I might have posted about this before, but I'm claiming...

Title: "Scrubbed"
Audio: Scrubs theme
Anime: Elfen Lied; Bludgeoning Angel Dokuro-chan

Got some very nice entries but WE NEED MOAR!

Remember we can also accept "regular" clips but we could sure use theme material as well.

As for this year's running gag,...if I don't see one from any of you or come up with one myself, I have an idea some of you might recognize. It's gonna look like a "scene missing" kind of thing but it will literally be a running gag. Watch this video and you'll see it:

http://nostalgiachick.blip.tv/file/1907308/

If you think this would be good enough, please say so. Otherwise, I'm open to suggestions. Time is running out...

Being objective about it, Nescaflowne already did it, and it only really works in the context of an actual progression of intertwining events, which we won't be working with. So I don't think it will work the way you truly want it to.

As for suggestions, honestly you bringing in Nostalgia Chick made me think of the possibility of using Nostalgia Critic lines here and there as potential gags. Honestly I don't have any reason to think that's any better, but the Quest For Camelot Mary Poppins moment was simply epic. Him screaming and shooting something always gets me honestly, kinda sad how easily amused I am at that.

What you could do is do something slapstick based. Honestly everyone loves the slapstick of something going "*click* BOOOOOM!!!!!" so what you could do is do a running gag of the cutest, sweetest, most harmless shows like Azumanga, Sugar Fairies, maybe some Digi Charot or something along those lines and have scenes where they do something innocuous and cause a massive explosion of some sort (not the 'beep beep bepp WHAT THE FU- *BOOOOOOOOOM* one, but something like... search for "Youtube poop: The Juhoker Meets Claude Speed" on the tube of you and watch it. I'm a big fan of youtube poops personally, whether others are or not, but there's some awesome explosion timing in this one. They happen in the last half, this is also where I got my click-boom for the Gundam Wing clip last year.) It would have to be mixed up a bit, and with some creative thought, you could make the explosion itself a character of sorts.

Just try and take stock of what worked about "SMOKE" and "Adult Swim." You don't have to think of something extravagant, since the smoke one was so simple it was perfect. We could also do something quick in the last month like 'head on.' That could be the running gag as well.

If you want, I think butting heads over this with different people will generate something over time if you start soon enough. If you'd like to chat with me send me a PM with your screen name if you're on MSN or AIM and we can toss around ideas. You can chat with any number of editors and get some ideas.

I am working on getting footage for my clips and then going to move forward. If anyone knows a place where I can get raw episodes of One Piece from earlier on, please tell me... and.. er.. ya know... any type of source if you know what I mean.

I don't understand how this works. Do I download what you have currently, add whatever I think will fit, and send it back? Or do I just send a clip I think will be helpful?

Send clips on their own. This is an AMV Hell-like project where we compile everything we have, piece the whole thing together according to how the clips flow into each other (grouping "regular" clips together, commercials / TV themes, etc). I assume you read the initial post on this thread..? Rather important that you do. ;)

Bottom line: BE FUNNY!

Well...If YOU're the one posting the shit together shouldn't I be telling you that?

Anyways, maybe something like this will work. Image

Hare + Guu also seems like a good choice. And maybe some Shin Chen. I can't promise I'll look into it, but if I do I'll help.

Is there a list of shows that have been used three times?

Just checking before I start going crazy with my That 70s Show entry. 'Twill be tricky, but... if I post here that I'll submit it, I can't back down on myself like I do with half my projects. XD

I think I have two Family Guy clips and that's the closest anything has come to the series cap. Go for it! I'm thinking that, if I don't have enough material to reach 15 minutes, there may have to be a rethinking on how to format this year's video. I'll get into it more later.

As for everyone here, we will have SIX WEEKS of post-production time before the Otakon submission deadline. There are FOUR WEEKS left from this date until the AMVS4 cutoff date so get on it, y'all!

Deuce, like I said, once my demo was done I was going to go full force. But it's done (nearly done) now after a friggan month of nothing but technical difficulties, and as I promised I'm going full force. I want to get at least 6 clips done of various length, and that's not all the ideas I have, that's just my goal. Since I'm unemployed for the time being, 6 hours a day for this, and... the rest to Final Fantasy XIII and Resonance of Fate...

<.<

>.>

Don't worry, I'll get it done :)

Come on, ya'll, let's kick this pig! PROCRASTINATORS UNITE! ...after we get some food!

Hmm that's not a lot of time left..
I'll see what I can do, but I can't promise anything.

I want to make some improvements to my second submission, and I've got a small idea for a normal vid.. Dunno if I can finish my other idea which I started a while ago.

It's a shame I have an internship now, so except for weekends I have like, no time at all.

I'm gonna line up whatever material I have that is going into this year's project and see how we're doing for time.

Depending on what comes in by the deadline one of three things will happen:
1. we'll have enough to create a standalone video.
2. we'll be too short for a standalone video but have enough to "reformat" into an "addendum" to AMVS3 (changing channels after the DBZ clip "to see what else is on").
3. we'll postpone the release of this year's video until we come up with enough material for a proper video.

I've heard from a couple of you opting for the third outcome and I'd hate to miss an Otakon premiere because we couldn't get enough editors to unite under this theme. Still, it's up to the lot of you. I won't know which way this is gonna go until the deadline (which I realize gives me room to extend a "grace period" of up to a week) so let's roll on this.

I also realize AMV Hell 5 is also in production but things seem to be going slow for them as well. Their deadline is in July, too. Anyway, I have a couple of clips to work on myself. Let's move...

I'm attending Otakon so I was hoping to see it...I'm still hoping to do another clip (about 30 seconds). I need to get a move on!

I can promise several, two shorter ones are complete now, I've sent a preview of the second to your e-mail to take a glance at as well, Deuce. I still have half a month while sending out applications to hammer away at this, and have every intention of working my ass off up until the deadline (and beyond if I can) to make as much worthwhile material as I can. I plan at least 2 minutes.

But no matter what happens, please, PLEASE submit AMVS3 again this year ^^ I can promise you as a fanparody audience member since 2001 that I have no problem seeing funny stuff again. It only showed once at Otakon, so a second run would be awesome, especially as a lead-in to AMVS4 if it does end up happening. Plus it still seems like I was the ONLY one in the room that night from the creators of AMVS3. On top of that... with the exception of the big 3 or 4 fanparodies like Otakudom and such, really very few of the other ones are often funny, so anything actually funny, even if it's a repeat, will lead to a grateful audience.

Plus if I have to deal with the "Timeless Chocolate Milk" scene again from Leebop, I will slit my wrists. And that was the most amusing scene it had.

So is there a unifying element yet, Deuce? Do you have any worthwhile ideas that have crossed your pallet yet?

Wow...the clips I've seen so far have been quite amusing to say the least. Keep 'em coming! I'll be in NYC from Thursday morning until Monday evening...doing up Broadway!

See y'all in five days after my break from reality and sanity recharge...
