Am I the only one that thinks at the very end of the video after the credits are over, there should be a full screen shot of the Geico money stack STARING INTO YOUR VERY SOUL?

Also, I didn't have the chance to read every comment (saw the Deuce is having issues with the harddrive) but I think we should leave *out* the AMVS3 credits at the start.... or, if we want that sort of gag, have it cut to some anime dude watching TV (with the Salad credits on the TV) after about 10 seconds then have him change the channel to "cold open" AMVS4. Possible, yes?

I like the idea of another Geico at the end. Perhaps that would give reason for a fifth clip. Ever since I mentioned it earlier I've kind been hoping for an 'end clip' now.

And I thought the AMVS3 credits were just there to simulate if this happens at the end of AMVS3 in the cons. If not, then yes, Deuce, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD GET RID OF THE AMVS3 CREDITS! If it was seriously the thought process to put the entire AMVS3 credits at the beginning of AMVS4, then I won't even be gentle, starting off with the credits of the previous one (unless you are playing them in the same video) has got to be one of the single dumbest ideas I have ever heard. It is not amusing in any way, shape or form, and has no context whatsoever.

I agree with you InspZenigata that it could work as a gag like that, but it still wouldn't be worth it for the relatively minor laugh (if they find it funny at all) it could possibly bring about. I apologize if it sounds like I'm touting my Sony POS clip here, but I really don't see a reason why it shouldn't start off. The attention-grabbing onion music was designed for just that, so I don't know why it wouldn't work.

Ah, I think you misunderstood me. The Case Closed clip was in the Katsucon AMV contest, which was back in February, and the reception to it was kinda lukewarm at best. I don't think most people "got" it. I know I didn't and kinda still don't. But I went to the AMVS3 screening at Katsu and it was a big hit.
AMVS4 is supposed to be beta is supposed to be premiering at Anime Mid Atlantic, which is next weekend. I wish I could go to it but me and my friends can't afford to do both it and Otakon, since they're so close together.

Ah, you're right, I did misunderstand. My apologies. I'm glad to hear AMVS3 is still filling the AMV Hell void ^^ I'm still angry AMV Hell never played at Otakon, but then on the flip side, that may not have left the opening for AMVS to step up and thus get me off my ass and finally make some parodies. I hope this year more creators than just myself will be in the AMVS3 and 4 screenings. I still think I was the only one who saw it at Otakon.

Oh I understand :) Actually, and I probably should have said so before, my suggestion would be "if we want some sort of between AMVS3 and AMVS4 gag". The Onion opening actually works quite well, but it seems Deuce wanted something before that as a connection...

*shrug* At this late stage I'd actually think the Sony POS thing is a wonderful "cold open".

Also... RE: attendence. I've tried to make each Tekko panel for the past three years (that's how I heard about it in the first place), and I think I caught the Katsucon '09 panel. I've seen a decent turn out for AMV Salad before, so I'm surprised Otakon isn't similar. If I could afford Otakon, I'd go.

I understood you meant if it were as a connective tissue type thing, and I agree that it's a worthwhile idea. If they were in the same video file and just playing one after the other, it may be worthwhile, but then you'd still have to play the AMVS3 credits in their entirety either way, so it may probably be more confusing than anything to play the credits then play them again to cut them off ^^ It's a good idea though, I wonder if there'd be a good place to use a gag like that with more stand-alone context.

As for the turn-out, I meant that I was the only AMVS3 creator that made the 2009 Otakon premiere from what I understood last year, so I felt all lonely that I couldn't celebrate with you guys ^^ I mean Deuce mentioning that people are gone by the credits was completely alien to me, because nobody moved at all. We reeeaally should see if we can bring credit length down though for both of them. I'd even like it if Deuce could make another AMVS3 version that removes the Gunther clip like Krvabo wanted, and speed up the credits a bit more.

It may be interesting to coordinate meeting up somewhere, either during the parodies (I think they have seats reserved for creators), or just grab some dinner somewhere quick between events like at the Subway on the corner. Every year I go to either that Subway, or the one a few streets north-east first thing and grab a footlong coldcut and carry it around for my meals. Cheap and keeps me from having to stop my explorations of the con at all when I chow in the lines ^^ My two friends and I will be there Thursday night and we always kick off the trip with a nighttime exploration of the bay area, so if either of you will be there and want to meet for some dinner I'd be up for it.

