Dedicated to Katrina interest gauge

Postby godix » Wed Sep 07, 2005 3:00 am

A few days ago someone in #AMV suggested there be a Dedicated to Katrina MEP done with the same sense of respect and honor towards the Katrina victims that I showed towards my wife and Sammy. I've thought about it some and whoever suggested it was right. So I now announce Dedicated to Katrina (also know as KAK just because every project needs a TLA. I'll figure out what KAK stands for, besides it's slang meaning in South Africa, at a later date)

The ground rules:
1) 30 second segments MAX
2) The video must directly be related to Katrina or the destruction it caused
3) 640x480 at 24fps
4) This will have a short deadline to remain semi-topical, vids must be gotten to me by Sunday Sept 18
5) Either keep the violence/nudity within org guidelines for a local vid OR you are responsible for finding hosting. Similarly at least some anime must be used although I understand the temptation to do strictly RL photos is strong. I don't wanna distribute by yousendit again
6) If less than three people show interest I ain't bothering with it
7) Ideas solely based on blaming any politician, be it Bush or NOLA local politicians, will probably be nixed unless they are DAMNED funny. This is a project dedicated to the noble purpose of kicking people when their down, I don't want no damned political crap dragging down the fine upstanding morality I'm displaying here. Cause ya gotta have standards ya know.
8) I already claim Under the Sea (from Little Mermaid) done to Akira
9) Read all the small print
10) Do not taunt Happy Fun Ball.
11) Offer is subject to your local state laws.
12) Do not pass go do not get two hundred dollars.
13) Under no circumstances should MEP be viewed or else serious mental harm may result.
14) I'm willing to bet $10 this topic gets locked/deleted within 24 hours, any takers?

I'm sure with my collection of Mardi Gras & Cajun (zydeco) music I can come up with something.

This may be too easy (or tasteless)...but someone ought come up with something to 'Katrina and the Waves' Walking on Sunshine'...floating bodies?

I've got a 6 second section ready for perusal. (640x480 24FPS as requested. 8mb Cinepak)

'The St. Charles Streetcar' by 'The Louisiana Polliwogs'
Anime - Mahou Sensei Negima

Where do I send it or should I upload it here to the org?

Well, i'm gonna go for "There's No Way Out Of Here" by Monster Magnet, and as anime SaiKano. 8-)

I do have some songs leftover from browsing through my songlist, songs that are atleast "interesting" so to speak. However i don't have the anime to really put them to use, so if anyone wants to use them, please do, they might be good to put in this.

"Rain When I Die" and "Dam That River" by Alice in Chains
"Dead in a Ditch" and "Drown You Out" by DRI
"Surf City" by The Ramones
"Undertow" by Tool
"On The Waterfront" by The Anti-Nowhere League
"In Too Deep" by Sum41

Welcome aboard guys

There are three fairly easy ways to get files to me if needed.

1) One of my email addresses is god.ninth@gmail.com and it allows up to 100 megs in attachments

2) www.yousendit.com works well for temporary hosting

3) Catch me in IRC and DCC it

A few possible animes that might be used:

Evangelion has some footage of a destroyed city in the water I believe.

Spirited Away has some traintracks underwater, a train running in water a few feet deep, and people on a makeshift looking boat.

Maybe it's just me but I have this mental image of Osaka floating away to the sea being used.

Porco Rosso has quite a few sea scenes includes some with many people in them however I don't think any of them are stormy seas.

Kiki's Delivery Service has some nice pictures of a seaside city from the air. Make a decent before picture I guess.

Here's a possible idea...'Walking to New Orleans' (Fats Domino) depicting people trying to get out of Florida after Katrina's first strike. (Maybe an overlay of Ryoga (Ranma) leaving a picture or series of pictures of Florida?)

I'm doing this. Hopefully I get enough time to do it. But I'll try. I'll be using Harder to Breathe: Maroon 5 with Scryed. It'd probably be a 5-10 second clip anyway so I shouldn't take that long.

Count me in. I'll do Blondie's "The Tide is High" with Cowboy Bebop.

I thought about doing one for Louisiana 1927, but I'm sure that's not what you're looking for.

Try "Walking To New Orleans" by Fats Domino, who barely made it out alive, incidentally.

"Rain On Me" by Jane Wiedlin.

"Wade in the Water" spiritual

"Two Sparrows In A Hurricane" by Tanya Tucker

"Down At The Twist And Shout" by Mary Chapin Carpenter

I most likely won't do a track but I express my support and help by reminding that there are a lot of animes that has underwater cities like for example Aika Trail (Agent Aika), Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou, Future Boy Conan and maybe Hyper Police.

You need some Dash Rip Rock, too.

Specifically, "The Longest Bridge In The World."
