On a pc, you hit the Prt Scr (print screen) key at the top of the keyboard, that prints the desktop to the clipboard. Then you open Paint or other image editor, right click and paste the clipboard pict to the editor and you're set to go.
that doesn't seem to work for me since a fax page comes up and I don't have a fax machine....?

You must have some odd fax software on the machine that takes over the prt scr screen to use it as a fax start. check your programs with the start button and see if there is a fax listed, maybe in the accessories/ comunications or in the modem software. There may be a way to turn of the fax software.

PC World has lots of downloads available, free, trial, shareware, or to buy. A good place to look if you need software for some kind of use. They also have a quality magazine.
