I'm finally participating! Watching now. All of these are good, it's gonna be hard to think of what to cut o_o

As to the above conversation though, I watched 3 before I was involved in this, and I actually thought the head on stuff was pretty funny the first time around. I guess the thing now though is that they don't really play those commercials anymore. Maybe keep like one of them? I also noticed there's two very similar "Haruhi plays her concert" clips (a mambo number 5 one and dragonforce one). I'm thinking we should keep just one of the two.
Also for the Geico ones...I really feel like the Tutu one is essentially for the set up, and the pokemon one for a sort of "finale", and the Tenchi one just always gets a huge reaction. The other two (the Azumanga and Haruhi ones) are way weaker by comparison and could probably go with no issues.
Oh also I still have a clean textless version of the hypnotoad Geico money if you want to include it in some way since it always got such huge laughs. Also if you end up keeping the rubber duckie one, I know from my own viewings of it, I could just feel the interest in it dying after the circle closes in on the doo doo dobie do part and the second kind of verse begins. Stopping it there was something I wish I'd been able to change.

I agree on all counts in general. For rubber ducky, if it'll shave off some time, perhaps we could experiment with shortening it like you were talking about.

And I assumed that the Geico clips would be set in the right order soon, but if not, then yes, it needs to match the setup in AMVS4, since that made it strongest. I don't know how strong it'll be without all of them though, it really had an incredible buildup, even with the weaker ones, they truly did make it as strong as it was as a whole with them, but you're right, they do have the possibility of being cut since this is shorter as well... plus we have multiple running gags going on. So we'll have to try it out, probably in the next version?

For dragonforce, sadly I'd vote for the longer one. The shorter one is the followup joke of sorts, but the longer one is just badass and I just feel good seeing it every time.

I'll send in my list of potential cuts soon.

If this isn't happening fast enough, then I say screw the PMs. Let's just discuss it openly so we can get it over with. This isn't about hurting feelings, it's about time limits, and that's part of any production. I'll just list my reasons for choosing certain clips. I will only be choosing clips that aren't mine, and then list all the ones that are mine in case people have forgotten so that they can see them and choose which ones can be cut, because I'm biased and like all of mine otherwise I wouldn't have made them. Like I said before, I'll try to choose a couple of the ones that would benefit the production in terms of time-to-comedy ratio, but really it should be you guys to say which of mine are not as strong as others.

Anyway, here are my potentials that do not include my own clips, and this is really god damn hard to choose from, seriously...

Kung Fu Panda Cardcaptor Sakura - Tough choice, but the quality of the text and layout always felt weak to me, and the buildup was a bit long compared to most others. Still one of my favorites though... damn this time limit.
Bird is the Word - No great reason besides the footage quality doesn't compare to the others in this vid, and I've always had an issue with the spastic animation at the end.
Hajime no Ipppo Head On - Just feel it's too obvious to be considered as good as other clips personally.
(Potential) Full Metal Panic Adobe - Had trouble with this one back in AMVS3 as well... I think it's too focussed on editors honestly, even if I absolutely love the connection.
(Shortening Rubber Ducky) - Would like to give this a shot.
Haruhi Mambo #5 - Sacrifice this for the other Dragonforce one I say.
Both the Snow Fairy Sugars - The contrast in muffled audio makes it kinda hard to understand... just for clarity purposes I feel I can bring these up as a potential.
Meow Mix - Was an excellent little clip, but I don't consider it among the strongest in the bunch.
Popular Kids - The one with Ed holding baby Armstrong. The footage put this one in for me. Just seems lower quality in general compared to the others so it could be distracting, and personally I don't feel it's as strong a joke, but I'm sure audiences reacted differently.
I am really special - Personally I only really laughed at 'welcome to my happy world now get your shit and leave' otherwise I find the song a bit annoying. I still like it, but... well... choices to make.
Popotan Touch Myself - Shock humor really, and a risky clip these days I guess. When I saw it originally I just went "...WHOA! DAMN! Is that even allowed...!?" ^^ Sure as hell catches the viewer off guard, though.
Crazy Laugh things clips at the end - I'd say the last three are worth keeping. The dog one has obvious editing glitches, the ed one before it is better, but I like the active randomness and reactions of the last three more.

