I've been toying with this idea for a while now, and with the very recent overhaul on my computer, I feel more confident throwing the idea out there.
Idea
A project to tribute all of that gorgeous videogame footage and great stories. Any game of Japanese origin (meaning, anything that's .org-able) will be allowed.
(Oh, and "Videogame Project" is just the working title. I'll come up with something better/take suggestions. I don't want this confused with the VG Projects.)
Music
Still not sure on this one. I haven't found any long mixes that trip my trigger, so I'm thinking of just letting people use snippets of their own songs (between thirty seconds and a minute and a half, I figure).
Footage
This is a little harder than other projects, because not all games can be ripped - unlike DVDs. Because of this, I'm expecting that anyone who joins will have a working knowledge of Avisynth. If you don't, you have plenty of time to learn. I'm expecting footage to be ripped (refer
here for some help) or captured (
high quality only). Absolutely
NO DOWNLOADED FOOTAGE.
However, I'm not without sympathy here. I've both ripped and captured games, and I know that the latter can be very time-consuming. Let's say you're capturing Kingdom Hearts II, for example. It's a relatively long game, and I know that you're going to need time to get all of the capturing done. Hence, the interest gauge. Assuming I get responses, it'll still be a while before I post an official thread, so this gives any potential capturers time to get their job done or started.
Expectations
I'd like to allow anyone into the project, but please know that I am expecting
high quality editing. I don't care if you use After Effects or Windows Movie Maker - you should still be giving me a top notch product with your best effort put into it. I reserve the right to boot anyone from the project that I don't think is giving me that much. I'm very passionate about videogames, so I want something great out of this MEP.
Anywho, seeing as how this is just a interest thread, I'm going to leave it at that. No technical stuff for now (I'll be needing some help on it, anyway). I realize that most people say that you should be a part of a MEP before you head one, but the last three I've tried to join have failed - and I'm getting a little sick of waiting for one that
will work.
So, here it is: the Videogame Project thread. Please consider it, and thank you for reading.
