bum: finally I have a chance to post comments!
Overall, I was really impressed with your mood synching. You definitely caught the sense of urgency early on in this piece. I think it would be nice if you showed more interactions between two main characters, just to flesh them out more and reveal their relationship to the audience (right now, they don't really seem to be intimate).
There are some notes/beats that I wished you could've synched to. I list the times below, although some of the timing may be iffy because you made so many quick cuts:
0:03 - the two low notes near the end of this second.
0:13 - the same two low notes as above
0:29 - I really like the music synching at 0:25 and was wondering if you could do something similar here
0:34 - there are some pretty prominent beats here
Here are the parts that I liked:
0:07 to 0:10 - the motion here is really slick, unlike all the choppy cuts around it.
0:22 to 0:24 - I like that you didn't oversynch the motion of the robot(thing) with the music. The motion, again, is nice and smooth.
0:25 - catches the beat pretty well.
0:26 to 0:29 - same as before. The slowly expanding motion of the monster-thing (what IS it called?) makes an ominous combination with the music.
0:35 to 0:41 - a moment of silent mourning is interrupted by a deadly explosion. Very tragic. Actually I just like the explosion because it suited the music pretty well, without being choppy.
You might have guessed by now that I really like smooth motion.

My belief is that skillfully-synched smooth motion can be pretty effective in action videos. I think that in the first part of your beta, where just about every note has a cut, some more continuous scenes could make the section less bewildering. Choppy pans (of one continuous shot) could be more effective than quick juxtapositions of different shots.
But then... maybe you're going for a wind-up of tension? Well, whatever you do, this seems to be heading in a nice direction. I look forward to the next beta!

Pen-pen: can't wait for the audio! How are you getting them out to us?
How's the rest of the CD?

I looked for it again at Tower Records in December, but their only copy of it had a huge crack on the case... and was selling for even more than the list price on Amazon!

The next two weeks don't look too ripe in terms of editing for me, due to the second round of semester finals. We'll see what happens...