Unfortunately the obvious choices to cut are the longer ones, but they're some of our best, so it's going to be tough no matter what. I'm leaving out the larger clip potentials like Commander in Heat and Death Note Family Guy as long as possible.

If I have to choose a couple that needed to go, then I could sacrifice Beck Fumokrakish, since it's longer and only has a couple jokes, even if I truly love it. The second one I would put as Barry the Slap Chopper. I can only choose these two personally because I know they're in AMV Hell 5 as well. My AMVS3 stuff I really want to see in a crowd again and get a reaction video since I couldn't in 2009. It's honestly a selfish reason, but I still think they're some of my better ones. And most of them are quite short.

Anyway, my choice doesn't matter, I'll leave my clips to you guys to decide on since you won't be biased.

Several cuts were made, a tentative order has been set, and the template for closing credits is there.
Debating whether or not to do full credits and, instead, just introduce the editors featured as in what you'll see at the end.
Total time so far, all inclusive, is 30m35s, which means we have to try and shave around five more minutes (as difficult as this is to do).
Anyway, hope you like what we have so far.

Well, we're still where we were before, but I like the order a lot more ^^ ...and I rhymed...

I was kind of hopping through, but I only saw a couple of the "SMOKE" ones. If I missed them, my bad, but I want to make sure we don't lose that one. Far's I'm concerned it's the creation of the running gag and the reason Salad is any more special than Hell, so it deserves its place of honor ^^ And I was going to put 'don't always die from tobacco' on the potential chopping block until you put "Ya smokin' yet!?" after it. Now it's too epic to go -_-

In all honesty, I'm not fond of the intro and ending. The intro is a good idea, but the execution's currently pretty random without purpose. In Redeath it was playing off the scene and sound, but in your case you're playing off of Redeath, which is a fun idea, but I think rather than just random footage of different anime where there are instruments present, you should do a joke on the instrument itself and maybe we could edit together Ryuusuke or someone else from the animes shown looking like they're playing the violin on their guitar. That would be a bit stronger I think. Plus, considering time is our issue, I think we can shorted that intro so it's not the full redeath parody, basically starting it at the violin solo at 2:19 instead and that cuts off a full 20 seconds that we desperately need. People who know it will recognize it just fine, and those who don't will just be confused.

For the ending, I personally have issue with using an overdone meme in the first place, but without the actual nyancat there, it's completely and utterly random. I mean, I've seen the original nyancat/hetalia video you posted here and this even confused me. If you're going to include credits over it, that'll be way to much stuff on screen. Realistically, this one's going to be a nightmare when it comes to time, so we may have to consider doing two rows of credits just to get it out of the way and save a minute. We want to keep as many of these clips as possible since they are the focus. Plus I noticed the Haruhi credits clip is gone. It's an okay one to go, but even if it played under credits, I think it'll be fine.

I mean we usually are trying to do tags at the end, but perhaps we could just label our clips as usual, screw the tags, and save time by putting clips in the credits? It could be worth a quick experiment. I'm thinking you're right and pedobear may be better outside the credits this time just to mix things up so it's not "AMV Salad 4 plus old clips." So Haruhi's credits missing stings the overall joke, and I think people will notice they're not there, but it also frees up the main Haruhi clip to go anywhere rather than being locked to the end.

As for that text at the end, it's a good 30 seconds long right now. I'm sure at the very least it could be reduced, but most of the information seems kind of unnecessary in the extra time. We always put that at the end of the credits usually, right?

Anyway, this dancing around the time limitation is really tough. My focus is maximizing clip time more than anything else, but this ain't easy. I wouldn't cut anything if I could.

