hmm, the fullscreen and widescreens don't have separate 'histories', so i don't think we can really split that up. my suggestion would be just use the same text for both vid comments thingies.

I guess that's what we should do - though it might be good to set the tracklist separately and make sure to emphasize that This is part one or something. Otherwise, I can already imagine complaints flowing in about "where is the other half?"
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

Well, the two sections do have different histories. While the difference does make a small impact on the final product, I think that going into it would require going too deeply into the little details of project history. Details that would take too much trouble to dig up, and that most people probably wouldn't be interested in anyway.

That said, I think the main reason why we have two different "settings" for the sections is because we had originally thought up two equally intriguing ideas - so why not put them both to use? Even when I decided to revamp the commentaries, when it would've been easier (and less time-consuming, hah) to just use the same setting and voice as the fullscreen stuff, I wanted to try out the other setting, just because the original ideas still seemed very viable to me.
and make sure to emphasize that This is part one or something. Otherwise, I can already imagine complaints flowing in about "where is the other half?"
With some regard to that, I think that the "Part I, Part II" thing (or some other more elegant variation) should go right into the title of the database entries. The aspect ratio bit can be written at the top of the video descriptions.

Chris, your draft looks good. The quote that you use to start it off fits the project uncannily well. :o I only feel that your writing tends to be a little too technical-sounding. I keep getting reminded of the research report that I'm supposed to have completed by next month. :P

Alright, as per der Fuerer's request, a slight stylistic (and also Jasper-decapitilizing) tweak. I also started writing another part, and I think it might be worth expanding on it a little. For which I again go back to you folks :)
"From time to time the order and selection of compositions on this program may be changed." - from the Playbill of Walt Disney's Fantasia.

Animasia is the first of a series of proposed multi-editor projects, collectively referred to as Instrumentality. Loosely modeled after Disney's Fantasia, Animasia features a series of full-length anime music videos set to instrumental compositions.

<b>History</b>
The original idea for Instrumentality was conceived by Rose4emily, who directed Animasia from April 2004-July 2005. jasper-isis took over the role of project director from July 2005 until its completion in December 2005.

The project was originally motivated by a <a href="http://www.animemusicvideos.org/phpBB/v ... gestion</a> for an "anime Fantasia" by ChiaPetzukamori, as well as a general desire by a number of editors for improving the exposure of instrumental music videos. The Animasia project officially began in April 2004. The bulk of the video editing stage continued until September 2004, but the project’s meta-features (monologues, credits) dragged (at times painfully) until December 2005. Some of the videos included in the project have been completed or mostly completed before the official start of the project, such as A Boy I Knew and Tomoe in the Moonlight, while others were created specifically for the project, including End of all Eva, and Requiem for a Nightmare.

Just as Animasia is not simply a collection of anime music videos, the production of Animasia was not merely a combination of individual video editors creating their own videos. Throughout the project’s development, concepts and segments were conceived, designed, and produced through the feedback and collaboration of the group members. Over its 21-month course, Animasia drew a wide variety of emotions from its contributors (and some prospective fans, I imagine) - but it was an irreplaceable experience for all who were actively involved.

The result is a single one-and-a-half hour feature composed of two separate but interconnecting parts, divided both out of technical and creative considerations: the full-screen segment and the wide-screen segment. The running time includes a total of fourteen full videos, as well as introductory commentaries from their editors.

<i>From time to time the order and selection of compositions on this program may be changed.</i>
- from the Playbill of Walt Disney's <i>Fantasia</i>.

<b>Animasia</b> is the first of a series of proposed multi-editor projects, collectively referred to as Instrumentality. Loosely modeled after Disney's Fantasia, Animasia features a series of full-length anime music videos set to instrumental compositions.

<b>History</b>
The original idea for Instrumentality was conceived by Rose4emily, who directed Animasia from April 2004 to July 2005. Jasper-isis took over the role of project director from July 2005 until its completion in December 2005.

Beginnings of the project materialized in March 2004, in a <a href="http://www.animemusicvideos.org/phpBB/v ... gestion</a> by ChiaPetzukamori for an "anime Fantasia". It was a time when neither instrumental music videos nor multi-editor projects were as prevalent as they are today. When a number of editors vocalized a desire to improve the exposure of instrumental AMVs, they decided to take up this “Animasia” idea in multi-editor form.

Work on the project officially began in April 2004. The bulk of the video editing stage was completed around September 2004, but progress on the project’s meta-features (commentaries, credits, etc.) dragged (at times painfully) until December 2005. The unceasing “Animasia Curse” seemed to thwart progress every time somebody tried to make a prediction on the release date.

<b>Content</b>
The videos featured in Animasia range widely in both their musical and visual genres, from a techno-opera action piece to a nostalgic composition tinkling with classical Impressionist music. Some of the videos included in the project, such as <i>A Boy I Knew</i> and <i>Tomoe in the Moonlight</i>, have been completed or mostly completed before the official start of the project. Others, like <i>End of all Eva</i> and <i>Requiem for a Nightmare</i>, were created specifically for Animasia. Due to the project’s prolonged in-progess status, some of its component videos have been individually released. A few, however, still remain unseen before project release.

Just as Animasia is not simply a collection of anime music videos, the production of Animasia was not merely a combination of individual video editors creating their own videos. Throughout the project’s development, concepts and segments were conceived, designed, and produced through the feedback and collaboration of all the group members. Over its 21-month course, Animasia drew a wide variety of emotions from its contributors (and some prospective fans, we imagine) - but it was an irreplaceable experience for all who were actively involved.

The result is a single feature composed of two separate but interconnecting parts, divided both out of technical and creative considerations: the full-screen segment and the wide-screen segment. Eighty-seven minutes, fourteen full videos, fourteen introductory commentaries, and two main segments compose this project – but to its editors, it is so much more.

Yeah, don't worry about those for now. I think we'll all benefit from a well-deserved break.

So so, did you pick a song? Did you did you? Haha, can't you tell that I'm just itching to have the widescreen segment exported and done with? :P

mm yeah it still reads a bit encyclopediacly.
4 years in bio has wiped away my ability to write in other style. that philosophical writing course didn't help either...

are we gonna use the same text for both vid descriptions then?

bakadeshi: if you are done with the visual part of the video, can you send that to jasper first so she can start encoding that, then send the audio after?

IMPORTANT POST

To instrumentality people:

I just talked to Jasper, and she's planning to have the database entries for the project in tomorrow.

But the official question is thus:

What should be the final title for the project?

The entries would have to have 3 parts

- Animasia (the title of this project)
- something relating to The First Instrumentality/Instrumentality (the title of the concept/movement)
- a format for "part 1/2"

Current ideas:

Animasia: the First Instrumentality Project (Part I) <- proposed by Jasper, seems a tad long
Animasia: First Instrumentality (Part I) <- my idea
Instrumentality: Animasia (Part I) <- Jasper seems in favour of this one last time I checked

Suggestions?
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

"first" isn't necessary in the title imo.
