Wat the hell. O_O
well the quick run down is that Pearl Harbor was the event that entered the USA into World War II if that didn't happen, then we as a country would have probably sat back and watched what happened... Now if you take that into consideration, it "united" the USA to have one common goal: Defeat the "Axis of Evil" that is very similar to the rhetoric being spouted around about "Defeating Terrorists"
9/11 Launched the USA into "The War on Terror", if it had not happened the American public would have probably not have "united" to help further Bush's "war for oil" *ahem* I mean "on terror"...
If you think about it this way, both were attacks on US Soil and both launched our involvement (or at least maybe more active involvement) into an era of war... I have had several friends who were afraid that 9/11 meant the beginning of WWIII. O.o
"The War On Terror" may not be exactly "World War II" but it is still a conflict that America's public took it's pansy ass time on, even if we had been politically and militarily involved for a very long time.
Granted, the means/reasons for the war were different, but in some cases both occurrences are somewhat similar.
Note these are not my comparisons particularly, but things I've heard and read about around the time that it happened.
