OpenAMV - A collaborative AMV Project - Register Now

Postby Zarxrax » Fri Feb 08, 2008 7:32 am

This project is now started: http://www.animemusicvideos.org/phpBB/v ... 46#1099846

I would like to propose a kind of amv project that I believe has never been attempted before.

The concept begins with a group of people working together on a normal-sized amv (a few minutes in length).
After having a list of people who want to be in the project, we simply go down the list, and each person gets a crack at the amv.
After completing some work, they post it up, and the other members can vote on whether or not it is to be included in the project.
Members can revise and build upon the work of other members, so there is potential for some truly interesting things to come about. The voting system will hopefully keep it from turning into nonsensical drivel.
As only one person at a time can work on the project, it may take a while for the video to complete.
Members would have to remain relatively active in the ongoing process, to watch and vote on the ongoing changes.

The overall goal is to create a "democratic" amv, wherein all aspects are voted upon and controlled by the members. If new people want to join in the project after it has begun, existing members vote on whether to allow them in. If people think the video is complete, we vote to see if it's complete. If someone is a slowpoke and holds up the project, or doesn't contribute much of anything worthwhile, they can be voted out.

I think this concept has some interesting potential, in that I'm not really sure what can come of it. It could end up a miserable failure, or it could end up being one of the best AMVs of the year. In any case, I think the process itself would be more interesting than the outcome.

In order to join this project, one must have solid understanding of technical aspects, access to *good* quality video, and access to advanced editing software such as Vegas or After Effects (no windows movie maker here, sorry). Of course, such rules could be changed by majority vote.

So, this is just an interest gauge for now. Who might be interested in working on such a project? Would you work on it regardless of the song choice, or would that play a key role in your decision?

Sounds pretty interesting but I'm not sure if I'd want in. Pretty much depends on the music choice too I guess.

How will you choose the music? I think if people can agree on a song (which is going to be the question with the most possible answers) that'll prove whether or not the whole democracy thing is going to work right then and there... or were you planning on choosing the song?

How do you choose the music?