EDIT: The re-rendered version of the logo is available here: http://rapidshare.com/files/395129377/A ... t.rar.html

Let me know what you all think of the change. If any more are necessary, I can probably do one more version just fine, the problem is it takes 14 hours to render because I was too lazy to fiddle with the reflection settings, so every letter reflects every other letter ^^ I'll adjust it later if need be. Anyway, fire away.

...if that's true, it may be worthwhile to consider the possibility of removing the eyes. If it's simply shaded faces like the anime, then that could alleviate it, since it's directly from the source and has a preset context. But if you caught it that quickly too, it might adversely affect the audience. I don't know. It seems to come up because the source audio is comparing families, and white faced family vs. black faced family is what the audience seems to be unintentionally guided toward. There's quite a few black people in the audience at Otakon too, so as sad as the prospect is that it would occur that way, it might be smart of us to take that seriously.

.....Well, shit. O_o I NEVER saw it that way... but I guess that's because I'm rather... intimately familiar with the series (I made about forty Ouran videos summer of 2008 even though some of them were very short parodies >_>;; hooray for giving your brain a break from the 10 hour a week German cram course). I'll work on removing the eyes... probably just edit the original image files to erase them (though I'd like to keep the last one for "I need a smoke" because they are tears - if it still looks weird I'll get rid of it). What's the timetable here? I suck at checking back here for updates, and I've noticed that it's gone through some revising, so I hope I'm not holding everyone up. If I seem to disappear, send me a PM because those come to my email.

Do you need a studio logo from me? (I always kinda lol at the name "studio" when it's just me in my underwear/pajamas surrounded by a mess of papers and dishes from the day before...)

EDIT: Do you need another GEICO clip?? I just got a fantastic idea.... although the timing/spacing out of those looks pretty good the way it is, and another may be overkill... :<

It may work, but my worry with leaving only one of them with eyes would be that since it's the last one, you may unintentionally harm your punch line by causing the audience to think "Why does that one have eyes??" so I don't know. And were you going to shorten it a bit to start at the "I want to keep peace in the family" part? Timeframe-wise you have a good week to take care of it, since Deuce's computer is fried right now, and AMA is the 13th I believe. Our final, final cutoff is the 25th I think. Chances are we'll have to send in all our clips again if he can't recover his HD.

As for a logo it doesn't have to be a studio of any sort, just something that represents you. So of course it MUST be a picture of you in your underwear with papers and plates around you ^^ Make some nerds happy.

As for Geico, right now the four clips rock, the only reason I was suggesting a 5th is for post-credits. I mean right now the Money gets burned to a crisp, so it makes sense. If we were to do a 5th, I think that Pokemon one should go after the credits, for the demise of the Money, and the only way I think we'd get away with a 4th is to change it up a bit from the usual punchline of Geico, like have a character in a strange situation hear the music, and then just bleep a curse and cut it as the character has a dejected face, like "Duh duuuh, duh duuuh duuh duu- F#$@!" and just cut it off there. Not sure that'd be funny, but I think you can go ahead and share your idea to see if everyone thinks it'd work.

Do we have any word on Deuce getting a new HD?

Also, in case none of you noticed I posted a link to the re-rendered logo above. Please check it out and let me know what you think. I have time for one more adjustment before AMA, but only if it needs it really, since it kills my entire night on my computer (that's not really an issue, since it means a night on Tales of the Abyss with good excuse ^^).

From Deuce:

"l'll address this in full once I have my computer running again. The beta isn't gonna be the one I wanted for AMA but the most recent beta will have to suffice. I can't turn the project over since I have all the source video in my email. Rest assured Otakon will get the best Salad possible. I should be back online within the next week if Western Digital can stick to their end. Tell everyone I'm at least 10x as stressed as they are. :("

Sounds good, but as long as he's got the clips he could get a version done in a night before AMA, he wouldn't even need credits yet, since he can just say 'we hit a snag, credits will be available for download after Otakon' or something. I have some changes to my clips I need to get to him, I don't want to do the transfer before I know he will be able to get them, so I'll just wait. Hopefully he has at least a night or two to get the clips in order again.

Ya, I'll have to reupload my stuff, since I had it stored on my own server and took it off after he had them.
