Started back up on editing now that my teaching is done for the spring semester. Just minor work during the summer with an exception of going to E3, Anime Expo, and SDCC. :awesome:

I'll get some kind of beta actually completed over the next week. :up:

Just finished my exams, looking through my source tonight to see what I can try and use but I might end up switching ideas if it doesn't work out the way I want it. But for now put my source down as Chihayafuru. Though I probably won't have anything on the timeline till sunday because I'm working full shifts the next 3 days. :uhoh:

Edit: Actually add Summer Wars to that too.

AiomAio Beta Review:

I see what you were trying to go for here, but it doesn't seem to work. No offense, and I am going to be blunt here, it doesn't look like much editing was done or at the very least doesn't look like much effort was put in towards syncing. A lot of the time it just looked like one long uncut scene.

Now don't get me wrong. I like the idea you are going for. It just needs better execution. The video itself doesn't seem to keep up with the pace of the audio. So, you are going to need to pace with the beats if this is the idea you are going for. I would also suggest keeping it just at Summer Wars. The 2 anime choices seem to clash. Summer Wars footage is extremely pretty. Then it switches to not so sparkly footage.

I suggest beat syncing more and upping the pace and then you should be golden.

Sorry if this sounded reeally harsh, I just want to help bring out the best possible in people who are involved in CascadaThon.

@ Aimo

I really like the concept, but I agree that the pacing needs to pick up a bit - I think that 0:13 to 0:20 should follow the harder beats more. However, I do like 0:20-0:29 quite a bit. I'm not sure weather it's your style to do this, but perhaps add an overlay to 0:20-0:29 to accent the music?

I almost want to see the Summer Wars scenes re-arranged a bit...like seeing the very beginning of Natsuki's tranformation [Which I think is the scene before the one you used in the beginning of the beta] in the beginning of your track, then move the first two scenes you used to somewhere a bit later. I'm not entirely sure where to put them [Agaim, maybe overlay?] but just something to think about.

I do say keep Chihayafuru though. I think unless you were to scrap your theme there wouldn't be enough footage to use with just Summer Wars. Plus Chihayafuru seems pretty underused as far as MEPs go.

I was going for internal sync actually. :sweat: But since you prefer beatsync, that's not a problem, I'll take a look in adding more beatsync. I did also want to stick with just Summer Wars because it felt more sparkly but then there'd be no theme and Summer Wars doesn't exactly have a lot of shininess apart from Natsuki's transformation & the card battle. (which isn't that long either) I will be trying to enhance the sparkliness in the Chihayafuru section by adding particles later but I'm still in process of working out how to get them to explode the way I want in AE so it'll take a while. :uhoh:

@Hagaren

By overlay, you mean overlay beatsync or just one long overlay so there's something just there so it doesn't feel empty? 0:10 is a filler scene so I'll probably reshuffle the transformation at the start to somewhere around there. I understand most of your points though and 0:13-0:20 is already fixed. :mrgreen: Also we need more Chihayafuru love so I won't be removing it completely. <3

I think I"m just gonna resign as Co-ordinator. My will to edit has been shattered.

Edit: Disregard the above statement. I was upset and I've had time to think about it. I'm still coordinator of C3. I was just upset at the time of the posting.

I almost did resign. Was this close to really not giving a damn anymore. Look at the results for round 2 of quickening and you'll know why.

I'm over it now, but damn if the reults didn't hurt my pride. E.E.'s vid beat me? Fuckin seriously? Lol.

Needless to say, I wasn't the only one upset about it.

I would like a progress report though. Now that I don't have to worry about the farse that is The Quickening, I can concentrate on my track.

Uh, progress report. Got other stuff that I'm working on ATM (POE the most notable), I haven't really touched Night Nurse, although it's almost done (just need to make a another round of tweaks), so it's not the track that should be worried about.

Uh, there are two finals with me now? I hate HItori's and my own Pyromania.

@Aimo: I think cutting out Summer wars and focusing on Chiya might do your track more justice. I can see the internal sync, but this MEP is a majority beat sync (from what I have seen anyway), so it would likely look out of place in the grand scheme of things. Still nice choice with anime, can't wait to see where it goes from there.

Oh no worries about that, I decided to go with beatsync afterall so I've redone a lot of the sections. The only thing that's kinda weird is that the hard beats overlap with the softer beats so while I've synced the scene to the hard beat, it looks like I did it for the soft beat. It's only noticeable if you watch it for the first few times because if you start looking for the beatsync, you can see it quite easily. I have no idea why this is happening. :rofl: I've added some particles now but I'm kinda skeptical about them since they look kinda...silly. xD And I'm still in process of adding some overlay sync at 0:23-0:24 but otherwise, I should have a tidier, better paced beta sent out tonight. ^^

Kaze, your beta is so beautiful that I was left speechtextless. Seriously, just finish it up and then I might be nitpicky about a scene or two, but nothing that I thought about.
