Soul Eater

Keep an eye on this one; this could be Studio BONES' next shounen action hit series and with good reason! After seeing the uncut version of episode 1 (which is really not that different from the original broadcast :?).....

Blair wins.....episode over! :o

This episode mostly introduced a spunky girl Maka and her transforming-scythe partner Soul.
Basically, they were able to collect 99 souls, and they need one more which has to be a witch's soul in order for Soul to become a Death Scythe. They came across Blair's house whom they assume she's a witch and tried to defeat her. But Blair proved to be very tough since her powers (and her voluptuous body) overwhelmed them (especially with Soul's proneness of getting nosebleeds from getting his face smashed onto Blair's boobs).

In the end, they were able to defeat her and Soul ate her soul. That proved to be invalid because Blair was never a witch in the first place. She was really a cat (who can turn into a catgirl....YAY!!!!) with ridiculous amount to magic powers and 9 lives. And since Maka and Soul blew it, they had to start all over again.
And the animation and funky style BONES used is just so.....out of this world, I guess. I remember one blogger mentioning it reminded him of "The Nightmare Before Christmas" so I guess that makes it a good comparison to a certain extent. It definitely worth the look just for the visuals. Let's see how it fares for the next 50 episodes! :P

Of course this all depends if they female seiyuu for Maka improves over time because a lot of people were totally not pleased with her performance. Yes, this is her debut role, but her amateur voice acting was really prevalent.

This is gonna run 50 episodes? Might be worth me following then O:

I heard from a friend that he really enjoyed the manga, so I'll probably give this a 5 episode check and see if I want to keep following it.

I see potential. I was initially turned off because the mood of it seemed a bit like D.gray-man, which I dropped after about 40 episodes of dissatisfaction. However, this show intrigues me. As mal said, the animation style reminds me of Gurren Lagann, and the fight scenes are quite epic.

I'd take a scythe over a sword any day. :)

I'm gonna do an 8-episode check. The main thing about D.Grayman that I did not like was that the enemies were too cliche, and the good guys didnt have enough good qualities to make up for it. The only character I really liked from it was Tyki Mikk; every episode without him was painfully slow. I just couldn't watch anymore.

I'm hoping this won't happen with Soul Eater.

Yeah, if this series stays consistent, this could be the first 51-episode series I actually followed on fansubs. Of course if this gets licensed early (which I anticipate it will), all well! :|

Yeah, this series is just too damn cool.
-LOVE LOVE LOVE Blair, Black Star, and Tsubaki. Maka and Soul are cool too, and Death Kid and the cowgirls look like fun... but I'm already in love with the first three.
-The art style looks like the lovechild of Gurren Lagann and Tim Burton. Funky fresh, dude.
-EPIC FIGHTS. If this show stays consistent, this might be the only series I've ever followed on fansubs. Someone license this quick!

Well I didn't like D- Gray man from begin with. My fears are more that it'll turn out like gurren laggan :uhoh:

what means : Dammit funny and entertaining at the beginning and just painfull at the end

Episode 2 introduces Black Star and his transforming ninja weapon chick Tsubaki. And I have to say, Black Star's character is pretty much like Naruto with upped the loud, obnoxious level. The plot here wasn't really to write home about considering I was starting to get annoyed with his character.

(Tsubaki on the other hand.....in hot springs.......)

Next episode should be fu**ing hilarious since it introduces the emo, perfectionist gunslinger Death the Kid and his gun-transforming cowgirls, Liz and Patty Thompson!