I saw a lot of accidental pairings when I initially threw these things in alphabetical order.
The Pedobear one just happened to come before "Child Molester" and I meant to just put a plain "Smoke" after the "Truth" spot but they both look the same and I got em mixed up with "Smokin yet?"
There were a couple of other happy accidents in there but I don't remember at the moment.
I simply forgot to put the ending to Haruhi in at the end but also wasn't quite sure how to handle its placement this time since I was trying to do the thing with Hetalia and the tags.
I also tried to play with the dialogue a bit by placing Thundercatlord's where China is squealing, "Look at the kittyyyyyy!" and having the countries pointing and razzing the editors.
I wasn't trying to poke fun at moonbunnychan's tag but it seemed appropriate the way it fell.
I'm not entirely sure what to do about ending credits if we scrap the "Countries React" but you made a decent point about not having tags in with both videos.
Only thing is there are several editors who weren't in AMVS5.
If we did a full-on credit roll, we're gonna have to cut even more clips to make the 25-minute mark unless they go by at an accelerated speed.
But I'm with you on the opening title.
It was just an idea.
I'm open to suggestions but again time is a consideration.
This project is unique in that we're actually trying to cut time rather than expand it for once.

I gotta say, until you mentioned it I never saw the connection between pedobear and molester. I still think it's a bit too different in clip styles to feel that connected beyond subject matter though, so I don't think you need to work hard to keep them near one another. They're similar length, so using them as break-up clips seems strongest. But the Don't Always Die from Tobacco and then the complete non-give-a-shititude of the guy afterwards with that insistent voice just made me lose it. It reminded me of how I felt back in the time the Truth commercials were so hippy that I started rooting for the smokers even if I can't stand them. That combo's going to be a great one I think.

BTW, can you please uncensor the One Piece clip again? That one was much worse with censoring even back in AMVS4. Plus it's kinda pointless to censor it when we've got "FUCKING JUMP!!" and "FUCK YOO!!" in there anyway ^^ Like I said, I want that uncensored at least once somewhere that people can see it as it was intended.

With a full credit roll though, I was thinking of replacing it with the Hetalia one honestly. I know you want to try it, but at the very least in its current iteration I just don't think it works. Even with the Nyancat there, I didn't quite know what was happening or what I was supposed to be paying attention to. This is probably an instance where the audience of younger viewers may get something from it, but really I am just saying that, because I don't know, but I'm not too fond of the idea.

I'll try to come up with more potential cuts, but we really need moonbunnychan, krvabo and anyone else who can help to make some suggestions too to see what kind of overlap we have *nudge nudge wink wink hint hint ^^*

I've been on vacation at Disney World hence my lack of posting lol.

I can't say I'm terribly fond of the little intro thing either. It just seems so far off from what everything else in it is.

I agree with a bunch of what Gaelstrom said earlier actually lol. It's still hard to choose though since I LIKE all of them.
Anyway though, the bird is the word one I've never really gotten the whole like...match.com thing at the end. I dunno, it's just not one of my favorites. I really think the Rubber Duckie one works better in this shortened form. It's just enough time to make the connection. Every time I see the "voice authorization....uh" one I laugh just like the first time I ever saw it XD
Still not super fond of the two snow fairy sugar ones. The internet is for porn one...I dunno. I know when it was made this wasn't an overdone meme, but now it really is. I feel kinda similar about the All Your Base one, although that one is starting to go full circle from overdone to kind of cool in the ironic nostalgia kind of way. The popular kids one doesn't really have the polish the other videos do and kind of has that "I made this in Windows Movie Maker and uploaded it to youtube" feel. As much as I hate to downvote a Princess Tutu video, I feel like the chicken dance one isn't one of the strongest ones either. I kinda feel the "welcome to my happy place" one is weaker too...the end is a great punchline but the rest is just sort of there. I'm sorta torn on the Brady Bunch one too. I REALLY like it, but then I've also seen that anime. If you haven't the laughs it gets are more just sort of of the wtf variety. Plus it's kind of long. The enormous penis one is one of my favorites for humor, but the quality of the video is pretty grainy.

