Looking for an anime

Postby Paul Kievits » Thu Mar 06, 2003 6:05 am

Ok I need an anime (preferably movie). This anime needs to consist of:

-character x being in love with character y and character y dumping character x.

-Because character x is dumped he goes crazy and starts destroying stuff for no apparent reason.

Actually the second condition doesn't even have to be because character x was dumped. An anime with two character who are in love and one destroying everything is even enough

... could I be any more vague?

While not exactly a movie, its all together movie length (kind-of), but I could see FLCL for what youre talking about. The youd have to use the video out of context. See, theres scenes where the 2 main male and female characters look like their kind of close on a romantic sense, and it also shows the male character kind of being upset at the female, and then of course, the female character is very destructive.

Thats the only one I can think of right now.

*ponders* FLCL could work indeed, it may just be a little too light and colorful. I need something darker, like X. I'll keep FLCL in the back of my head though, thanks.

...lots.....

if you haven't described SaiKano to a T I don't know what you've done.

And as for dark, sure. Hella dark, with color balance as well as emotional. I don't even know of any other show that the subbers have put anything like a "pain warning" on. This is a 13-ep series, but if you take the first one and the last three to four you should have enough material.

Gah! I cant believe I didnt think of SaiKano! And I'm in the middle of watching it too >_<

And whats better, is if you want to use it, get the R2 DVDs. They have English subs.

Argento Soma is centered around revenge due to the loss of a girlfriend. Around Episode 19-20 of Gundam Seed, one of the main characters begins to lose it because his fiancee pretty much ditches him for another main character for all the wrong reasons. I'm sure there are a few better instances out there, but those are the more prominent ones for me.

Thanks guys I'll check up on the anime you suggested, I actually haven't even heard of them  but I'll look around, if one of these is a winner I'll know who to put in the credit roll ;)

well, SaiKano and Gundam SEED arent available in the US (I THINK SaiKano is licensed though. I though I read something about that. It'd be released under the name 'She, The Ultimate Weapon'). and Argento Soma's 1st volume just came out.

If it isn't here it isn't licensed yet ;)

Saikano (a.k.a. Saishuu Heiki Kanojo or She ~ the ultimate weapon ~) has yet to be licensed.

Gundam SEED is rumored to be licensed

Arrrrrgggg Saikano will not work, there are no action scenes, and 75% of the video is supposed to be action oriented! That won't work...

Here's a new request: An anime where a character goes on a long trip and leaves a trail of destruction (like akira, but I've already done akira so something else...) There have to be like 4 love scenes in it (1 really long one will even do)... Any ideas?

You could posibly use Hellsing. It has some Destroctive parts and the girl seems to like the guy. I dont know if you could use it. But, who knows.

What about good old "Perfect Blue" ?

It's not exactly what you could call a love story, but the relationship between Mima and the Maniac has a strong emotional part, too.
Not to mention that Perfect Blue has a [b]really[b] dark ambience and the scene with Mima destroying her own apartment might work out perfectly.

You may also take a look at Sakura Diaries (classic love triangle) or Key the Metal Idol, but the first is a comedy and the second concerns only friendship in gernal, not love.

What about ...

Postby Beheaded_Samuray » Sat Apr 19, 2003 7:54 pm

Kenshin when leaves Tokyo and reaches Kyoto, and then fights with Shishio. I think that clip would be excellent and has more than four scenes (you have Kenshin/Kaoru and Shishio/Yumi) and if you want action, ufff, there are loads of it.

I just finished watching Mahoromatic S2 and the last two episodes may also work out for your idea.
They are very sad along with a gloomy dark mood and some action scenes when it comes to fighting.
Totally unlike the rest of the series, I hope you understand why I don't want to spoil more.
Hmm it was the most disturbing and unsatisfying ending since NGE and Nadesico...
