Pen-pen:

I'll post what I have planned for my requested segment when I have recovered from a nasty, nasty cold that's been clinging to me since last week. :?

On the project name: Well... it looks like I've already jumped to conclusions and assumed that we're using "ProjeKct: Life." :points to sig: :P

Whoops, I must have missed you somehow.

Just to be clear, the PM's had nothing to do with being in the project they were just sent to people who haven't posted since I put up the final track listing to get things moving, that's all.

However, I did have one thing come to mind: In a lot of the big projects it's imposible to figure out who did what. Since there will not be as many editors in this one I think we will probably want credits that go through the editors one by one and incorperate some footage from their section. Also I think we will probably be getting rid of the ragtime ending.

Ok all of that sounds good so far, I know that credits are usually the last thing that get done in projects like this anyways, since everyone pretty much has to be either finished or close to it. I'll be posting in here every now and then to let you know im not dead.

3 Name. I'm considering changing the name from ProjeKct Liquid Dream to ProjeKct Life. The first one has better flow but the second one describes it a bit more accuratly. I would appriciate if people would wiegh in breifly on the subject.

I'll second that, I think thematically it's already looking more like a Life kind of project... or projeKct. I'm a little hesitant on the K (certain connotation, heh), but I can't deny it doesn't add a bit of much-needed spice to things :P

Anyways... anyone mind if I start getting ready for doing that first track? I just wrote my only exam, and I'm going to be almost completely free to edit within a few days.

OK Oto, I'll greenlight it. The more I think about it the more I realize that Arjuna is the perfect anime since so much of it (from what I've seen) involves birth, death, and the cycle of life. I've also decided that splitting the intro is a bad idea and that it will work better as a solid stand alone segment. A spectacular intro would do wonders for the rest of the project, watch Shameless Rock Video and you'll see what I mean. That's the beauty of the setup, instead of people watching it and thinking "that was awesome" you have people watching the title screen and thinking, "This is going to be good."

Doesn't Arjuna also have some visual representation of the power that is given to the girl? I could try to recreate that for use in the transitions as Jasper-Isis suggested a while back.

As for the name, I'm more worried about people thinking we can't spell then thinking we're misusing the name. In fact of all the people here who know what ProjeKct refers to I'll bet half of them are on this project.

Wow, that was interesting timing, I just answered your PM 3 seconds ago.

Anyways, Based on the number of responses I've had I think we are going to have space for everyone. Some sections will be longer than others but I'll sort it out somehow.

While I'm answering questions, Bum: I like the idea. A little bit of action would be good for the video as long as it stays withing the bounds of the theme. You want to shoot for showing a progression rather than a single emotional state. For example: Instead of just showing a bunch of scenes of him being depresed show the incident and his reaction to it, then show what he does about it, and possibly the resolution or his coming to terms with it. Instead of showcasing an emotion try to make it as fully fleshed or 3 dimentional a representation of that period in his life as you can, that's the goal of the project. Got a little wordy there, this isn't set in stone but that's the kind of thing we want to shoot for, as long as you avoid a lot of pointless action it should be fine.

Is that some thing you could do with the section at 4:45? I belive you are the only one so far to request it.

Okay. Here's the 2 sections, in order of preferance, that I want to do and what I plan to do with them:

8:17 to 10:08 Bridge/Thematic Break: Anime planned for use- Mai Hime, Naruto, Inu Yasha and Ah! My Goddess (The movie).

8:17 to 8:40- Straight action from differant battles
8:41 to 9:14- The sadness and terror of war/battle
9:15 to 9:32- Fighting for survival (Good side nearly loosing)
9:33 to 10:08- Turnover. Good side wins. (Which should blend into the next setion nicely)

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

0:00 to 1:50 Introduction : Anime planned for use- Naruto

0:00 to 0:40- Naruto as a baby and child and the pain he endures
0:41 to 1:02- Naruto fighting in battles
1:03 to 1:50- How Naruto's life has changed and the joys he's now experianced.

Lemme know which one you'd like me to do. :)

Heh, I already sense that the tracks I think of as my favorites will be quite sought-after here :)

Sounds like an interesting idea; perhaps these aren't the titles I had in mind, but action/conflict/fighting is probably what we need there.

Whoever does this though, I'm gonna be watching this section very carefully - it's a theme I'm very familiar with and would really like to see done well. Let's see how this develops

Alright, I'll get started on the 1st segment shortly, I hope (all I have in the next 10 days is an essay, no classes/exams to worry about for a while). Depending on how this goes, I may have something solid done within a week, or barely get started... but you probably should see something from me by the end of next week regardless.

Speaking of which, have we thought about a main FTP and such?

Oh darn, I just realized something I hadn't before - Arjuna, as I can see, is 16:9. I can probably work around it for the segment through cropping things out and such, but I guess that'll already be a bit of a minus...

I guess I'll just start working with it letterboxed, and see if I can think of a way of 'pretending it's fullscreen'. I really wouldn't want to drop using the show just because of this... :?

I would really like suggestions - anyone dealt with things like that before? What would you do - stretch? Crop? Leave it as is?

I'm experimenting with this myself right now...

***

Edit: I looked at it again, and resizing it to 4:3 doesn't actually look half bad in most places... but I'm still open for advice.

Well, that's letterboxing; that is what you'd normally do - but I believe Pen-Pen is trying to keep all tracks in the same aspect ratio, which is 4:3 (unless he backtracked on that).

I'm actually testing things out now, and the 'stretching' of the image in some scenes is not too bad - and in others, I guess it would just be possible to just crop or letterbox it.
