oh, forgot to add.
the only problem i have with the title "InstruMentality" is that it might suggest this is related to Evangelion. (although it kinda is, but that's not the point of the project).

Well, speaking of "A Boy I Knew..." (in the post right above yours) I'm glad you decided to join up. Vesuvius would be a great addition to our song list (Was it in the first Fantasia or am I thinking of something else?) as far as length If you want to edit the whole 9 minutes, you can go right ahead. Our average song length is about 7 but it ranges from 5 to 13. Speaking of 5-minute videos, if you like Clair de Lune you should check out one of the finished videos, "Tomoe in the Moonlight" on the FTP server that Rose4Emily will mail you. You should also upload whatever you have so far such as song version or a WIP because you can get a lot of good feedback from other project members (which is why this thread is 14 pages long.)

As for the name InstruMentality, it could be an over arching project name, as in "InstruMentality Presents:" or it could be a studio/production group kind of thing. Whatever, it is a cool name though.

I think your thinking of A Night on Bald Mountain which was in the first Fantasia and then Firebird Suite which was in the Fantasia 2000. If you would like me to submit A Boy I knew, i would gladly do so, but i'm kinda eager to do something new.

Yea, I also thought InstruMentality implied a lot of connection to Eva...

But, as a subtitle, it's fine I think.

I'm currently in brainstorm mode, and if you have any more music of interest to put on the FTP - that could be useful. I listened to a lot of music today, but the best I found was a Zappa track that has about 40 seconds of avant-fusion-jazz sort of music, followed by about a minute and a half of.... screeching noise. It would make a hilarious parody video, but frankly - since it's better described as 'evil' than 'beautiful', and really outside what we're doing in the project - I kinda went off it

Then I listened to quite a bit of traditional Chinese music and realized how much I love it yet lack good footage to work with it :(

So, I'm still kind of open here. I'd still like to do something not-really-classical (as I mentioned before, as much as I love hearing it... I never got much joy out of working with it) - the other question is what. So, looking for ideas now...

Hmm... you could try something by Bond...

[As long as it's not Allegretto.]

Ok no techno it is. Would string versions of tool song be OK? I will upload a few so you can decide.

They will be under the name Thrid Eye Open (name of the album I'm not sure of the group who covered the songs name) and I will probably do Schism if acceptable.

I would assume it'd probably be fine; I'd check with the authority here, but I myself wouldn't mind seeing some Third Eye Open AMV's.

Oh yea, Pen-Pen:

Got around to watching your video a few more times, and just some things to watch for:

I'd look over the timing on the sequence between the 'SOS' flashing and the time when that really good glass door shot comes in (about :40 to 2:30) It seems all the new sequences are very smoothly edited, but those in-between parts I have some reservations about - especially how the cuts and transitions are timed. Especially, note these parts:

:50 - :58,
a pop frame at 1:04 (!),
some jerky movement with the guy floating around 1:12,
fades to black from 1:17 to 1:20 and 1:23 to 1:26,
scene changes at 1:45 and 1:46 (they seem to be a split-second too late)
1:48 - 1:55,
a shaky-looking frame around 2:00,
2:14 - 2:17.

Not to say I don't agree with the editing choices, just take a look there and make sure the timing is lined up as closely as you can get it.

I gotta say though, the farther that video goes, the better it seems to get
:)

Does anyone have any idea of an which anime I should use I don't have too many choices I have Akira Hellsing Naruto and Megaman at the moment. Megaman and Akira are dvd rips and Naruto and Hellsing are fansubs.

Don't use hellsing. The fansubs back then were really iffy. I'd say go with Megaman or Akira.

New section uploaded. I finished the rest of the slow part (4:30-5:30) and I liked it so much I decided to do a render of just that part. I had a really hard time deciding wether to use this footage here or put somthing with Miguel and save this footage for a faster section. I think I made the right decition because it turned out pretty well. Check it out!

Thanks Otohiko, I hate that section now and I try to avoid watching it but I'm going to have to fix it eventually. Once I get to the end of the song I might just redo the whole section.

Ooshna - I think a Instrumental Akira video might be very cool. I'll listen to the songs and tell you what I think.[/b]
