I'd nominate Serial Killer Mentality here too. Reason for this is the storytelling.. the way he used the material from Tsukihime to create a new story.

ImageShould get this award, it´s yet not very known here but it should really get an award ... it won the "akross contest" and therefor you can tell it´s great without even seen it. It´s one of the most artistic videos I´ve seen in a long time ...

Another video I nominated in this category is Requiem for a nightmare and morover it´s piano´s Secret Waltz, what a terrific masterpiece of MAD art ...

Amazing, I see people nominating this one for all categories but this one, which is the one category I'd nominate it for.

When I think Artistic, I think originality, I think of those crazy art class I took, I think of videos who's mere existance fly in the face of video making conventions. In short, I think Otohiko. Brouse his profile and take your pick.

Damn, I'm actually rather disappointed in this category.

It seems the vids and creators which I most would've liked to nominate either never made it to the catalogue (for instance, SergeeWITCH_AYES), or were not qualified for the contest (Kamoc, Dork457).

At least Kai Stromler is still there, to my consolation.

A reminder to all:

PLEASE.

Eye candy =/= Most artistic.

Nom responsibly.

I'd cast my ballot for Sex, Lies, & Roses.

A few of my recommendations for this category are:

Dunno Yet and Into The Oh both of which are made by Jebadia

and Bakadeshi's Eternal Sky

Now, I'm curious:

How do you define the "artness" of a video?
The definition for the category leaves this rather ambiguous.

***

The primary trend here I'm detecting is that of aesthetics vs. semiotic undercurrents, outward vs. inward.
Clearly, the aesthetic and outward side is winning in popular terms.

I'd rather see something that has a lot of inherent and optional symbology, rather than something that is a symbol as a means for itself.

To me, the view of art as based primarily on aesthetics is offensive.

The choices I made were base on how well the videos flowed from one scene to the next, whether or not they were abstract, and that they left you soothed/at ease. I'm sure everyone else has their own definition of the category. >_>

It's like enjoying abstract art or figurative art... not everyone like the same pictures...
I like Corran's definition
I'd like to understand what you mean here Otohiko, but for that I'd like to see some of your nominations for this category (qualified ones, I mean). Which video of Kai Stromler did you nominate, for example ?
