And for the record, the CascadaThon word will be extended at the end to transition into Kazemon's track so it won't dissapear so quickly so you have a chance to read it. XD

Okkkk.. I like where it's going. I really do. It fits pretty well with the overall "feel" of the project.

But, I do have a few things I'd like to complain about.

1) Font for "A-M-V.org MEP" is way too plain. I understand the need for it to be "readable" but even a transparent PNG photoshopped font image would look much better.
2) The masks on the freeze-frame characters like LittleAtari/Kazemon look very jagged around the edges. Plus, the images when freeze-framed look really blurred and pixely. Try doing the masking in photoshop for the freeze-frames and save in high quality PNG for a sharper look. But if you don't have photoshop, paint.net or even GIMP are free options.
3) The wordering of "An A-M-V.org MEP" looks really disjointed and rough. Perhaps "A TwilightChrono and LittleAtari Production" would sound better.
4) I love the placements of the editor names, but can we get sakuras light an actual character? Her name on a terminal seems a little out of place compared to everyone else.
5) Is it just me or is Chrono Crusade's footage AR off? Plus, the quality seems weird with it too. [By the way, I love how my name Code is on a character named Chrono. xD]
6) Also, the continuous .hack//footage of aura awakening seems a tad slow for the scene. I think some varying footage in there would do it better service.

That's everything I wrote down while watching it. This is just how I feel, but several of them is just me being picky about minor things.

But it looks really great thus far TC. :awesome:

Thanks for your input. I'm glad you like it. And as for your character being Chrono, that was planned form the get go with your old name in mind XD Don't think that was an accident. I planned on giving Sakuras Light a Character. I just wanted to get a full beta done and then get back to tweaking after everyone who wanted to see it, saw it. Chrono Crusade's AR is off. However, I'm not so good with resizing and cropping to the 848 x 480 or any other size for that matter without having the AR off. Even WITH instruction. I am still learning when it comes to that.

As for the .Hack part to the slowness. Aura awakening and all that, I really like that there, because when the sky and ground changes color, it's to that echoing moan sound Cascada makes at that point. So I like that there.

As for photoshopping or doing the pictures like you said at still frames where the masks are.....I have photoshop, but don't know how to mask in it yet. And I can't figure out how to make the still images any more hq than they are. So, if anyone wants to help out in that department and do those images for me, it would be a big help.

And, I'll try and look for a font that fit's the opening. Perhaps "A TwilightChrono & LittleAtari Production" would be better than "A 2009 A-M-V.ORG MEP"

Perhaps I should use AE and come up with a cool way to have that phrase appear.

crop(0,60,-0,-60)
lanczosresize(848,480)

That's what I used for my track. Im pretty sure as long as both ends add up to 120, you should be ok, so you can change the numbers around if it isnt centered the way you want it. (Correct me if Im wrong, anyone.)

Anywho...

* Some of the scenes have black bars on the sides, so be sure to crop those out of the final.

* Im sure Kaze will be pleased with her character rep XD

* Codes rep thingy lasts for a bit longer than everyone else's, so it flows differently and feels a bit of. (And no Im not just jealous *cough*)

* NO. IM NOT GETTING SHOT IN THE HEAD UNLESS ITS FROM PERSONA. Can I choose my own?

* Wait, why is Vivaldi shooting me? I dont even know him D:

* 0:30 (From where Sousuke[?] shows up) to about 0:32 seems slightly off timing wise.

* 0:34 The scenes from this anime just dont click with the rest of the vid to me. Actually, thinking back, I cans ay the same for 0:21-0:28. Half of the vid has a fantasy kinda feel, while the rest has a more realistic (I guess) feel. I think you should choose one or the other, and personally I lean towards the former.

* Out of curiosity, what are you using for screenshots? Because I do agree that they look blurry. Virtualdub is good for getting high quality shots.

I know I mainly just picked out stuff I dont like, but I really do like where it's headed, lol. Will the song transition with the beginning of the mix well?

LMAO!! Hahaha. Ok. Clarification time:

Yes, I chose Kaze's Character for that same reason. Not a coincidence.

Vivaldi has a gun to your head, because you 2 or in competition for best track. Not to mention that I was running low on beats to add more characters. And would have over-lapped into the bigger beats where the meat of the intro comes in. But if you REALLY want a new character the anime's I have ripped are:

Kannazuki No Miko, Fullmetal Panic: T.S.R., .Hack//SIGN, Godannar, Vandread, Vandread Second Stage [Disc 8], Black Cat, Witchblade, Buso Renkin and Chrono Crusade. Pick one. But I'll tell you now...I don't have a lot of room and thus removing the character your currently assigned too would force me to redo everything after your character.

Don't be Jealous XD I'm doing what I can XD

That's a will do on those black bars.

Yes, the song will transition into Kaze's track just fine. I tailored the instrumental to do exactly that, and I think It would anyway, since I got it from The CascadaThon 2 MiX that Craig sent me........oops.....did I say that out loud?

Thanks for the advice. I'll try that. With the cropping.

