Senjou no Valkyria: Gallian Chronicles

Postby Full Metal Sempai » Thu Apr 09, 2009 4:44 pm

Finally,an anime using a war theme that doesn't include mecha but real ammo, tanks, grenades and rifles.
Based on armaments used so far,it could definitely fit in before the WWII period...

Taken from AniDB:
"When Imperial forces attack the small border town of Bruhl, Welkin Gunther, son of late General Belgen Gunther, is forced to fight for his life alongside Town Watch captain Alicia Melchiott. Along with Welkin's adopted sister Isara, the three escape to Gallia's capitol and subsequently join the country's militia forces. As members of the newly-formed Squad 7, they must work to repel the invading Imperial forces and discover the true purpose of the invasion itself.

An anime adaptation of the Japanese tactical role-playing game developed by Sega exclusively for the PlayStation 3."

Haven't played the game but I'm so watching the anime,at least for now.Hope it'll progress well...

First episode is out,I've checked Ayako's version and seems very good.
Opening and ending are nothing exceptional but not bad either.
Still, the dialogues must have been the most weird ever heard...especially the main male character talks nonsense practically 70% of the time.

Is Alicia's seiyuu the same as Minami Kana or is it my imagination? 8-)

The game was awesome and the anime is awesome. Yay they actually made an anime based on a console game that's good! Not that it hasn't been done before but not very often.

Already I love the characters. They really defined them well for the first episode!

You are not imagining it, Marina Inoue voices Alicia and Kana.

And Welkin does get lost in his love of nature. :D

The singer of the opening song is someone who used to post her karaoke on youtub3. I thought that it was really cool how she went to Japan and actually became a Jpop singer. Props to HIMEKA for her debut.

(warning: there are some game spoilers)

And yes, I am watching this and contemplating whether I should get a PS3 in order to get the game.

For some reason i REALLY like the animation in this series, particularly the shading. It makes it look like everything was colored from a sketchbook. The series seems ok so far but nothing amazing. The artwork in the game was amazing too. I'm definitely keepin up with it.
"The people cannot be [...] always, well informed. The part which is wrong will be discontented, in proportion to [...] the facts they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions, it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to public liberty. What country can preserve its liberties, if it's rulers are not warned [...] that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants."-Thomas Jefferson

The sklecthbook style was carried over from the game. It makes it feel that much closer to the original game, Of course I'm a fan of the game so I'm happy about this.

Cute girls with gewehr and tank, uguuuuuuu~

I'm really liking this show, looks like it could become really really epic. Some would make accusations of moe on the battlefield, but whatever. I LOVE the character designs.
