But yeah make amv's for another 2 years or so, you will eventually fade out of wmm and think to yourself, "I want to try another video editing software", you may go to adobe's premiere, or sony's vegas, hell even ulead studio is decent.
However when you do choose one of these applications, you will be slapped in the face harder than a chinese hooker who doesn't get paid.
Mp4 and Xvid, these two codec's will be your bread and butter, when you realise this and accept it into your life, you will understand why all this bullshit was said by everyone here.
Please don't reply flaming me about this or that, i'd appreciate it if you didn't reply at all, then I know you took the time to at least try and fathom this shit i'm typing.
Now... after all that...

But see, you don't understand. When people send you their segments (and I KNOW you aren't going to do this, this is all hypothetical so you'll understand) in WMV, you're going to have to put them on your timeline in your editing program. Now, assuming that even WORKS (WMV is not a codec designed for editing), when you arrange all the tracks and export the final video, the quality is going to look like horse shit because WMVs aren't high-quality to begin with, and re-compressing an already-compressed source is going to make the video look even worse than it did before.
If you don't understand this, I will again refer you to this. Just read it. It applies to AMVs in general, not just MEPs. It ensures you'll get the highest quality visually and aurally. It explains the difference between different kinds of codecs. It explains all the vital information you need to make an AMV. I'm not shitting you, just read it