Wouldn't you just have to to redo mine...?

Anyway, Kazuki from Buso would be cool, preferablly non-Victor Kazuki.

Drag clip into Virtualdub, section off the frame you want, Save Image Sequence, save as 100% quality jpg.

I honestly question the need for an intricate credits opening for a 7 minute mep. I mean it's only 7 minutes long and then we got end credits. I also think Kaz's track sets the mood pretty well on it's own. I mean Memory Flash 2 freedom was 10 minutes long and didnt have an opening sequence. All it had was 'AMV France presents' and 'Memory Flash 2 Freedom' tracked onto the footage. I just feel like anything really big before the first track would take away from it. It also just seems pretty repetitive if only 7 minutes later, the audience is met with credits again.

I mean, we can do it that way if everyone wants. Just the name of the Coordinators and The Name of the MEP, but that just seems so Blazzay and lazy to me. If everyone really wants to do it that way we can. But I rather like what I have going so far. So really, since this has now been brought up, what does everyone else think? Keep going with the intro? Or Be Blazzay? XD

Re: The Final CascadaThon Thread [Final's Due November 15th]

That wasn't half bad. I think Tari makes a good point about this being redundant if we're showing credits at the end, though. The mix linked in the first post starts with Kazemon's track, after all, and I think it sounds fine that way. For some reason, I keep assuming the compilation will run longer than it actually is, so it didn't even occur to me how little time passes between the opening and ending credits. I actually wrote up this huge breakdown of your intro before I saw Tari's post, so even though I'm actually in favor of cutting it out of the project completely, here are my thoughts about it (in case more people prefer the longer opening (also to show off my verbosity and make me actually feel accomplished having typed all of this out)):

- The start feels really abrupt to me. Maybe start the footage a little earlier (like when the sound begins) and make it a slower fade?

- I like Code's idea for changing "A 2009 A-M-V.ORG MEP", but to add to it, I'd suggest giving the text a slow, horizontal scroll to make it a little more noticeable. That would also make the shot feel less static.

- In fact, you should do the same to the rest of the titles. I don't mean exactly the same, of course, because not every title would benefit from moving horizontally, but play around with the motion a little and see what you think looks good with it. You've already got a zoom in going on for the actual title of the video plus a drift in Code's name, so adding movement to the other words would help unify it a lot.

- Is that the very beginning of the .hack-sky-opening-up clip? If you can extend it a bit at the front, you can cut out some of the Aura-opening-her-eyes clip (specifically some of the early frames where her eyes are closed) and then start the sky-open at the beginning of the phrase (somewhere around :12). I like how you've got the burst matching the feel of the moan, so make sure you don't lose that.

- The editor names go by really fast. It took me three viewings to actually read them all. I'm not sure how you can adjust for that, though, since you've blocked out a good space for them. Maybe just making the text more eye-catching will help.

- When you put the names in, did you add them in any particular order? If not, I would suggest showing names according to whose tracks appear first (using an editor's first track if they edited two). That would help tie the opening sequence in with the main project.

- While I'm on the general subject of editor names, you left Dar out.

- You, Kazemon, and blabbler's splash screens last two beats, but Neverend's runs for three. It throws off the rhythm you built up with the first two names, and it could confuse viewers. How about trimming some off of the opening of Neverend's shot and scooting blabbler and Code forward a little? Doing that would also give you more space to transition from Code's name clip to the alternating clips flashing.

- Speaking of Code's clip, I think it's kind of funny, I think it's kind of sad strange that you start with Rosette shooting her gun before showing Chrono himself. I think it would make more sense if you focused on the character who represents Code for the whole scene, rather than tossing out red herrings.

- Heh, I'm Tessa.

- The "Cascadathon" here disappears way too fast. I would extend it maybe a second longer on the nameless side to give the viewer a chance to read what it says. Another benefit to dragging it out is that it ends at a natural point in the music, rather than the middle of a phrase.

- I like that this first appearance of the title zooms out, while at the end it zooms back in. Balances it out pretty nicely, I think.

- I had the same reaction Hagaren did when I saw the bright and colorful robot anime pop up here. It stands out so much from the rest of the video. Fullmetal Panic also sticks out a lot with its similarly bright colors, so maybe find a more... subdued-looking show, I guess? Something what looks similar to .hack and Chrono Crusade. The other show(s) don't appear long enough to make that big of a difference (or maybe it's just that you chose darker scenes from them).

- On the subject of changing anime, maybe instead of random characters that match the editors, you could select characters from the anime we edited with to use. I'm sure it wouldn't be that difficult for us to send you clips of whichever character you/we decide matches us.

Of course, if everybody else agrees that two credits sequences are more than we need, then you can just ignore this massive post. Might be good to look at it if you end up doing something similar later though.

Another option (in case your VDub doesn't have the Save Image Sequence option) is to navigate to the frame you want to save and select 'Copy source frame to clipboard' from the Video menu. Paste it into your image editing program of choice, and you won't have to bother with compressing it at all.
