Yup, that's what I was getting at. But let's wait to see what pen-pen comes up with first.

new beta. Just one major change and three minor. I'm actualy starting to think that its not so bad. Only part I'm happy-unhappy-honestlynotsure with is 1:12-1:16. It's very nicely synced but it just doesnt seem to realy fit anywhere with the rest of the vid.

Ah, I see that you reverted that diamond transition back to what you had in earlier versions. This one looks better.

Personally I don't see anything especially wrong with 1:12-1:16. I think it fleshes out the situation that the guy seems to have gotten himself into. A little bit of eye candy never hurt anybody, anyway. :P

Song: cool, can't wait to see what you've come up with.

Anyone know what program is good for turning a series of pictures into video?

I've used Premiere with little difficulty for that in the past. I just changed the still image settings to be one frame, then just place the whole kitten kaboodle in the timeline. There might be better ways out there, but I wanted to use the phrase 'kitten kaboodle' so I posted my method.

Yes, I'd say the 'kitten kaboodle' method should work!

Just get all your images ready in photoshop/image-editor-of-your-choice, and off you go to Premiere.

Or just use vdubmod.

Anyway, does anyone have any specific complaints about my section other than the vid quality?

A little preview of things to come and technical test. Keep in mind:

1. this was done quickly (10 min) so it is more jagged then something that would appear in the final project.

2. I also used very small objects which stuck to my hands and made things dificult.

3. I learned a lot: blue screen wasn't blue enough, a close light made it an uneven color (though it gave me awesome shadows) and I need to use a remote to avoid camera movement.

I still plan to do the flower but I haven't had a chance to get one yet.

Here follows Soren's brave strugles against the evil forces of technology:
So I'm all excited about trying this out so I run out to the store and buy batteries for my families digital camera (my good camera is film), now I'm all set. I set up the mini-tripod but the low down angle creates a very close vanishing point, so I get the tripod and set up my "blue screen" and "profesional lighting system" and started working. The pictures didn't take much time at all and I was feeling good as I headed to the computer to see if I moved things slowly enough. Well Vdub didn't want to deal with Jpegs, just Bmp's so I tried to find a quick way to change all 40 of them. Eventually I just loaded them all into premiere but couldn't find the frameserver, when I suddenly realized that premiere would do everything I needed (or so I thought). And everything seemed to be going well, playing the immages forwards, then a few in the middlle so it wouldn't look wierd, then backwards. But those dreams were wrecked by premiere's crappy key controls.
So I exported lossless from premiere, moved it to another computer and opened it up in after effects, then there were more problems as AE would crash every time I moved the video in the composition frame. After many saves I devised a workaround, and was able to mask with AE. Then an export to BMP files and load in premire and export as huffy and compress. Done.
Not. The video was at 24 FPS according to Vdub and assumeFPS in avisynth but it wasn't playing correctly. I was tearing out my hair at this point, two days after I started. The media player would think everything was fine but the video would go slowly and finish 10 seconds late. Finally I sent copies to Bsrk and downwithpants and they figured out that 2048x1536 was a wee bit to high a resolution. One last pass with Vdub and I was done.

/rant (had to get it off my chest.)

Comments? Ideas?

Hey thats prety damn cool. The movement is a bit jerky but it kinda adds to the charm of it. The only bad point is the bluurying, mainly on the bottom right. The whole thing remoinds me of Evil Dead for some reason.

The blurring is due to a bad blue screen. This will be fixed from now on.

Also, the exccessive jerking in the middle section is because I didn't actually animate that part, I just patched it together because a freeze frame looked odd. For future projects I will take many more slightly diffrent pictures of any pauses.

Still looking to do some flowers, and thanks to Jasper, clouds.

Any other ideas of slow movements in nature that would look good speeded up? Within reason, no trees growing or continental drift. (Though I might be able to get a plant sprouting but probably not with a blue sreen.)

BOO!

It's been mighty quiet in here lately. :P
I'd think of more ideas and post them here if I weren't directing most of my energy and attention to Animasia right now. :P

Oh, don't mind me, you know the whole story of "Tweak/Bomb/Rinse/Repeat" <__<

That aside, I'm still here, watching quietly for further updates, mainly on the final verdict as far as the title so I can go and make my segment's ending better in line with what that will be. Otherwise, it's small tweaks left for me.

And I have, unfortunately, been unable to get myself into 'nitpick' mode lately, so I'm not much use to other people's segments right now, either

I finaly started editing with avisynth, so my next beta (which il put up whenver I can be bothered riping 14 vob's) should look alot nicer than my previos 256k wmv wonders.

And just wondering, everyone has seen my latest amv and is preparing a 2000 word op for it, right? It seems to have recieved very little attention
