What categories does everyone want?

There is always a lot of discussion and debate about this topic. I think we need a brainstorming thread and hopefully AD can come in from time to time and shoot things down, ect

Best:

Action
Drama
Sentimental
Romance
Character Profile
Dance
Comedy
Parody
Trailer
Lip Synch

Those are the basics, I personally would also like to see:

Best Use of Effects
Best Use of Simplicity
(video would have to have the effects box unchecked or something along those lines)
Most Original Concept
Most Artistic
Guilty Pleasure
(we've needed something like this for a long time)
Best Epic Video (theres a slew of Berserk videos this year for example that are truely epic. Epic isn't nesessarily lenght, but rather the scope of the story imo)
Best Short Video (the opposite of epic in either length or scope of the story. Videos under 2 minutes or videos about a character that only appears for one episode are good examples.)
Most Innovative

I would really love to see everyone's ideas and more importantly I would like to see some of these ideas actually make it into the final catagories as apposed to the last 3 years which have been pretty much identicle.

Best Storytelling

I forgot this one. Its tough to tell a good story in 4 minutes and furthermore, good storytelling represents the pinnacle in editing acomplishments. Everything must come together VERY well in order for a conprehensive story to unfold and I think it warrents its own honor.

Also another I forgot, Best Editing. Simple enough.

The problem with Best Use of Simplicity is that you'd still need to verify that all the videos were simple and didn't just leave the box unchecked for no reason, and 'Epic Video' is hard to define, although I agree with you that the Berserk videos do qualify for them.

I want to see a Multi-Editor Project category this year, recognizing both the short (TCP, RoS, etc) and the long (Animix, RVG, DDR4)

I asked for Best Adult AMV about 3 years ago, doesn't seem to be a popular idea though.

We wouldn't want to age discriminate, you see.

I did suggest Most effort, but not thinking when I suggested it.

I guess there is no real way to determine how much effort someone TRULY put into something.

Touche' but then again.

There are quiet a few animes that no matter how hard you try, you can't get the anime to look good.

So it's really a chance on who uses the best looking anime.

They haven't approved or rejected my idea yet, but it's a kind of sticky idea to describe.

Genre-Maker
(going from memory here)Any field of artistic endeavor has a few creators that invent new ways of seeing or performing that create a new genre. From Monet's pointilism to Aluminum Studios' star-wipes, these styles become so copied that they become passe. Before that happens, let's take the time to salute the most talented genre-maker of this year.

More or less the idea I had, but I started to thing it was mostly covered by "Best Technical" or even "Best Editor"....:(
Life's short.
