How do you feel about an introductory clip leading into this intro, like a scene before the opening to give it a TV show feel? The best example I can think of is Will & Grace or ATHF. The Happy Meal thing, perhaps? Just throwing ideas out there...

I'm definitely open, especially if it can tie into the main idea of the theme. If we even really have a theme. But the Happy Meal idea could work, but really I'd rather see a running gag that will work through a good 4 or 5 different clips. The Happy Meal audio is so specific, I'd have to see it done really convincingly to think it's worth it, personally. I'm sure it's doable, but I'm not seeing it myself. I'm trying to wrack my brain for footage and a connection that would make it funny. My thought is instead of just having the Geass Effect instantly start, do an actual small scene to lead into it as title credits (not too much longer, though). If this isn't worth it for an intro, then it's not really worth it to continue. I love the music, it's attention-grabbing and works well to draw people in like most good intro songs. What if somehow some Code Geass footage could be adapted to be Happy Meal related and Lelouche orders someone to do something related to a happy meal? The problem is it kind of injects two ideas into one and like any time that's done has the strong potential to ruin the impact of both. My perception is this loses impact if it's not played as close to the beginning as possible. If the ATHF intro style thingy can be incorporated into Code Geass, then it may just be that much stronger in collusion.

If I can find a good Dr.Weird spot, Lelouch would be the Dr and the other guy (I always forget his name) as the lab assistant. I'll see what I can find and leave a ZIP file DL link full of sound clips here.

Thanks for those, I've always wanted to use a couple of them :D If I move fast, I may be able to. I don't honestly see how they could work in conjunction with the Code Geass clip though... one thing is if Suzaku would be Steve, and then randomly shifts to Quagmire it confuses the audience and kills it, whether they consciously notice at first or not. The Quagmire line is just the best one I've found for that situation, I'm sure there could be others, but the delivery, the situation, and his face all worked well for me. So if someone had another idea of what could be said, I'd be happy to explore it. I also intend to cut out the white screen and show his face longer before he says the line so it's not so abrupt. Again, it was a rough cut.

But in general, I just have to ask if people like the idea and it works for them, understanding that this is the base, of course. If nobody likes it, I need to stop now and we need to put together another intro. But bear in mind, I think the intro needs a lot of good impact to make people interested right off the bat. I saw AMVS4 at the con I showed it at, as long as someone was in the room, they were hooked with the Onion's trumpet fanfare.

I think it would be the most epic and attention-grabbing intro to date.
The fact that this project has custom-made opening like this further legitimizes it in the eyes of the casual viewer.
Either way, scan through the compilations and see if you can find anything that might work.
I'm hoping for the best.
I might even do a Dr.Weird spot myself but still have a couple theme clips to finish so I dunno...

Ok, I just really didn't have ANY time to work on this today, and I have to get up super early tomorrow. I will try to finish it Monday evening, if that is okay.

Tonight is only the FIRST call for clips but we can't take it for granted.
Post begins on May 3 mostly so we can get a good running start on finishing this thing.
The absolute end for submissions is June 1.
This MUST be completed by June 15 - no excuses or exceptions.

Don't you mean the Beta needs to be complete by the 15th? Based on reactions from the test at that con it may need some tweaking. I honestly hope you do accept some after that for a week, since it takes exactly 5 minutes to add in, and about 20 to render. I have a lot of obligations this week and next. I'll be doing my best to get the intro complete the beginning between now and then for that con with as much reasonable content as possible (The cool part is I can add in some and that'll work for a beta and add more after as I'm able since it's just quick additions), but I want to get another few quick clips done after that before we must get this thing sent to Otakon. If you're worried about last year, just remember your junked computer was a major cause of the clip collection issues ^^ We've got solid infrastructure (and you've got a solid computer) this year... just... all the regulars seem to have life happening right around this time more than last year.

Well,...I based this schedule on the Otakon parody submission deadline.
Since they have an FTP now, provided any further revisions are needed after AMA, it's gonna be a tight squeeze.
I know you're still working with Scott on the Otakon parodies.
I just answered several threads since I got so far behind.
Since the final FTP submission date for parodies is less than a week after AMA I could only afford a few days to make a final, polished version if it's necessary.

Yeah, but I'll have to check with him as well, because since it's FTP based now, or at least as far as I understand it, the submission date is to guarantee placement and so they know what type of programming they can prepare for. But you may be able to update said file after it's guaranteed its place. I'm not sure, but I believe we can update submissions if truly necessary, but I'm not trying to push too hard. If I can have until the end of June I may be able to finish the intro and get another 2, 3, or even 4 small clips done.

The biggest issue, the reason I think we need extra time, is we STILL don't have a running gag everyone agrees on. If we don't have a running gag, we may as well be AMV Hell. That's not a bad thing, but the running gag is really important, I realize that more and more with each year. We now have a tried and true running gag so we know the elements that make a good one thanks to moonbunnychan's and Miko's efforts. Nobody seems to be answering my alternatives, and I haven't seen any more suggestions, and I don't have time as far as I'm aware to make a bunch of clips and this intro in the allotted time.

So seriously, what do you all want?
