A Road Of Few Productions Project

Postby Osakaisthebomb » Mon Feb 13, 2006 8:49 am

Alright people let me be honest here. I've never done or been part of a Multi-editor project. Me just simply starting one is a big gamble. I can't guarantee the project will come out fancy or even decent. Heck, I can't promise that it will even get done.

With that out of the way here is the deal.

Project Theme
This project is an all christian music video project. Um.......that's as descriptive as my low vocabuary can allow.

Rules
You don't have to be a Christian to be a part of this, you just have to use Christian Aritst. All anime is allowed to be used but you CAN NOT use hentai. Each segment will go from 30 seconds to a minute. You can send in 3 at the most. Your videos can be either comedic, serious, dramatic, etc.

How to get me the video
Before you send me anything remember one thing. I use Magix Movie edit pro 2004. If you can send me a video that that program can read then do so. The only way I know of you getting the video to me would be by snail mail on a CD, CD-R, or CD-RW. Pm me if you would like to be a part of this project so I can write you down and send you the mailing address.

Deadlines
all enteries are due April 1st;so you have plenty of time to get started.

If I haven't explained myself clearly enough, let me know. If I'm doing this all wrong, PLEASE let me know.

Actually your the second person to propose something along these lines...
I originally though about a switchfoot project and got shot down :)
Coming form experence, as a project manager for REM Sleep and Nightwish:
Dark Desires. Expect alot of hard work and your going to need someone with
a decent ftp to move files and a format like huffy that agrees with everything.
Goodluck and god bless...

Oh yeah I forgot one more rule.

You must have your company logo in the bottom right part of the video.

Cool. I think this is a sweet idea. :D I'm personally not too crazy about doing MEP tracks myself, but a Christian MEP is something I've been wanting to see done for quite a while.

But, dude, if you want me to be completely honest, I don't know if you're that technically skilled to be running an MEP and make it turn it really well. I would be willing to make a track for it, as long as I knew it would be a well-managed and well-put-together project, but you don't seem to have too much experience with MEPs.

First of all, there's no need to send the video files via snail mail. Just use yousendit.com to have the videos transfered.

I've seen some of your videos, and while I absolutely love most of the song choices, and I think your editing itself is pretty sweet, they aren't encoded too well. I'd hate to see a cool MEP idea like this get mutilated into a .wmv format...

I'm not trying to bash you or anything, so please don't feel that way. But I'm wondering how interested you would be in letting someone else run the project, while you get full credit for the idea and of course can do however much editing in-betweens or tracks you like. I'd be very interested in running the project, and I'm sure I can talk my sister, silver_moon into helping out too. She knows how to encode very well, so she'd be able to make it look really sweet in the end, and I'd love to make some hawt titles for it, as well as a short track. We've both been a part of MEPs before, and have made a lot of AMVs, so we do know what we're doing.

But if you want to do it yourself, please just ignore me! It is a cool idea, and I do hope it gets done. :)

I agree there. I thought the idea was rather interesting, however when I saw the lack of technical details on the first posts (like encoding standards, aspect ratios, codecs, etc...), I was sort of put off. You need to have some consistency when working with MEPs, both for making it good as well as your sanity. Also telling people to make something consistent to your video editing program is not enough because not many people particularly know what your program handles, so I suggest declaring out here what it actually does.

I'll keep checking here and see how this goes in terms of organisation because I really think it's an novel idea.

Alright here is all I know to tell ya
1. I can't use avi or real player files.
2. Becuase so many I know have a problem with avi files I will not make it into a Avi file.
3. I have two other editors that could help pluse I know two people are great in computer lingo.
4. The last two post have left me upset and worried about this project.
5. WHO IN THE HECK HAS NEVER DONE A MEP FOR THE FIRST TIME? GIVE ME A BREAK.
6. My very bad attitude in writting this is dude to lack of sleep and being upset about something else. Please forgive me.
7. YES I NEED HELP. I am an ametuer okay. I'm still ignorant to alot of things. But for heavens sakes people, have some faith in me.
8. I need your prayers on this.
9. I love you all and hope to get alot of videos.
10...........

You know what? forget number 4-10. Just help me out here alright. Just tell me what to do okay? I'm putting my trust in you. I just want to do this so badly and those last two post reminded me of my lack of knowledge on this subject. I don't know anything about encoding and stuff like that.

Okay obviously that last post was late at night and i was very emotional. Let me do it correctly this time.

:)

I guess I don't know what encoding is exactly so I guess I need a lecture on that. I am looking into talking with a few friends on mine to see if they could help me in that subject.

Also I like .wmv mostly because almost everybody has windows media player. I'm not a fan of .AVI because some player can read it and for some odd reason my Windows media player can read it but others with even more updated stuff can't read it correctly(reads it as an audio file.)

I've never experimented with others so I guess I'll have to now. Just give me some insight on the subject matter. I need all the help I can get.

not saying you arnt capable of running this project but I think mabey you should be in a mep befor you make one your self it might help, then agin I dont know if youve joind one befor, if you havnt I think mabey you should let Sierra Lorna. she has done a mep befor and im pretty sure she particpated in the mep so shes made an amv for a mep and ran a mep, if you havnt even been in a mep it mighy be allitle more compicate and sierra said shed give you full credit. my opnion is we let her do the mep and you make a segment for it. im not trying to be mean and I hope you didnt take this the wrong way.

I started an MEP before being in one, and also before reading the stickies (Not the smartest move on my part).

Anyway, I think he's perfectly capable of handling it, if he thinks he's up to it. If not, he could just pass all the files to someone else who can do the encoding, compression, etc.

Downloading a simple codec for reading .AVI files should help most players into reading it. Not much of a problem there. We can always make two filetypes of the final version can't we?

Anyway, I'm interested in this. I have a song called "Just an Illusion" which would work pretty fine for an FMA action segment. (Thou shalt no steal this idea! *copyrights*) And maybe a Donnie McKirkland (However you spell his last name) song too.

Oh, and about the company logo, what if you don't have one? Should I just make some random symbol?

Thanks you so much for that encouragement. I've found out what it means to do encoding. How does Mpeg-4 sound? I have to check if i can export it to that type of mpeg though. I'm going to be working with sora764 on this project. Yes It seems like I should let some one else do it since I've never been a part of a MEP before. But then when would be an apropriate time for me to start one then? I think I should just go ahead and try it. I know I use .wmp files alot but I can try mpeg for this project.

So far I've got one video for this project:
Song:Everything
Artist:Lifehouse
Anime: Kingdom hearts 1 and 2
Editor: sora764

Once you have chosen what you want to do, PLEASE post it on here like the one above. Thank you
