(Yet another) Co-op idea?

Postby BishounenStalker » Wed Jun 11, 2003 11:50 am

Ok, ok, I know the co-op's are on the rise, but I figure this one might be something fun and a bit original for everyone:

"I Love the 80s" project

I got the inspiration for it after watching VH-1's "I Love the 80s" special. What I was thinking was a series of AMVs set to 80s cartoon themes trailers, movie themes, etc.. i.e.: Vampire Hunter D set to the theme from Beetlejuice (either cartoon or film) or X/1999 set to the theme from the 80s X-Men cartoon series.

They'd be pretty short AMVs for the most part, and the audio wouldn't be hard to find (although most of it would have to be TV rips). There's a website called SoundAmerica that has a ton and a half of good samplings of cartoon themes.

Anyone interested?

If you want a ton of tv themes, try the "Television's Greatest Hits" albums. They have everything from early morning cartoons, to late night dramas. What would be really cool is doing an AMV of "Inuyahsa" to "The A-Team" theme, or an AMV of "Yu Yu Hakusho" to "Miami Vice", or "Kolchak, the Night Stalker" (an old horror/fantasy show, about an old independent newspaper reporter who researches and hunts down anything from UFO's to Vampires and Zombies).

TommyRude beat you to the 80's project idea. In fact it may have premiered already, though I'm not sure where...

I thought Tommy's 80s project was just 80s pop songs o.O?

Ahh, perhaps, perhaps. I'm not really sure of the details of the project. Pardon my ignorance

Random suggestion (I lack the source to do this one, but I'm sure others could)

Now...while this show started out in the 70s it went on until 83 by what I'm seeing so...
Anime - Gundam: 08th MS Team
Theme - M*A*S*H

Just a thought....

Yeah, I think the 80s Contest already out is for pop songs.

I think you could get some funny stuff out of TV themes, so...sounds cool. 8)

I have that TV's Greatest Hits CD. I would love to be on this project but I need to get my NES stuff done first. :p

Yep the 80's contest was just 80's songs..not themes and such..and I'd been giving this very same thing some thought, just never enough time to organize it myself..so count me in as well.

Just had another idea. What about a "Yu Yu Hakusho" or "Silent Mobius" AMV using the "Magnum PI" theme? Of course, the whole "Magnum PI" '80's image doesn't work that well with all the half-demon lesbians in "Silent Mobius".
