Here's a thread for the new FMA.

That was surprisingly good.

Spoiler :
The whole ice alchemist thing was pretty cool. Though he use steam more than he uses ice.

discussion on this is going on in the old FMA thread but i guess we can start a new one. I really hope this anime sticks to the manga (while the pilot episode was completely unrelated to the manga the makers may have just done that to get the series started as they expect everyone to already know all the characters).

Sort of a RAH! RAH! FULL METAL ALCHEMIST! RAH!

Then later on, Death... death... death with a side of depression. AND MORE ACTION!

I don't think that it's a good thing that they assume everyone knows the characters. Also, although they said it will stay true to the manga, I didn't really enjoy what I read (the first five volumes) of the manga. I everything was rushed in the manga.

The majority opinion is different I'm sure

I'm sure too, but everyone is entitled to their own opinion, right? So no one can convince me otherwise.

I really liked the swirly circle that Isaac drew, that was awesome, as was the effect it caused.

I'm waiting for the legal stream on Funimation's website and I'm really excited about this.

Cool, about 2 days left until the official stream. I'll probably watch it again from there, because I'm like that.

I never watched the first FMA, but I did watch the first episode of this one. Grant it, I don't know how it was in comparison, but I thorougly enjoyed the first episode.

If you're actually comparing the quality of first episodes, Ishbalan's rant is almost justified. You've already had like 5 major plot points spoiled. :/ If you were going to watch this anyway, watch the first series first instead, the animation isn't dated or anything.

So is this a remake or continuation of the series?

It's a remake to follow the manga, the first one deviated after a certain point because the manga wasn't done yet.
