Okay, I have pretty much finished my little section between Kalium's and Song's. Oto and Kalium were available last night, so they beta'd, and I made a couple of tweaks today.

I pretty much turned the section into a continuation of Kalium's track, in the form of a shameless extended metaphor using dueling dragons. >__>

Contact me if you want to see the latest beta. :P

krzT wrote:After listening to the song over again, I decided I really liked the track beginning at 4:12 (running to 4:45), and I've kind of got a general idea of what I would do with it. From the DVD footage I have available, I think I could make this segment work with R.O.D. (TV) as a pseudo character profile on Anita; mainly focusing on her growing maturity through the series.

I thought this was a great idea when you mentioned it over IM. If taken as just a character profile, it would be somewhat cut off from the rest of the character profiles section. But if you concentrate on Anita's growing maturity (as opposed to, say, just her personality) then I can see very well how that would fit into the progression of themes in this project. The theme of gaining mental maturity would nicely follow a section with Kino's Journey (which I believe also features relatively young characters), and ROD TV's energy would flow well into the upbeat section afterwards.

No, I hadn't really beta'd :( I would have today if I weren't dead.

If you've got a link to the latest beta, please PM it to me. Otherwise I'm about as dead today and probably tomorrow as I'll ever get T__T

Wow. New editors... new betas... so quickly... My head is spinning, but in a good way. 8-)

Unless one of the new editors is interested, I can offically take over BMA's old section (04:45, 06:29 - VACANT (theme?) duration 1:44). I do have one question however; What exactly is meant by 'theme'? In others words, what kind of video would be good to fill this spot?

Funny you should ask... I was actually just listening to that part and got a weird idea. :P

What I visualized was a sort of lighthearted portrayal of "Karma." Going with this idea you'd portray, for example, a character who leads a rather hedonistic life. Then gradually, little comedic misfortunes would start to befall that character. I'm not sure how you would end that... it could very well depend on the specific character(s) used...

Anyway, that's just one idea. The interesting percussion beats at the beginning actually remind me of steampunk mechanics. So... maybe something industrial? Robots?

S'okay, I guess I'm able to auto-beta, as well. >__>

I think I can make something like that work. More to come when I've choosen a series to work with.

Hummm... I've never seen it, which incidentally is exactly what I was looking for for this part. I'll check it out. Are there any aspects of the film or particular characters I should pay close attention to?

Actually I havn't officially seen it yet either, I just know the scenery from previews and pictures and thought it might work for that based on Jaspers Idea. That and the animation looks gorgeous from what I've seen ;p I think my dad has the DVD actually now that I think of it... I;ve just been too busy to try and watch it that I forgot about it. I should check with him .... But I do recomend checking it out for the project though, from what I have seen of it, I think it could work for this part. Lot os of industrial like stuff, and by the director of Akira. (if i'm remembering correctly)

Steamboy is steampunk material. Watch out for Scarlett O'Hara.

Actually, you might be able to pull enough material about her from it. I would point you towards Samurai 7, though. There's a very hedonistic character who keeps getting his plots on one of the main characters foiled.

Final Beta - http://rapidshare.de/files/14645999/liquidM.wmv.html

If people dont have any small tweaking sujestions then my editing is done. I just gota make the avs files (currently editing off virtual avi's made from d2v files) so I can de-interlace (if someone wants to give me a script, itl save me 10 minutes :D ) and fix resolution/frame rate issues (help here would be awsome). I'l ysi a huffy in a few days once all that other stuff is done.

Jasper sujested that I kill the second half (not sure where exactly she meant) so it can be used for a segment with a different anime. I'm open to the idea but want to know what everyone els thinks. My only worry is that it'l make this project take even longer to complete, which isnt exatly a good thing considering how things have been going recently.

I was rewatching some of the anime Gankutsuou (the Count of Monte Cristo) the other day and thought that it'd be awesome if I could include it in the project somehow. It's got brilliant animation and a brilliant story. However, the problem was that there's only one part in our project's music where I thought that Gankutsuou would fit in... and that's the second half of Bum's track.

Since I think that the first half of Bum's track is great and definitely good enough to stand on its own, I asked him whether it would cause him great pain if I (or some other editor willing to use Gankutsuou) were to take the second half of his track and redo it. He said he would post a HQ beta and ask everybody else. (Thanks :))

Theme-wise, I think that Gankutsuou will fit nicely in the proposed spot since it espouses a very prominent theme of Revenge - sort of what I think the second half of Bum's track is going for, anyway. And plus, as some have put it, the animation in Gankutsuou looks hella cool. :P

I don't think that doing this would cause a large setback for the Project. I already have a good idea of how the track would go, and it only took me a few days to finish that 30-second track last week. This one's a minute long and a bit more complex, but I still think that I can finish it in a matter of two or three weeks.

But anyway, this is all up to you guys, and especially Pen-pen. What do you guys think?

Lots of ideas floating around. I especially like the idea of having a "Karma" section. I havn't seen Steamboy or Gankutsuou but they sound like they would fit right in. I'm actually a big fan of Samurai_7, but the last I heard it was only availible as fansubs so there might be a quality issue (Note: I may be wrong about this, it's been awhile.)

I'm going to look over all the recently posted stuff and get back to people sometime tonight.

A quick heads up I'm going to visit my brother in Wyoming which is a 40+ hour trip by bus so I might be out of touch for a couple of days. I should have no trouble getting online once I'm there though, I'll keep you guys posted.