I actually liked the "kids react to" ending lol. I giggled a lot. My only worry with it is that attention will just be all over the place. The text at the end is a little long. I'd cut the "amv salad 6 is now in production" part and just leave it at "download 1-4 at a-m-v.org"
The Geico stuff did loose it's build up impact only being three...but if you are gonna do 3 I'd space it so there's one at the beginning, one at the middle, and one at the end.

Enourmous Penis: I left it out because we really lack musical funny ones in this bunch, because the funniest clips really tend to be the 'skits,' but the video quality really sets it apart from the rest I hate to say. If we can keep more musical ones for the sake of balance, I'd like to try, since we already have so few.

Tutu Chicken Dance: It was so short and is so blatantly an audience participation one to keep the energy up. People WILL be clapping by the second verse, so it's too strong in that regard, and short enough to harm nothing by leaving it in I felt, even if the joke itself isn't necessary a 'lol' situation.

Intro: In terms of the intro and end, I'm getting to the point of just saying 'screw it, let's just use the time for pure entertainment' and cut out ALL extraneous stuff. This is basically a warmup for AMVS5 and a harkening back to some of our funniest moments, so really we should play off of that and cut out all the 'big production' stuff. Plus Redeath isn't known very much outside of select cons, many of which don't seem to overlap AMVS's crowd or those who will download on the .org. What could be done is to incorporate a clip as the intro, like "GET UP, GET UP, GET UP, DROP THE BOMBSHELL... *BOOOOOOOOM* And just have a title sequence come in, and 'reheated' becomes ironic with a nuke going off behind it. I could potentially do some aftereffects work to have some god-rays going between 3D text as an eye catch from the nuke. Problem there is we may have to find that nuke clip to lengthen it so we have time for the title sequence but that shouldn't be too hard. Plus Darkness is on youtube, perhaps we could message him.

Kids React: The attention being everywhere is my worry for Kids React, and realistically no matter how hard we try, I don't see that ever being solved considering it's the credits. Clips under the credits is already risky, but credits, animations, and tags is just asking for trouble. If I were completely honest about it, I would say this is a hetalia fans only thing. I don't particularly find it very wide-ranged in its gratification outside of that demographic. If I were to estimate audience reactions, I'd say the girls would be entertained, some guys would be entertained by the girls being entertained, but probably some confusion on what the joke is exactly unless you've seen the video before. An experiment I think is worth trying is seeing what clips we can get under the credits, and see about foregoing our tags this time in place of having each clip labeled as ours. This way we save on time by getting clip/credit overlap a bit as well. May not work, but worth a shot.

All Your Base/Internet for Porn: Ironic nostalgia for All Your Base and Internet For Porn was how I felt, but I too must agree that All Your Base is catchy and well-edited to go with the joke, plus the melting at the end is its own joke. Internet for Porn doesn't quite have as strong a clip, but was short enough I felt it would fit the nostalgia factor. If forced to choose though, I'd sacrifice it due to the uncertainty of where the audience would stand currently.

End: I'm for cutting out nearly all the text, if not all, at the end, or shoving it all on one screen. May seem rushed, but who cares about advertising our shit. They'll see it or their won't, and all they need is to know where and how to find it later. Nor do half of them care that AMVS6 is in production if they've seen 5, because we already announced it. All things must go toward clips above all else, even at the risk of being rushed in my opinion.

My clips: Moonbunnychan, even if you're the only one who is able for now, I'd like you and Deuce to take your picks on which of my clips you'd like to cut (if any). I would prefer most of my AMVS3 clips get precedence to remain, since I want a reaction vid of them for once, but I feel it's best to leave the choice to others. I really like all of mine, so I really can't choose... sorry, it's kinda pathetic.

All of yours are some of the absolute strongest though. If I HAD to pick one, I'd pick the Men's Warehouse one.

