Shadow Hearts OST(Horror genre/intense emotion) - interest?

Post by SQ » Thu Oct 14, 2004 10:26 am

After the failure that is/has been TRWYP, And the Matrix Project(which never got off the ground), I have been wondering.

Has anyone ever played the game "Shadow Hearts"? I know the sequel to it is out now, but if you've Played Shadow Hearts, you have heard it's awesome soundtrack.

It is a mix of classical music with werd sounds in it. It's almost as if you've gone to the Atlanta symphony on Halloween.

There are things popping out at you, "fog" and "wind" noise. So much good stuff just waiting to be done to it.

I have been sitting on the OST that took two years to get for a while now, debating this.

After a long, long debate with myself, I've finally come to a conclusion.
If there is interest, I will do it.

Due to the severe lack in Horror AMVs, and the even more prominent lack of horror in these so-called Horror AMVs, I am proposing this project to you.

The CD's first disc(of two) can be downloaded in second post.
However, if you're interested in this project, I'd recommend renting Shadow Hearts, so you can see this music in action, and get an idea for what it's saying(if you haven't already).

The songs vary from the shortest 0:31 in length to a startling 5 - 6 minutes.

At the moment, I am debating on whether to do all tracks, or just one disc.

I guess it depends on the interest.

Due to my past failures at proposing projects/contests, I am saying that there have to be atleast 30 editors interested, or 20 editors willing to double up.

And that is only for one disc.

We'll debate doing both discs or not later, if the project actually seems interesting.

Now. For the not-so-horror part of the soundtrack.

There are a few tracks that can be used as comical relief or just relaxing in comparison to most the songs. These are usually town's songs, or character themes. So if you're not into horror, you may want to join anyway, just so you can grab such a track.

At this point, I am going to say no live-action for the videos, but you can have repeating anime.
All the songs(save one) have no lyrics. Other songs have people singing(gasps and yells, some random "la"s here and there) so it's almost a 99% instrumental project.

The songs are highly constructed, and there is no way you can make a "random" video to any of them(save the 0:30 track(s)).
So in this, I admit that we may be severely limited until the editors actually hear the songs, because you almost have to have a story for you to make a track.

So, if there is interest, I'm expecting to have this project filled with emotionally-intense anime and storylines. So if you're a character profiler, drama queen, or "I'm going to make you cry till you dehydrate" editor, this project is for you.

So if there's any interest at all, let me know.

Right now, I guess I'll leave this up for grabs for a month or two, and I know the songs are hard to edit to and think of a concept for, so it will take atleast a year to complete.

I'm moving out next December, if the project's still going on then, I'll have my own server.

Here's how you can download the tracks.
I have compiled seven rar archives, each 9 megabytes in length, for you to download and listen to.
You can get the tracks by following these steps:

Go to http://gmail.com
Log in as: amvers
with the password: musics
All tracks are attachments to the mail in the inbox. You can download whicever you want from there.

I have compiled a list of what the tracks could be used for, genre-wise, for AMVs.
If I have "random" as one of the genres, and you've listened to the song, let me know what could be used, because I'm clueless.

Tracks:
1. Random? Was thinking of using it for the opening credits.
2. Mystery/horror
3. " "
4. Random
5. Horror/suspense
6. Relaxing?
7. suspense/horror
8. " "
9. Drama?
10. Suspense
11. happy-go-lucky
12. soothing/relaxing
13. normal town music(Been in a town in an RPG? Yep, this is it)
14. Chinese folktale?
15. soothing/relaxing
16. suspense/drama
17. Random
18. happy-go-lucky
19. Sad
20. Omnimous sad/storytelling
21. Suspense?
22. Drama/slow action?
23. random
24. Town music
25. Really sad. ;_;
26. Creepy random?
27. Random
28. " " (action?)
29. REALLY sad. (could I cry anymore?) -also longest song on disc; almost 5 minutes.
30. Creepy religion?
----

Some tracks may be cut from the project.
That is, if it ever gets off the ground.
Some tracks may obviously be cut for the following reasons:
-length(or lack of)
-The sheer fact that nothing's going on
-too repeatative
-nobody can think of anything to put to it

I have only put up the first disc for download, depending on reaction, I'll put up the second disc, which has better songs(IMO- less 'town music').
I know that these songs will take a lot of stress to do, simply because they're just so weird. But I am hoping to do this regardless, and if anyone has suggestions/complaints please post them!

Let me pick up the soundtrack so I can preview what I might be working with, and I'll drop a line later tonight.

You have it?

Anyway, I'm raring the first CD right now... I had an epiphany.
(i.e. Random memory of "Hey! I could use my external HD I just got for my birthday to do this!")

And they should be downloadable later tonight, as well.
I just need to set up a new account...

Alright everyone.
Currently, my upload rate is as slow as shit. But.
http://gmail.com
sn: amvers
pw: musics

note the plural of stuff.

Right now, I'm still uploading rars. They are in 9 meg pieces. there are seven parts.

If you can't find the stuff in the inbox, click "sentbox". They should be in both of them, though.

Right now, I only have part 1 done, and am working on part 2.
I figured I could give the 56kers a heads up, and you could atleast listen to the first few tracks while I am still uploading.

There are 30 tracks on this CD.

The songs are encoded as 128 kb/s mp3's

I'll edit the first post when I get everything uploaded.

Reminder: I have read google's TOS, and no where does it say that what I am using my account(s) for is against Google.

Good =p

I'm on part... -checks, as I've lost count; damn upload time- 4.

So keep checking the inbox. ;)

What else was I going to say...

Ah yes!

Support Shadow Hearts! Buy the OST today!

So you don't have to go through all the failed backorders and used CDs that are supposedly around, after a year I finally was able to get a hold of an excellent, brand spanking new and cheap Shadow Hearts OST from Game music.com. Mad props to them.

Screw Amazon. Game Music is where it's at. -rocks on-

I'll have to check into this. As I myself am into comedy. I'll check the comedy stuff out. Don't have any horror anime sadly. :?

You don't have to have horror anime to make something horrific.

(My Neighbor Totoro eating children, anyone?)

;)

At the moment, I am focusing on uploading the tracks.
I'll compile a list of what the tracks are genre-wise for selected downloads later, as that is secondary to actually getting the songs uploaded.

I am almost positive that I am the only one on the org that has this OST(or atleast the only one who will be in this project, if it gets off the ground), so all tracks must be uploaded so editors can use them before I get to anything else.

Should I put you down for the interested editors list or just wait until you've heard some music?

EDIT:
Aaaaaand I'm done uploading.
Let me edit the first post, then list-ness shall ensue.
