"If It's Really a Horrible Record-It's Bound to Be a Hit." - Tony Burrello
He was speaking about 50's music, I'm speaking about AMVs. I'm willing to bet the same principle applies to both. As you may know Sailor Earth started a MEP that ended up being little more than a chance for people to intentionally make horrible videos. That MEP got locked as not being 'good enough for anyone'. While the reason it was locked is probably true, I had fun with it and I'm sure others did to. So I'm starting a new MEP who's sole purpose is to let you be as horrible as you want. Hopefully we'll have a hit on our hands. Odds are we'll have something that none of us wants our names associated with. Either way, it's time to have fun.
Rules
1) Please try creative interesting horribleness. We've all seen horrible Naruto vids with no sync and no point. Lets not see another one ok?
2) No more than 2 hours of editing per video allowed. If you're spending more than a couple hours working on it then you obviously don't have a handle on what the term 'horrible' means. Similarly, No more than 60 seconds. If you're making more than 60 seconds then you're taking the thing way too seriously. Besides, if you can't suck in 60 seconds then you can't suck period.
3) No limit on formats or sizes. If it's a format/size that I can fit in the MEP I will, quality be damned. If it's a format/size I can't then you get cut. For this MEP not only is quality *NOT* job #1, it ain't even an option. Hell, depending on how many entries I get I may have to butched video quality just to get under 100 meg (what, you think the admins would make an exception to the 100 meg rule for something that's horrible? Yeah. Right.)
4) Must be acceptable for local OR the person who makes it unacceptable for local must provide hosting for it. *EDIT* pretty much all of the things submitted to date are org acceptable. There are a few questionable bits. If this doesn't end up going way out of bounds for the org I might end up slapping the orgs logo over questionable bits and hosting it locally. Let me know if that's a problem.
5) Deadline is Sept 2nd. Yes, it's a short deadline but come on, we're talking about two hours of editing MAX. Besides, I doubt I'll remain entertained by this enough to run it longer.
6) When you post a segment include anime/song info so I can enter it into the database correctly. It'd help if you name the file 'username - video source - audio source' so I can organize them easily but it's not required, I can rename it when I download it.
As far as getting videos to me you can catch me in IRC and DCC it to me, put it on your own hosting, or just use YSI. As long as I can get it I don't particularly care how.
*EDIT* I have a YSI account so it doesn't matter but just to point out, you don't have to log on to YSI to upload and if you do it that way others won't have to log on to download.
Note: Originally I said it was fine to include videos done for Sailor Earths MEP. That's because I thought it was dead. Well I was wrong, it's now been released. I don't wanna duplicate segments so if it was in her MEP I won't include it in this one.
Also note: This isn't meant to insult Sailor Earth, it's a homage to where the idea originated. This also goes for any segements using Sailor Earths profile image. It's a homage NOT an insult. Ok? I don't wanna hear about how we trashed her. We didn't. We just paid tribute to her original MEP thread, although in a very unusual way.
