I decided to make the instructions a pictograph:

Deadline: August 1, 2007

What is AMV Hell 4?
AMV Hell 4 is the follow-up to AMV Hell 3: The Motion Picture. It is a multi-editor project that anyone may join. This will be THE FINAL AMV Hell project.

Overview:
- Before starting, make sure to watch AMV Hell 3 to get an idea of the types of videos we are looking for.
- Anyone may participate.
- You may create as many videos as you want.
- The length of the project has not yet been determined. We will be more selective about what gets in this time.
- All videos must be funny and well-edited.
- *NEW* The video must use a song (with or without lyrics). This means no commercials or comedy act audio. However, a few AMV themed jokes without anime are acceptable.
- All videos should aim to be less than 30 seconds in length.
- Videos should use anime or manga to drive their humor or strangeness.
- Videos must be fairly safe for general audiences.
- There will not be logos on the videos this time. Do not put them on your video. There will of course be credits at the end of the project with everything spelled and identified perfectly; I’m sure.
- Do not post your videos on animemusicvideos.org or any other public website before AMV Hell 4 is completed.

Technical Guidelines:
- Videos should have good video quality and MUST NOT CONATIN SUBTITLES (unless they are self-made and intentional). Videos may also not contain the DIVX logo. DVD quality video is recommended. If the video quality of your video is not good enough, the video may be rejected.
- Videos should be in 640x480 resolution to save time compiling the project. If the video source is widescreen, then it should contain black letterbox along the top and bottom in order to make it 480 vertical. Refer to the guides to do this.
- Videos should be in AVI format, compressed using any one of the following: Huffyuv, Lagarith, DIVX or XVID codecs. Videos compressed with DIVX or XVID should be encoded at constant quantizer 2 or 1. Do NOT use special features like B-frames or GMC.
- Audio must be stored as UNCOMPRESSED.
- Videos that made it into the final versions of AMV Hell 3, AMV Hell CE, and AWA 2006's SAST contest are not eligible for participation. However, videos that were entered into other MEPs within the last year are eligible.

Submission Guidelines:
After you make a video, SHOW IT TO SOMEONE (not us, yet) so they can tell you if it could be funnier or edited better. If no one besides you seems to like it, then maybe you shouldn't waste our time with that video. Please note that although we say you should show it to someone, DON'T show it to THE WHOLE WORLD... just a few friends or something. If your friends seem to think it’s a great video, then you can go ahead and send it to us.
Information on actually submitting your video can be found at this page: http://amvhell.com/hell4uploads.html
Make sure you give us a valid email address when you submit your video. After you have uploaded the video, wait at least one week before deleting any of your project files. If there is a problem with the video, or if we think it could be improved upon, we will send you an email. If you have any questions about your entry, or just want to make sure that we received it alright, you can send an email to amvhell@gmail.com and we will get back to you. Also, please try to keep a master copy of your video in case we lose it (hard drives do crash).

After we have checked over your video, we may respond with some suggestions for improving it, so don't delete your project files until we say the video is good. Please note that there is NO GUARANTEE that any video will make it into the final project, and the list of videos that make it in will not be known until the project nears completion. We are considering making a deleted scenes reel, or something to that effect, but this is not set in stone yet.

In Brief:
1. Watch AMV Hell 3 to get an idea of what we want
2. Make a < 30 second AMV (new videos only, don't post them on public sites!)
3. Show it to a friend
4. Make it better if it’s crap
5. http://amvhell.com/hell4uploads.html
6. Wait until you get a reply before you delete anything

See you... in Hell... 4.

I nearly wet myself laughing.
And God spoke unto the Chicken, and He said: "Thou shalt crosseth the road", and the Chicken did cross the road, and there was much rejoicing.

I've read the first post here (and the first page) but I can't be bothered to read though 17 pages of this, so forgive me if this has already been answered.

I know that anime-esque videogame cutscenes (Final Fantasy etc) are acceptable as anime, but is gameplay footage from a sprite-oriented game acceptable?
Specifically, Mega Man Zero. Like in this AMV.
