I'm pretty sure I've already commented on ex's and kaze's track in the past. I won't redl and comment again unless it's been changed or told otherwise.

Arashi-
I'm prolly gonna come off as biased when I say this but this whole thing feels rushed and sporatic, I don't know if that's just your editing style or what. A few parts that I really liked though are 0:22-0:32, 0:38-0:43, and 1:00-end. The ending is intense and great. The problem I had with everything else is lyric sync and randomness, well 0:03-0:07 is ok IMO though. Everything else cept for the brief clips of the simulated past feel like you could lift them up and move them around on the timeline and it wouldnt matter any cause they are only there for beat sync so it seems. A quick example would be in the beginning we go from him standing in water or the sky or something i can't tell, then all of a sudden to a hospital where he looks down the hallway then to a random other event that is placed somewhere near the end I think in connection to this one. There's almost no coagulation here untill the parts where you follow the lyrics pretty well. I don't know how much source you have to work with either though.

The simulated past parts work for the most part cept the hospital one, the mood and scene just didn't match there with that aggravation lyric. I don't particularly like that noise/grain you got goin on either (looks ugly, might work if done differently) but that's being picky. IMO a slighly shaded or greyscale like the one you got with edge feathering (elliptical looks better then sqaure) would probably work better since you don't use noise or grain anywhere else in the video and it's not synced to anything.

Definitley like the ending though, I can see why you won't change it.

Let's just say I exhausted my source as far as usable clips go. :S

Well I wasn't exactly expecting everyone to post their thoughts directly in the thread...but I guess it's alright. lol

@ExSphere - I think I remember you mentioning something about the audio quality of a track or two. I think I heard it sometime a few days ago too. All the uncompressed WAV's were given to me by exedata who said he ripped the CD's himself. I don't actually own the CD's so I can't rip any of the music. If you or anyone does, and wants to replace a seemingly bad audio clip, go ahead and send me the file and I'll swap it.

@LA - Show me something by Wednesday, that's about when everyone else is showing me their betas. As for mixing, I should be good on it, but if I like your beta, I can give you preference at this point as to what part of the song you want in. It'll have to be around the same time frame though (~1min or so). Also, if you happen to have the CD to rip the song from, that'd be great too. haha

@Track 3 People - Reda is also taking a whack at the track. You all have until Wednesday to turn in your betas. I should make my decision on who gets the track by Thu or Fri.

As for the cropping/letterboxing, it's been like a year since I've looked at/into the rules. Like I said before, if there's anything that you guys think should be changed for the greater good, just let me know and I'll look into it. My AMV tech knowledge is way too rusty at this point.

I won't be available all weekend because I'm taking a trip to le mountains, so I'll be checking back on Monday. Just a heads up.

I'm actually gonna have to letterbox my source now anyway. The edges are freaking horrid on this DVD thanks to the interlacing, let me put it this way: If you fullscreen every edge looks like a fucking staircase, I should of just baught the damn bluray.

So ya mine's gonna end up letterboxed now.

i must be a dunce when it comes to lip syncing because i thought mine was spot on. :? he even blinks right on beat. and the emotion on his face when he says "i wish i could disappear" matches with him witnessing the destruction of the city.

i'll check out the other suggestions when i get off work

The sync is spot on. The issue with it is their is no movement in his face at all, and his emotion just looks kinda blank. You could keep it in there and still pull off an amazing track, but I think it would look better with another scene in the background of that fire.

mk.... i'll stew over that for a bit, maybe i'll come up with something better :nose:

@eva-fan - "don't you regret you met me?" that lip sync is sick. unfortunately i kinda makes the others not look really good :/ and thus kinda down plays "regret you met me". i'd change the first lip syncs in some way. either by taking them out or replacing them or something. i'm not sure. <-my only gripe. rest looks good.

@kaze - your stuff is the shit, can't wait to see it complete.

@arashinomine - i don't really understand what's going on, but the fast pace gives me a lot of energy while watching so i can deal. maybe it requires several views for me to understand everything.

Eva, on multiple viewings, your track is just way to slow in general like all the way through.

edit: never, from :39 on is the only place where it's REALLY to slow, the rest is alright..

I can help you with video quality if you want, it looks really grainy and gradiented (I've never worked with that source), I can't tell if thats from encoding or not though. It shouldn't be, the bitrate is fine. Either way it's up to you, it could easily be improved. I'll comment on the editing later, I really like this track though as a whole, the mood from the scene choices works well.

Silk: The action sync is great but I can't make an opinion on this track till I see more.

Edit:

Well I don't see this as a dragonforce MEP. I'll admit you guys seem to be doing some pretty high speed cuts and tight sync. If you want me to do that I can but the music just doesn't feel fast enough to get me into that editing mode it seems. I'll try editing the track like that and see what happens but no guarantees. If I don't like a highspeed ending like you guys have been suggesting I may go back to a slower ending. The lyrics just don't fit a fast ending at all but the original definitely lacked intensity which I intend to fix somehow.

It's not just the editing. You're picking some really slow scenes when there's lots of action scenes to choose from. I can see what you're going for but it comes off as more lazy than thoughtful.
