So mark it on your schedules - it's on!Okay, it was rough but we got it to work. In watching it again I
noticed we missed one, but we'll get away with it. The trouble isn't
that there's only one "f" bomb. It's that there's one PER VIDEO. So
in three hours there are like 10 of them. *sigh*
Anyway, we got it in and we got it to work. I couldn't get you in for
Friday night with the rest of the new stuff. We just had too much. I
swapped you out for the AMV Salad 3 we had planned. Just so you know,

Re: AMV Salad 4: TV Dinner (Convention Premiere TBA)
Great news, and bad news I guess... I really wanted to see AMVS3 again, and I don't really recognize... well most of those.
Deuce, I have an idea. This may work. Remember when they played AMV Hell 3.14 in front of AMVS2 one night a couple years ago? Could you perhaps write an e-mail like "I have a compromise idea that may work great. What if you played AMVS3 during seating for either Friday or Saturday, that way people have something to watch as they're sitting and people are arriving that was on the previous year and it'll get them in the mood for the actual fanparody block." and you can remind them that they did it with a previous AMVS (I forget which one.)
I think if you were to thank them profusely for letting AMVS4 in and offer this alternative to them, perhaps it will grant us a possibility.
I say let's go for it, the worst they can do is say no, and EVERYONE likes more good entertainment rather than less, and AMVS3 has proven itself.
Can you please give it a shot Deuce? Let's keep going for it until we get a definite no. Possibility always exists as long as action and compromise are in the mix. I may have learned that from a life coach seminar, but it sure as hell is true ^^

Re: AMV Salad 4: TV Dinner (Convention Premiere TBA)
Final word from Otakon (Scott Melzer)...

And I can't stress this enough. There are only three weeks and a few days until Otakon. We were on borrowed time as it is. Also, there probably weren't as many submissions that year as there were this year (which might explain the inclusion of Leebop, Dr.Tran, and others which had been run for many years before). They had to choose what to play so not all submissions made it.
That said, there is no room for a replay of AMVS3. Otakon has a schedule to keep tight and running on time. Asking them to add a half-hour "pre-show" would be like me rushing the panel out of the room before my allotted time so I can set up to play my audience in. Also, the parody list has already been set so all that's left is to put the shows together, which I know is gonna take time.
Let's not rock the boat by asking for any more than we've been able to get. Otakon is our stage for world premieres and I wanna preserve that.
Perhaps we might have to think about making the transition somehow less annoying? It is a tad abrupt, visually speaking. Again, we can think about it.> I'm sure my editors will be more than happy with the arrangement.
Great. Let them know that due to your hard work we managed to
get it in rather than have it rejected. Over at AMVs, if someone
sends in something unplayable it just... gets rejected. I've got more
leeway since I don't have nine hours of small films to deal with.
Just six.
> Thanks again! I know this will be a bigger hit than AMVS3 was last year.
I think the Geico and some of the other bits are great. I'm
still not a fan of this format (the mini-clip format) and I don't like
the test bars as a transition (kind of annoying and doesn't make any
sense!), but a lot of the bits are good. We'll see.

Oh happy news indeed! It was mighty cool of them to give us even the opportunity to fix it. (Although what they said about the AMV contest isn't quite true, VicBond always lists any AMVs with problems on the forum and lets people fix them, but that's beside the point)
Kinda made my night too that they specifically mentioned the Geico stuff.
Out of curiosity who else submitted to the AMV contest?

Ha ha indeed. I think my real AMV I submitted is one of the strongest I've ever made but...it's Otakon...and like only the best of the best of the best get in. *crosses fingers*Honou_Miko wrote:AWESOOOOOME.

Re: AMV Salad 4: TV Dinner (OTAKON World Premiere - 10pm 7.31)
Had it not been for the hard drive meltdown I'd have had a Elfen Lied / Muse "Assassin" video to submit. I can't say if I'd have made it in this year but I will have had a better chance than previous years.

Yeahhhhh, it's hit or miss because you never know what you're competing with.
I don't want to jinx myself - I'm PRETTY sure mine is good enough quality, but... I kind of uh... took advantage of the "no time limit this year" thing.
it's ten minutes and twelve seconds.
>_>
Seriously though I feel like I gave birth to that video, lol. I was sad when I finished it because it's too long for most contests, but as soon as I saw that Otakon lifted the time limit, I JUMPED ON THAT. D:

I was like thiiiiis close *makes tiny finger gesture* from making Commander In Heat my entry into the AMV Contest this year, but then decided I'd rather contribute it here.
