Hehe, the concept sounds good as a premise in the 'amusing' side of things. I haven't seen the new thundercats, but it also doesn't really count as anime to most people really even if it's animated by the same koreans :) The song was used for Naruto becoming Hokage years ago, so I'm not sure. I'm not adverse to trying things of course, but based solely on the idea's premise and not knowing what Liono goes through, I'd say it'll be a cute connection, but not particularly laughable. Knowing that audience, it'll probably get some cheers for use of thundercats, that's for sure. If you want to do it, go for it, but if you're fishing for funny ideas I think you'll have more fun with a new idea. One thing you can do is think of the last 5 things that really made you laugh out loud on TV or something sound-based, and then see if they can work for an anime. I got something for that, and if I can repair my damn computer and reinstall After Effects, I'll get to it -_-

Hell at this point I'm close to begging you to do more explosion clips :D The Casino explosion still makes me laugh like the first time.

hell I can pull "that's so fluffy" and explosion clips out all day if we needed ;P

as for the last funny bits, that's why I was looking for ambulance clips. Had this really great Greys Anatomy sound bite but no footage to use for it. DAMN anime not having anything in the way of medical shows :( but oh well. I'm still working on it. I may play around with a few ideas with the thunder cats though. If I can find it I have an almost finished tv commercial I started for 4 that involves the OLD gold fish commercial with the tune "until they bite their heads off" with Ponyo...I'll see if I can find it if it survived the last two computer hard drive crashes that is...

I don't know how many of you have seen puss in boots but this cat cracked me up! I think we could come up with some pretty funny "ohhh" moments ^_^

Haha, yes, that cat was quite the epic joke throughout the movie. To be honest, I don't really know how we'd pull that off though. It's a joke that's sort of visual as well as auditory if you think about it. It has to be the same cat, or same face. Maybe if there was a character who everyone knew as some sort of cheeky character and he/she was masked in to certain scenes or something it would have continuity, but personally I'm having trouble figuring out how I'd make a clip or running gag out of it that wouldn't be over a good chunk of the audience's heads. Do you have any ideas that come to mind?

Hey, guys. I had this idea last year, I think I brought it up, but I'm not sure. I remembered it the other day, and figured I'd mention it again. It was a shame it couldn't have been last year, since I did the Dr. Who intro, but there was an idea I had where Daleks would be invading the scenes of random anime. I think at least some of us know what the Daleks are, but basically the idea is you take scenes where dramatic or important things are happening, and then mask in a Dalek going "Exteeerrminate!!" and have it fire through the scene and then the camera would fizzle out. And you could have like a whole cluster of them pop out eventually, depending on the scene.

Actually it doesn't have to be Daleks, it can be any character or characters interfering with a scene potentially through windows and doors. That may offer some running gag possibilities. Does that give anyone any ideas?

What do you think of the Dalek potential? How many of you have seen the new Dr. Who? We can grab Daleks from there and just kind of move them around, but that is a bit more complex.

Looking at the time line, it appears we are approaching 6m30s without intro or credits.
This includes my contributions.
I realize any of us can only do as much as we have time or creative power for.
Forcing oneself to put anything together will likely come out overwrought unless you just have a special talent for being funny all the time.
Given how ten minutes is gonna be a stretch this year, this should be known as "Late Night Snack" or something to that effect.
We have a total of 28 clips.
I'm sure we can get this thing to ten minutes.
I'm gonna see what else I can throw in to fill it out more.

ALSO...I need everyone to send their clip info to me!
I need to send it with the submission form.
Otakorp legal crap and all that...

I think the dalek idea would be great if you have some footage already...I unfortunately don't have any doctor who footage and am unsure if I could get and rip any to be high quality and be able to do anything with before the deadline. Masking isnt really my forte with moving objects but I could give it a try. I could find a whole bunch of "important" moments in what I have to add to it..or even awkward ones :P if you have a clip allready set up to show that would be great too ^_^ but I really like that idea. It would also tie in the previous salad too I think using doctor who in it as opposed to the intro

Only 6 and a half minutes, huh? Well there is one plus, and that is that Scott says that as long as we have something in by the deadline showing our timeframe, we have more time to work on it.

My hard drive decided to tell me it was failing, and for the last two weeks my windows installer has been killing my After Effects until I finally figured out the issue. It made no sense, because it was working fine, then windows decided to delete a registry file, and reinstalling didn't help...

Anyway, I'll get to the intro soon, and I have another clip almost done. A short 15-second one, but another one nonetheless.

I want to check with Scott to know our real "We're assembling everything together" completion. He's said for the last couple years as long as we have the rough draft and the paper work with a general timeline assumption, we're good to go and have some extra time.

I guess this year creativity hasn't been our friend very much, but I get the feeling we can have some inspiration.

As for the dalek idea, I have a bunch of footage of Dr. Who. If you have scenes you think could work, please mention them to me and I'll check them out. I have an arsenal of anime. The basic idea is that in the midst of various scenes, some quiet, some dramatic, some action-based, the Daleks would randomly show up with similar timing to the Geico Money and I would put in a bunch of explosions and beams and such.

It would start out with a clip that doesn't really make sense, where they kind of show up and maybe the character reacts, and then they do the exterminate, and end the scene with the beam. Then, as the clips go on, it interrupts the scene faster and faster, maybe even culminating in one right after the other just to catch them off guard. I'm thinking maybe 5 or 6 max, just like Geico, would fit the timing well.

If you have trouble with masking and moving objects, then I can sort of be the 'weapon' and edit it together. I just need my friends to help me search for Dalek footage and I should be good. We can have them pop in in windows, opening doors, showing up in hallways as characters turn corners, that type of thing.

The other idea was the Death Star one, which is considerably simpler, and has a similar execution. But if people have some fun ideas what scenes can be interrupted, if any help is necessary, we can collaborate to get it done. Even if we only have ten minutes, we'll make it a kickass ten minutes.

We still have a good month left. 15 days to deadline, but like I said, we have some extra time thanks to the new server at Otakon. I'll have to check with Scott though to be sure.

Hey, Deuce, quick thought to throw out there as a possibility if things just don't work, why not just add the clips into Reheated and make it sort of a 'special' for Otakon and then we can decide how we want the clips to be uploaded afterward.

I think we can get to 10-15 minutes easily this year still, but everyone needs to be in contact. We don't need to be long, we just have to be funny. But if we can do a 45 minute special of Reheated with the new clips peppered in to keep them on their close if worse comes to worst, then I think it could work.

But I still think we can pull this off.

I'd rather keep a presence in two places ("classics" night and new parody block) than dominate one.
The idea of ReHeated is to review where AMVS has been for those who aren't yet familiar with it.
We also need to consider the short attention span of the general con attendee.
The clips provide for that but the extended length for the project itself wouldn't.
If one show is too long, people will either leave before it's over or come into the middle of it from wanting to see whatever comes after.
I get the reasoning behind your idea but I'd rather keep the new stuff separated.
