Re: WAFV OFFICIAL THREAD (Track 9 and 12 open, PLEASE take 'em)

Postby Vax » Wed Nov 26, 2008 10:28 pm

Forget about that track D:
Don't have the right anime that'll fit it and lack of motivation and choice of anime.

Edit:
Ahh, don't mark that down just yet. I'll try.
I really can't pick an anime though I this point. I'm debating on Afro Samurai or Voices Of A Distant star, though I'm leaning towards Afro Samurai because it has the scenes for when the song starts to kick in. Somebody help me :(

Unless you can keep the massive amounts of gore and sex out there's no way Afro Samurai is appropriate for this MEP >.> So try Voices of a Distant Star

Well I was thinking about episode one when he goes off to fight and his son not wanting him too, but not showing the actual fight. And I tried Voad and drastically failed. I'll try again though. And did you listen to the track though?

I just did. If you were gonna ask me on AIM which anime I say would fit best, well for me Romeo X Juliet comes to mind. The relationship between Romeo and his father could fit IMO. I would try it myself but I'm booked with Project Editor and that mello MEP, as well as an independent project <.>

Bitch! If you saw the message why didn't you reply. Well anyways that wasn't what I was going to ask. And I don't own Romeo X Juliet so that might be a problem. And I think he wants this beta soon. I'll see if I can borrow it from somebody that has it D: If not, I guess I'm stuck with Voice Of Distant Star.

*note*
I'd like this project to be done before the 1st of next year. So yeah the quicker entries the better.

EDIT*
how in the world did I miss ally's post? weird. Anywho, Ally, be sure to work an audition as well along with vax. The more options we have available, the less chance of losing an editor and spending weeks looking for a replacement.

That reminds me...REX!! Where is Rex?

Well I have to study all this week (mostly reading things I haven't read yet) for my finals starting on either Thursday or Friday.
On about Wednesday of next week I will be going home again and possibly not back to my apartment until January. I'll have my laptop but not my pc which as of right now is the only thing that isn't having trouble with everyone's final videos.

so I have one of two options. 1) get someone to edit all the finals with the audio mix and then send it to me so I can add the into/credits or 2) just live with the fact that this project won't be done in time for qualifying for 2009 VCA and deal with this after January.

Thursday is study day for my college and possibly no classes that day. So those who are auditioning please get me something on that day. And someone take rex's track because I'm tired of waiting for a reply from him/her.

If you want to put the MEP for the 2009 VCA (whatever that is, but it sounds interesting), then I can take a shot at helping you put it together so you can send it on time.

Except I have no idea how you're gonna transition between the fullscreen and widescreen footage...

thanks goodness you came back. now that you are back I'll set a deadline of 2 weeks. And thats for everyone no matter what you are turning it.

Kazemon, if you are really up to it I, or the other editors who kept up with there final, can start sending you the finals on Saturday. To answer you question, the only problem I seemed to have with videos was if they had widescreen bars or not. For that I just used one video with bars, took a sceen that was pure white (from track 15 by Code), made white screen video (like replacing green in a video with the image behind it in the editor), and place this over a video with nor bars. I of course stretch the video to fit and double checked that it didn't looked stretched.

I will still attempt to pull of something with my laptop as well, if I can settle the problems with it.

*edit* yay 777 post on the thread!!!

I'm not quiet sure what you mean by white screen. Maybe if you can send an example or something I'd understand better. lol.

Sure, I just recently got a 1,000 Gig external hard drive, so I gotta put something on it... lol.

Step one.
I picked a video with wide screen bars where the video is almost completely white
Image

Step two
I cut that clip out (be sure to duplicate it and put the copy back into the original place
Image
Step 3
Use editors video effects to make the video into a "Whitebox" video.
1. Use contrast controls to make video completely white taking out all other color. (make sure you don't white out the bars too or it won't work.)
2. In my editor, you simply click on "white box" (some editors use a differnt term which would fall under a "color keying" section in the editor) and anything white will disappear and display whatever video is under it, therefore, give video under it widescreen bars.
*notice* the video shows up as just being black when I copied this image so don't let that confuse you.
