KojiroShinkara needs to send me a non-Quicktime version of "Doctor Swordfish."

So far, in terms of material, we have a little more than eight minutes without credits or intro. If you have anything to throw into this project, get your clips in ASAP. I'm extending a two week-long grace period for those who are still working on theirs. After that, it's all about post-production.

I have a clip or two to add myself so I'm in the same boat. ;)

Anyway, it looks like AMVS4 is going to be an addendum to AMVS3 (a cheap ploy to extent the life of the latter but whatever). Here's the idea I have. I'm going to speed up the ending credits for 3, place them in a title screen as we did for the beginning, it's going to introduce AMVS4 briefly and the "channel" is going to "change" like the viewer is looking for something else to watch. The end will come with the viewer "turning the TV off" and saying something about how there's nothing worth watching anyway, then the end credits for AMVS4 will roll. The song will be "TV Dinners" from ZZ Top.

If anyone else has any solid ideas to throw my way, please post them here for general consideration and discussion. There are a total of 15 clips so far so I'm not sure if there's time enough for a running gag. Anyway, time is growing short...

so does that mean that I can submit up until the 14th? I have finals till next week, but I'd definitely be able to finish by then.

Just know that after that date no more submissions can be accepted. Need time for post-production and to get it to Otakon before their deadline. ;)

With that extension, I can guarantee another few clips. I'm going to attempt to do the music ones I have in mind. Both of them are short 10-15 second ones, on top of the 4 I've shown you, and I'm finalizing the fifth 1-minute long one tomorrow. It came together well and I found a fun little ending that made me and the friend who was there with me laugh for a couple minutes when I accidentally discovered it ^^ As of this post, lip-syncing is half done.

I may actually manage the two brief songs, one other smaller clip, and if I'm really ambitious, get that 1:30 long one I mentioned done since unlike most of my other ones, I know where the footage I want is for that one. Again, I'm attempting to reduce its time, but it's a pretty full clip. I'll keep at it though.

If you make it an addendum to AMVS3, it'll definitely bring it over 30 minutes even if I don't get to the 1:30 one. May as well call it something different either way. Oddly enough, I think it was you who used AMVHell 3.14, weren't you ^^ Such irony that it would be the perfect name for this one. Maybe you could take a page out of the Naked Gun book and call it AMV Salad 33 1/3.

If it makes it to around the 12-minute mark, which it looks like it can with the new clips en route, wouldn't it be okay to let it be AMVS4? The only issue then would be deciding on a quick running gag. It doesn't have to be an extremely present running gag. "Smoke" was totally fine for AMVS2, in fact it's the best one yet. If it becomes part of AMVS3, you'll have to consider some new Adult Swim bumps. Oh, and you'd HAVE to do something with Robot Unicorn Attack ^^ Even if it's just the unicorn sprite running through the opening with the announcements, and the announcements quickly switch to "You will die a horrible, fiery death" like in the game, then returns to the announcements. Actually, you know, if we could get ahold of the sprite, Robot Unicorn Attack could become the running gag.

Honestly it doesn't seem like you need to do anything special besides use the AMVS3 file and place the newer clips in appropriate locations to maximize joke delivery. Then gag about the fact that it's basically an extended AMVS3.

Congratulations to moonbunnychan for coming up with this year's running gag. I'll save it until I release the beta. You won't see it coming until it's too late. XD

And Gaelstrom...I'm still gonna carry on with that idea for the closing credits (the email over the PA thing).

This year's Salad is gonna be pretty awesome...

Gotchya, I'll be sure to get to that video for you. It'll be fairly fast to make, but I will need to find more footage for it. I'm gonna ditch one of the shorter ideas I have unless I can miraculously find the footage I thought existed, but doesn't seem to. I'm hitting a wall with my first short music one, as there's limited footage to work with, but it's about 70% done. I'll let you decide if it's amusing enough when I send you a version I think will work. I'll have it for you tomorrow so we can determine if I should move on. My second music one will take a matter of an hour or two after ripping the DVD since it's a pretty quick gag.

You still want me to move ahead with my second long one? If I start before the 7th I should have enough time hopefully.

Thanks to Honou_Miko for the generous contributions to this year's Salad. We are expecting a few more so we just might have enough for a standalone video after all.

Re: AMV Salad 4: TV Dinner (FINAL WEEK!!!)

Great news!

I just put a very rough sketch of AMVS4 together and, so far, I estimate this video will run somewhere around 21 minutes on its own.

Here's the deal. The opening is gonna be pretty simple: a transition from the AMVS4 promotional trailer to a Slap-Chop commercial which starts out talking about not having salad in your diet. The AMVS4 titles will come in around the middle of the clip and fade out roughly two seconds before the "first" clip plays.

So I've decided to tack AMVS 3 & 4 together as a continuous video for the version shown at conventions. I should have something to show you all sometime next week so, if you still have clips to send in (Gaelstrom: I need you to send final versions of everything you labeled "Test" as well as the fixed version of the Baddman clip) I suggest you do so as soon as possible.

Excellent stuff so far, people! We're on our way...
