mmmmm I usually play the game before watching the show. I actually have the game since it came with a limited edition artbook I wanted but no PS3 yet =P Would watching the anime take away from the game?

I chose the PS3 (despite not being a fan of Sony) just to buy this game ... and don't have any regret.

This anime is a really good surprise to me. They manage to provide a good realization and respect each character personnality so far.
Seiyuu casting is quite awesome (same than the game): I recognize voice used for Major Kusanagi as Varrot, Alicia's, and Isara & Welkin sounds somehow familiar too. If they keep following the game, voice actor for Maximilian will be same as Lelouch's.

ZephyrStar wrote:I'm really liking this show, looks like it could become really really epic.

Epic is the word that defines the best any scene of the game with a Valkyria involved.
Adapting it in anime format will be quite a challenge ...

So far the anime follows the game scenario with only few differences here and there.
That said, the battle system is what is really enjoyable in the game. So if you don't mind the spoiler I think you'll still enjoy the game thoroughly.

I was so psyched when this finally came out. The game was a masterpiece in artwork, plot & mechanics. The anime follows the story pretty well. The characters have more facial expressions, especially Welkin. I'm hoping they take elements from the notebook part of the game and develop the backstories.

Just a note about the game: 3 add-ons are now avalaible, since 16th April in Europe (and probably before in U.S.)

These additive contents are:
- A new battle mode call EX-hard, where Eldelweiss is not available and enemy position and forces completely differs.
- A small story where Edy (a secondary character, not yet seen in the anime except in OP and ED) acts as the commander.
- The conquest of Gharlandho fort by the empire ... where you play as Imperial soldier, and eventually with Selvaria!

The previews for episode 6 look hawt :awesome:.
"The people cannot be [...] always, well informed. The part which is wrong will be discontented, in proportion to [...] the facts they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions, it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to public liberty. What country can preserve its liberties, if it's rulers are not warned [...] that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants."-Thomas Jefferson

I swear. Alicia's many facial expressions seriously gives Yumi from Marimite a run for her money. Was Alicia ever like that in the original game?

Not as much "tsundere" as in the anime, but I like how they enhance this side of her.

May you want to see more about what they look like in the game, you shall visit:

Then in download section, there's a bunch of character introduction videos.

Ayako and most fansub groups are stuck in ep8,don't really know why...
Gleam has picked it up since ep9.

Alicia in ep10 was so damn cute...
Ep11 - how dare you hit her in the stomach you brute?
The prince in shining armor shall save her now... :D

It's interesting how they decide to do small changes in the scenario, that may have big influence on the story afterwards.
Spoiler :
Like the fact that Batomyr has not been destroyed in Barious desert.
And the presence of both Selvaria and General Gunther in Randgriz palace was most expected. And even more the cooperation with Welkin: in the game, battles are fierceful, almost all contacts with imperials are hostile, so this "friendly" arrangement is kinda ... surprising.
Some important characters are not present yet: the mecanic. Does this mean Isara will pilot the Edelweiss till the end?

But the biggest change concerns Princess Cordelia:
Spoiler :
The color of her hair! She's not a Darcsen! I wonder how the plot will be affected by that ...

Oh, and I want to see Marina do some headshots ... like the awesome sniper she is.

Biggest spoiler in an OP ever (for those who don't know the game).
That said, this new OP is awesome.

There is more and more differences with the game: though it makes me more interested in the anime, it's a bit sad to see that some interesting twists of the plot are being eluded ...

Haven't played the game and so when I was watching the 2nd OP I was like: "Woah, what is going on?Are they planning on spoiling everything for us even before the real fun begins?"

Still, the 2nd opening really kicks ass, both scene-wise and animation wise.Quite cool intro,it's really a pity that the anime doesn't score high in this domain so far... :(
