AMV Salad: With More Crunchy Bits! Complete!

This forum is for the announcement, organisation and discussion of Multi-Editor AMV Projects.

Okay, kids...go back to the first post and re-read the guidelines.

They've been amended to reflect more along the lines of a "project" than a "contest."

This shouldn't affect the quality of work I know you are all capable of. Remember...this is intended for viewing at a convention and I want the world to see what you're made of.

That is all for now. Shoot any concerns my way.

BTW,...your submissions have been great so far!

You did "win" the first "round," yanno. :P

In about a week, I'll send you either the individual files directly through email or separate links via You Send It. It all depends on what your server can handle and how large your email inbox is.

You won't know who made what entry, of course. ;).

Yeah...I had to revise the introductory post to include more detailed guidelines regarding video quality. Unfortunately for the WMM2 users, re-encoding to MPEG2 (the preferred format for cons these days) is gonna do a number on the visual quality of the WMVs. This is why I am kind of pushing for everyone to lay a few bucks down on MAGIX Video Edit Pro 11 (only about $50).

I really really like this one. It feels a lot like WMM2 in the way you drag and drop scenes and trim them. The scene recognition feature is always a plus (remember to save them all as "takes!") and the transitions are cool. The visual effects I found are awesome. Just looking at them has inspired me to look into making an action video in spite of every other producer making one.

Anyway,...the fact I can create MPEGs and AVI is good enough for me. ;)

Did you peruse the revision of the "rules?"

Yeah, lucky for me, I don't use WMM2 any more. I really like Video Edit Pro, I just upgraded it too, so it's even better. Can't wait for future rounds to try it out, but I'll try to save to MPEG-2 from now on. I think I've been doing AVI, if you need me to send a re-encoded version of any of my clips, I'll be glad to do it.

Yes, please...the Shippo, your tag, this round's entry, and "I'm Gay." It should save a bit of trouble on my end when final editing comes around.

Hey...are you going to Otakon? Just curious to meet the people making these crazy clips.

So . . . how will each round end and be "judged" (in the loosest sense) if there's no more "deadline"? (Btw, figuring out this trial Magix editor is a pain in the butt . . . waaah.)

The program works pretty much like WMM2. Use "scene detection" and then "save as takes," then drag and drop and trim as you ordinarily would. There's an "ungroup" button above the timeline. Highlight the clip you dropped there and hit that button. Click on the audio track and hit the "X" button to delete it. You should have just the visual now. Trim it as you would in WMM2, but notice the little "zoom" menu at the bottom right corner. I usually zoom to "5 frames."

To add transitions, take two scenes on the timeline that are next to each other and drag them together until you see an "X" where they merge. The more you push one scene into the next, the bigger the "X" gets. That's how long your transition will be. Just look for the one you want and drag it into the "X" thing. Voila...

The only pain in the ass is you won't be able to export your videos in MPEG format until you purchase the program ($49). :( Whatever...I'm gonna buy it as soon as the funds become available.

As far as the "deadline" thing, there will still be one but only for the purpose of choosing the next person to provide the next sound source. Since this is a collaboration, whether or not there's any "contest" involved, I am the "executive producer" and this is how I have chosen to collect creative counsel, input, etc from you (the contributors / collaborators). I want to involve everyone as much as possible.

*ahem*

I'm still going to leave the themes open for future entrants, though.

Also for anybody who is a college student, look at some cheap software options availiable. Many major publishers of software have discounts availiable that can cut the price tag. Some of it can still get expensive but trust me in that it is worth it.

Yeah...

you get to vote for the next clip for the compilation. :P MaruSha will be out until further notice (but not for very long). Expect the submissions (sans your own, natch) sometime tonight.

Theme #3 announced later tonight...

Oh, man. You mean after all that talking, I actually get to see what others came up with?

Sweet! I will be fair and impartial.

Bring em on!

Okay, here's the situation...

MaruSha is off for a brief spell and can't judge this round.
There were only two entries for this theme.
Since Desbo21 was the honorable mention for last theme, she was to cast her opinion for which should go onto the compilation.

But...

one of those entries came from Desbo21.
Since I don't want to be the one to pick up one and leave the other behind or declare an entry part of the compilation "by default," I'm putting them both on. Well, I liked them anyway. ;)

So...

Both Desbo21 and RanMouri82 will not only be allowed to participate in the next round, but choose the entry they feel should appear on the compilation. Neither, however, may vote for their own submissions. Like that's not fairly obvious. :P

Even though MaruSha won't be helping me this time, we'll use her theme...

Napoleon XIV - They're Coming to Take Me Away
(remember that the song title links to the download)

Lyrics

Remember when you ran away and I got on my knees and begged you not to
leave because I'd go berserk?? Well...
You left me anyhow and then the days got worse and worse and now you see
I've gone completely out of my mind.. And..
They're coming to take me away, ha-haaa!!
They're coming to take me away, ho-ho, hee-hee, ha-haaa
To the funny farm. Where life is beautiful all the time and I'll be
happy to see those nice young men in their clean white coats and they're
coming to take me away, ha-haaa!!!!!

You thought it was a joke and so you laughed, you laughed when I had said
that loosing you would make me flip my lid.. RIGHT???
I know you laughed, I heard you laugh, you laughed you laughed and
laughed and then you left, but now you know I'm utterly mad... And..

They're coming to take me away, ha-haaa,
They're coming to take me away, ho-ho, hee-hee, ha-haaa.
To the happy home. With trees and flowers and chirping birds and basket
weavers who sit and smile and twiddle their thumbs and toes and they're
coming to take me away, ha-haaa!!!

I cooked your food, I cleaned your house, and this is how you pay me back
for all my kind unselfish loving deeds.. Huh??
Well you just wait, they'll find you yet and when they do they'll put you
in the ASPCA, you mangy mutt!!! And...

They're coming to take me away, ha-haaa.
They're coming to take me away, ho-ho, hee-hee, ha-haaa.
To the funny farm, where life is beautiful all the time and I'll be happy
to see those nice young men in their clean white coats and they're coming
to take me away, ha-haaa!!!
To the happy home, with trees and flowers and chirping birds and basket
weavers who sit and smile and twiddle their thumbs and toes and they're
coming to take me away, ha-haa!!!
To the funny farm, where life is beautiful all the time... (fade out)

...the green flag is a-wavin'.
