...alright... I am... slowly... gonna start... crawling out of the dungeon and trying to get back to this, again.

Apologies. My AMV-deadness seems to be more prolonged than I thought.

How is our status at the moment? I see bum, Jasper and Coffee 54 have betas ready for viewing, which I'll look over shortly. Anyone else?

Otohiko: glad to see you're coming back to the scene. :D

So far there have been betas from Bum, Coffee, Kalium, you, and myself. That's about half the members on this project, but the remaining editors seem to have a heavier load. We currently have about 6:37 in betas, so there are about 10 minutes left to edit in the project.

He's going to be working on the credits.

We still have a spot from 10:08-11:00 (the "epic melody") which we need someone for, Flint the Dwarf has expresed intrest but is still unsure.

As for the 6:30 section, Kalium's is essensially done and two other people have told me they plan to take one (I forget who at the moment) so that's close to being filled.

I know Songbird is getting started but I haven't heard from BMA in a while, I'd really like to see something in that area.

Honestly though, the segment I'm by far the most worried about in terms of quantity and quality would have to be mine.

Half of Kaliums. The credits will probably be doen by jasper or penpen. But he's allready got 3 sections so, mabey we should give the poor guy a break.

No, DrngdKreationz is doing the credits. Actually, if Drngd is doing the credits, I think I'll forego the drafting and just let him work his own magic. I only offered to get things started because we haven't heard from him in a while in this thread.

I'll edit my post above to make the tracklisting more clear as to which segments are still free. [But since people have continually expressed interest, I don't think there is a track that's completely up for grabs.]

Something's gone awry with my project file. :?

The short version:
I can still make changes to my beta, but they'll be limited.

The long version:
Whenever I export, it renders many of my clips as still images. It's like the clips are stuck on their first frames, even though I never set them to do that.

At first this only occurred with a few clips, all coming from one VOB file (I used AVS scripts to edit). I tried to seek through the AVS file for that VOB, but all I got was garbage. So I thought that somehow that VOB had gotten corrupted. I re-ripped the episode, used the new file to re-do the messed up section in my project, and I rendered.

As it turned out, the re-ripped file worked perfectly. But to my utter astonishment, many of my other clips started having the same problem. And these were clips that came from MANY different VOB files, files that I frankly do not have the patience to rip again. And even if I did rip and edit them again, there's no telling whether the rest of my project will catch the same problem the next time I render. I suspect that sooner or late I'd be editing the whole thing over again. :?

The good news is that I have multiple lossless beta files lying around, and by splicing together the "good" parts of each, I can produce a full segments without problems. The bad new is, of course, that I cannot use my project file anymore, so any further changes will be limited.

Pen-pen: go ahead and bring on the picky details anyway. If they're small, they should be easily replaceable. I'll see what I can do.

Kalium's is the third, so two before his, and one after. Pen-pen was mentioning two editors saying they take a part of it, but not which parts. So I guess the third section is definitely taken, and one of the remaining three is definitely open... I think.

6:30-7:09***7:09-7:29***<s>7:29-7:48</s>***7:48-8:17***10:08-11:00

Plus there is a good chance that I am going to try to split my track in half and give the second part to someone else because my concept is not going to last that long.

Sorry about the lax leadership lately, Finals and then packing have been killer. I'll be back home on wensday and will be able to take control of this project. I'd really like to hear from the people who do not have betas, just post or PM me and tell me how things are going.

Jasper_isis: Sorry about the project file, that kind of thing is really discouraging. Fortunatly the segment is also a very solid one already so it's not to much of a disapointment. I'll have those ideas for you soon.

Well, all that's stopping me right now is the fact that my software is not installed, and the discs are laying around somewhere in the closet - I'll have to dig around to find this; in the meantime I was wondering if there was anywhere I could get the latest betas again - looks like the Yousendit links have expired

Danke - that's one down and a couple of more to go :)

Will watch now...

[post-viewing edit]

Hey, you beat me to the idea of making a video focused on that episode - great work! I rank it as my favorite 'filler' episode ever, and I'm glad to see you've done a very good job with it!

I think the main issue I'd be worried about is pretty much the same one I have - the rhythm and the overall 'busy' nature of the music sometimes seems to outpace the visual, especially when you look at some of the slower and longer cuts.
The last bit of it is definitely my favorite part. And now that you did the 'fade out on cry' thing (now I can see how Pen-Pen and Jasper thought it would be an effective solution), I definitely have no choice but to use it at the start of mine, too
