Is there a screenshot program...

Postby Bloodseeker » Wed Sep 21, 2005 7:07 am

...that I can use to take screenshots of DVDs with? None of the programs that have been recommended to me in the past work, even when I turn off the video enhancing thing.

Import the footage into Premiere using avisynth, then export the frame to Tiff, and edit in photoshop or similair program to a JPG or Gif

or rip the vob to your computer, make an avs file and open it in vdub. Then select what images you want and "save image sequence"

What's wrong with the "Capture Screen" function of the DVD player software of your choice? I know Power DVD and Media Player Classic have one, all others should have it too.

Osaka's got the right idea. Just look for the screencap function, and paste it into your picture program (paint, photoshop, or whatever)

Mine don't have those features... and print screen has the same effect as those picture capture programs (I tried that before I tried any special programs)...

I'm gonna play around with some of the stuff that I saw on this site when I wake up and hopefully find something that works...

Try using DVD Decryptor and save the pics with DGIndex. The use paint to save them as .jpg or .gif

You can find virtual dub in the video editing guides on the main site. Look for the big guide and find it under software. It's pretty good for taking pictures out of video (and free), but you'll need to capture the video off the dvd first.

The same guide lists a few different programs for capturing the video off the dvd.

Power DVD does a good job but otherwise I use Virtualdub for my screencaps.

Maybe we're being 'too' helpful. Lets backtrack. What programs are you using now, and What are you trying to do?

I just go to my Windows Movie Maker
the caption says:Capture and edit digital media on your computer and then share your saved movies by,e-mail,the internet, recordable CD,
or on a DV video tape.
I never thought that there would be the day...when this this sig would be upgraded.

If you don't understand it at first don't feel bad it took me a while too.

A lot of computer DVD players have screen capture functions, but you usually have to upgrade for them. I use InterVideo WinDVD, but I had to upgrade to Platinum (about 50 bucks) before I could make screenshots. But for me, it was definitely worth the money ^_^ Now, whenever I'm watching a DVD, I just press 'P' and the shots are instantly put in a queue, where I can decide to save or delete them.
