ones are found in the Final Fantasy IX four disc official soundtrack.
You can download them here .

(Try Freya's theme, burmecian kingdom, forgotton face, Terra, Branbal: the soulles village, you're not alone!, sorrow not fading, I want to be your canary, two hearts not captured, and/or prelude.[these are in order])
