Digimon AMVs?

Postby starwire » Sun Oct 13, 2002 7:47 pm

First off, I'm sorry if this was stuck in the wrong category. I wasn't sure whether to post this topic here or on the General AMV board, but after going back and forth, it looked like this board was devoted to more discussion of anime and less toward making AMVs.

I'm looking for some good Digimon AMVs. I've only downloaded one and it was pretty bad, so I'm hoping that some of you might know some that...well, don't suck. Actually, I'm hoping to find some good ones. There don't seem to be very many made with interesting music (very few incorporating music outside of this site's Top 30 list), which is usually how I decide if I'm going to go to the trouble to download any in the first place. Also, I don't ever see any being mentioned on the discussion boards. Surely there must be some decent ones!

Season 1, Digimon 02, Tamers, Frontier, the movie...I don't care. Despite the fact that most "hardcore" anime fans might dimiss it as a kid's show, I love Digimon, and I'm hoping that someone out there has made an AMV that will do it justice. So, any suggestions?

Also, I love reviewing AMVs, so consider this an open invitation for those who want an honest, fair, thoughtful, and critical review.

I used to like Digimon and I was thinking of making a Digimon M.V. but I don't have any clips anymore. I found a Digimon M.V. on Kazaa once

I know that there was at least one DVD released with episodes from the first season, and it was packed too (like, a dozen episodes, I think), as well as the Digimon movie, which is now widely available on VHS and DVD. Those look like 2 good sources for footage, and they might just be available for rent too.

You used to like Digimon? Does that mean you don't anymore?

Well, I don't know. Years ago when the movie was coming to theaters I was waiting and waiting, checking each friday to see If It had come to my town, which sometimes the movies just come late and it NEVER came. I had to wait for it to go on VHS and then I bought it the first day after going to 2 stores.

Way back I used to like Pokemon too...

I can remember looking forward to the Digimon movie, and then getting really excited when it finally came out. Thing is, none of my friends were into anime then, and I know they thought Digimon was just a cheesy cartoon for little kids. Obviously, I don't agree with that, but I knew that there wasn't much chance of converting them. I saw it by myself in its second week of release, probably the last day before it was pulled from all the local theaters. I don't think it did much business at all, definitely not as much as the first two Pokemon movies did in America.

To this day, it's probably the wierdest movie I've ever seen in a theater. The Digimon movie was just a horrible mess: 3 animated shorts re-edited, dubbed, and then crammed together into an extremely loosely assembled 80-minute movie. It was almost a surreal experience seeing it, particularly since I was the one and only person in the whole theater. On one hand, it seems kind of sad, but it was a real personal experience too that I'm not ashamed of. I still carry the ticket stub of it in my wallet.

Don't know why I recounted that story for you. Just felt like sharin' it, I guess. Also, you should make a Digimon video. I would make sure every Digimon fan in the world would download and watch it. Yeah, I'd do that for ya.

Can you rip footage from a DVD? Because the movie is widely available, as well as a DVD of a bunch of episodes from season 1. Those are the best sources of footage that I know of. Beyond that, you'd really have to search. It's certainly out there. Just depends how much legwork you'd want to do.

Digimon fandom is huge. There are more Digimon stories on fanfiction.net than there are of any other series. That includes Pokemon, Star Wars, Star Trek, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Harry Potter, Buffy... there are a lot more Digimon fans out there than you'd think. They want a good Digimon music video. At least I think they do.

Well, since this is about Digimon AMV's, I might as well present some ideas that could be used for a Digimon music video. They are:

* Linkin Park-"Pushing Me Away"

* TRUSTcompany-"Running From Me" or "Downfall"

* Sum 41-"Still Waiting"

Hopefully if someone reads this, they may have some ideas.[/list]

I'd LOVE to make a good Digimon AMV. Whatever season that's on right now is really good. I have to say though the 1st season of Digimon sucked ass, but the 2nd season, the one with the cards, was really REALLY good. Plus, Digimon has WAY more action then Pokemon could EVER have. I never got to see the Digimon movie, I know a lot fo people in my town went to go see it, though. I wasn't interested in Digimon at the time.

However, I am the VERY proud owner of ticket stubs to EVERY Pokemon movie on the FIRST day(Yeah, I know, I know). The first Mewtwo video was the best. Mew is my favorite pokemon of all time just because it's there, pink, cute, and strong. ^.^ Even though I don't watch pokemon anymore, I have to say to anyone: Go watch the 3th one, with Entei. That was really touching and emotional. The 2nd one was kind of lacking, with the world coming to an end, and all. The first one was pretty boring, too. But if you delude yourself that it's the best movie ever, it is. Anyway, go see the Entei movie. It's touching. And emotional. And. . . Even if you don't like pokemon. . . It's worth it.

. . . . Back to Digimon. I'll make an AMV on the second season focusing on that girl with the fox-looking digimon. The one that was so focused on fighting and had no care so her digimon couldn't evolve. The evil one. Yeah, sorry for my lack of names. I'm not thay devoted, but I still like it.
I'll make it after my "This is Halloween" from "The Nightmare before Christmas" parody AMV. give me a few eeks or so, a month at most, and it'll be there, unless I get wrapped up in a "side quest" I'll PM you when it's out/when I'm starting it if you want.

Coolies! I say go for it. But first let me set ya straight on a couple things. The girl you're referring to is Rika (that's her name in the English-dub version, though I can't remember her original Japanese name) and her "fox-looking Digimon" is Renamon. And actually, they're in the third season of Digimon. The first two seasons (Digimon Adventure and Digimon 02) tied together with common characters and a continuing storyline, which was followed by Digimon Tamers, the series that you're referring to, which introduced the cards as well. Tamers has nothing to do with either of the first two seasons, and to my knowledge, nothing to do with the current fourth season, Digimon Frontier (of which I've only seen one episode thus far).

Yeah, obviously I'm a big Digimon fan. Still have my ticket stub from the Digimon movie, which obviously wasn't as sucessful as the Pokemon movies were in America.

What music are you thinking about using? I urge you to think outside of the box and use something that hasn't been used before. Well-known songs can make for good AMVs, but I say try something new. I have numerous suggestions if you need some. Could send you a mix CD if you're interested.

If you've got any more questions or need to know anything at all about Digimon, ask me. If you need backup, look no further. :)

wh00t! I have a supporter!

I got Linkin Park's Reanimation CD for christmas, and was listening to it. There's a really cool song I'd like to use, but I'm debating between two. They've both got classical music, but one's only 1 mnutish long, and I know I can't pull of what I did with my "Cecelia" AMV, but I'm still debating. . .

. . . Now, I know what you're all thinking about linkin park and it's new CD, and how it sucks ass. Most of the songs do, but the songs I'm thinking about have a nice classical feel to it. . . Not releasing the names as of yet because I don't bloody know.

Starwire, you're the best. I'm making the Digimon AMV before my "This is Halowwen" Parody, however(This will probably make you happy), since it will take a shorter period of time then tons and tons of lip syncing.

Look to my journal for updates.

You're my new Best friend. ^.^

Need eps 105, 106, 110, and 114.

That's Ep 1,2, 6, and 20 of Digimon Tamers. ><;; I've only got 2 eps of source footage thta I need, If I've got time and the JSR/JSRF project doesn't take up too much time(If I'm even in it) I could rent it. . . I DID get a Blockbuster card for Xmas. . . Oooo. . .

Uhhh. . . Sorry, kind of rattling on, there. If you know where I can dl/buy those online(For kind of cheap) let me know.

Keep to the journal for updates on it.