And everything I posted isn't really a "lets cut these ones", because I like ALL of them quite a lot. More of a "If I really needed to nit pick some things in clips". There's really not a single clip in this run that I'd flat out be 100 percent for cutting.

I'm for cutting the text at the end too. Especially since the credits at the end of 5 say where to download that one.

I love the countries reacting though, if not for the credits but I'd love to see it used for SOMETHING, if not for this then maybe for something in 6. It had me actually "laughing out loud".

Funny you should say that, that's the one that I thought of too. But I also wanted to see it in a crowd again because Men's Warehouse always confused me in the reaction it got. Everyone was silent at Otakon during it until the end when they seemed to lose it once the logo came up. That one must have the most unexpected reaction for me out of all of mine, because I chose it initially for the Fruits Basket/manly voice/flambuoyancy combo of it. And I figured at the very least girls and/or Fruits Basket fans would get a kick out of it, but I can't even tell if that's the case ^^ I still laugh at him saying those lines even now, personally ^^ SOOO manly yet soooo not...

And yeah, if I had my choice, nothing else would be cut either, but we're at the point where we basically have to choose what to cut based on what clips we have a saturation of I guess. I hate to think it, but the most obvious choices are a couple longer clips so that we maintain some variety in a short production. Sony POS, Death Note Family Guy, Commander in Heat, Haruvi Baadoman, Gurren Rock and (up until the recent shortening) Rubber Ducky all comprise a fourth of the entire production's final time. I'm attached to mine of course, since I believe they're the best ones I've ever made hands down, and Death Note is... well... hehe ^^ Commander in Heat is just beautiful, Rubber Ducky's shortening makes it perfect, and Gurren Rock draws in the nostalgia of the audience strongly.

I'd like, first and foremost, to try and get some more clips into the credits, and use a clip for the intro, to maximize time and clips usage. I think if you truly like Kids React that it should be given the time it deserves in 6, since this one's already hurting my conscience at the thought of having to cut any more ^^

One possibility is just foregoing the credits entirely and saying 'grab these on the .org' and those who care enough to ask 'what anime was that' can go find it. May be a bit abrupt, but it may work. Although then we won't be identified, and I know you want to be, as do I. *sigh* ...say it Heero.

If I had to pick a single clip to pick right now, I'd pick the Brady Bunch one...due to length and obscurity of anime. If you've seen that show it's hilarious, but from all the times I've seen it the main reaction was more "...what???" followed by laughs but not laughing at the joke it's self.

Have it in the corner at the beginning then fade away after a few seconds. That way there's credit without a need for running credits.

I know, myself, I'm drawn away from having to read something on the screen, which is why I prefer dubs over subs for anime.

No, it's not because of subs or dubs or anything like that. It's that things flashing on screen actually do distract our peripheral vision, and repeated offenses of that do actually take away from an overall production. Music videos on TV can get away with it, I don't think we can sadly.

I'd forgotten about Brady Bunch, and since we do have to cut things, I must agree, that one should probably be one of them. The reason I like it even without knowing the anime is that it has good visual humor that anyone can laugh at. The reactions aren't so much '...what??' so much as 'this is ridiculous ^^' The clip wouldn't have worked if it weren't for the great writing timing, like some kind of editor desperately trying to keep up with the inconsistencies of the song until they just gave up. If you watch the reaction vid again with the volume up, you can catch a lot of subtle reactions that are amusing. But yeah, it's a longer skit one that also has a long end even after the joke is done...

It has a special place in my heart though because it was the perfect clip for just before the Jojo car one ^^ Perfect transition from happy happy brady bunch to boredly plowing through pedestrians!

And don't worry, I wouldn't put Commander in Heat on the chopping block at all. Nephrite as Julia Roberts with Sean Connery's voice automatically puts it in immortality. Plus, as much as I am in love with my choice to have Itsuki as Peanut from Harvey Birdman, his best line in AMVS4 was still "Has anybody seen my pants?" with that shit-eating smirk of his ^^
