Serial Experiments Lain was full of bizarre imagery, though a lot of it made sense in context. Likewise, Boogiepop Phantom has some rather surreal imagery in it apparently due to the fantasies and psychoses of some of the characters being brought to life. (In one episode, for instance, they blanket the city with glowing butterflies.)

The Negima!? anime might work, it's by the same animation company that did Bakemonogatari and Magica Madoka, so you have an idea of what to expect.

Thanks everyone for their suggestions, they have been put to use or will be put to use in another time. I have awesome ideas for a straight up Cat Soup AMV lol.
