I really don't see what the big deal is about that lip sequence, it fits the lyrics and rage pretty well IMO. It's a little jumpy cause of some framework I had to do to get it to sync better. I doubt I can make it perfect but it was the best part I could find on my source to get the lyric sync there. CGI lipsync is the really tough and I was amazed I could even get it to look that good.

Well I guess I'll try something else there but If I can't make anything that I like better for that spot then I'm keeping it.

sure, whatever. I just said what was bad about the track and How I suggest trying to fix it, that's all.

edit: and the only reason I'm really critical about lip sync is because I've been working pretty deeply with it recently.

edit again: watched again, the only lip synch that doesn't fit is the very first one, the look on his face just doesn't fit the song, The other ones I can deal with, but that very first one..

I think nighthawk said the same thing, I'll consider just not lip syncing that part and leading into the other ones from the clip before it some how, I don't like that zoom there anyway. Still though I'll see if I can come up with something all different there before I keep it since it's receiving alot of crit. I knew I wouldn't get it perfect, maybe it's best just not to lip that if I can find something else to do there.

It's just a mep track. I wouldn't be to concerned about adding a story into it. A character profile works, but you have to take into consideration that not everyone has seen the series and know's this character's back story.

I uploaded my Beta. Everyone else seems to have the full track uploaded but I'm only uploading what I have edited. I'll be putting the time stamp in the file name as I update it. I'm currently at 00:21 and slowly inching forward. It may have a few issues but at this point I'm not sure if they're imaginary. Please point out any little detail that doesn't mesh: bad effects, awkward transitions, scene selection, etc.

Ah right, I forgot the tracks were uploaded on the site. Duh me.

I'll start downloading now.

Edit:

Hm, okay.

Silk - I like the overall editing so far, but for some reason, the footage doesn't give the "umph" feeling with the "Hey!" lyrics. Maybe try something a little more for that? (Btw, really liked the clip choice at the end of the beta)

Arashi - I told you what I thought over aim, but unsure if you got it. So I'll post what I said over aim. I like the editing and the overall scene choice and flow...but sometimes the black flashes on the beats dont seem to work well. The ones at 0:05, 0:43 and 0:57 don't seem to flow as well. Maybe you can try on the beats, something else for those, or maybe not fade it all the way? Those look darker than the rest of the flashes. Also, some of the hardcuts at the end disrupt the flow.

Evafan - Same with everyone else....the lip sync doesnt really work. Even though it does fit Haseo. Having seen the movie myself, maybe you can try more of the other action scenes, as well as battle with Ovan or TriEdge, syncing to the beat and lyrics, like you did in the very beginning?

Kaze - Too many blanks, you suck, stop messing with keyframes, I know they're fun, but quit it! And get your butt on a better program besides Elements! .....wait.

I'll mess with the flashes, but I don't really plan on changing any of the cuts toward the end.

Thanks, I'll take that into consideration.

@ RiderG - Nice and solid. My only recommendation is that you make a stronger connection between the scenes at :22 and :30 since they're so similar. Otherwise it feels redundant.

@ Arash - No complaints except that I can't compliment it either. It's a good video, edited well with no real mistakes. but it doesn't stand out. I haven't seen the movie so I can't really give any advice.

@ Kaze - Goodness, what a dark anime. Darker than Black? I haven't seen it but it must be dark for there to be so much dark in it.

@ Eva - Ditto on the lip sync, but I've got some different advice. If I were you I'd take out the first two lip syncs altogether. Not because they're bad though. I'm sure you can improve them. But to me, the fact they're there really takes away from the sync at :10. That one is really decent and I think you should maximize it's impact by making it the first lip sync in the video. The editing switch was turned off after :40 seconds so I won't talk about that until you finish it.

I pretty much echo whats been said about eva-fan's track so far, seems very under edited and the lip syncs look kind of retarded. Also, that isn't a 4:3 source, .hack movie is 16:9

I see what you did there. Very funny.

Oh yeah, thanks Arashi, for pointing that out. The movie is supposed to be widescreen, unless, you cropped it full? I can't tell.

@NH: I'll try to get you something this weekend, unless you just want any beta. Let me know if you want help mixing the track or something.

The sides have been cropped off from 848,480, if you couldn't tell then I think it works. The DVD quality is really helping the look so far. I'm trying to help nighthawk by keeping the same AR as the MEP and besides I haven't run into any problems with the bit on both sides missing yet.

Quality isn't that great, just fyi. Also, he asked you to letterbox, not crop.

I noticed it on the rules but I talked with nighthawk about cropping the sides way back last year when this started and he didn't have a problem with it, I don't care either way. If he want's it 16:9 with borders then I'll do it.

Edit:

That beta is from raws. I had my track finished near the beginning of last year except for some FX, I just got my DVD's in yesterday and it looks exponentially better.
