It was ok, pretty standard for a M@D though.

Can you like, take a little longer on your ef AMV? At least until I'm done with this one? xD

believe me i have not encountered a more challenging anime to edit with than ef, the thing is, a lot of the 12 episodes is dialogue and the parts without dialogue are scenes with in-build effects/presets that err skygraspher or whatever AE so to me its absolutely criticaly to understand why the author of the anime decided to use those tools to connect to his theme so I can incorporate them with my own AMV idea. I had originally finished the vid in mid december and submitted it to my home convention but i was really not happy with how it turned out and through various ppl betaing it im slowly revamping the entire thing....very slowly.... but yeah once again ef is a hard anime to edit, both technically and conceptually=| though it offers a lot of possibilities with keying. Good to see that you two are also working on an ef vid, I'm thinking someone like Bakadeshi will eventually do one when all the dvds are out, just seems to be his kind of anime, so I'm excited to see how these all will turn out in a couple or few months, I believe its one of those anime the .org has to know about through someone producing a good video to it so others will pick on watching and possibly editting it =)

Also bloody hell but I think the creditless OP will be released with the final dvds, you see each volume has 2 versions of the creditless ED I think they plan to do a creditless OP1 and put it along with creditless OP2 which if you remember has slight changes - the idea of 'breaking chains', so I guess both will be in the final dvd.

Agreed, I'm fairly certain the first few AMVs using it will more than likely fall under the same catagory, but given more time I'm sure we'll begin seeing some very original concepts, just because the anime is so unique.

Pah, as much as it sucks, I don't plan on using the OP in my AMV. It doesn't really fit into my concept, and the visual style of it is completely different to that used in the anime (excluding, of course, the masking scenes).

I HAS NO EXPERIENCE SUR.

One thing I found rather difficult is that, because I didn't want to stick to just making an overview of the plot in the anime, selecting scenes that go well together is extremely hard, because of the fact that the lighting in different scenes are completely different, and the colour scheme is emphasized so much.

I very much agree to this, a lot of the times I don't see a connection in scenes but in later episodes the connection is re-established in visual form, so sometimes I'm jumping around 2 different episodes just to connect a part of one scene to one of the other, for example what I've done recently is made the scene where Hirano is facing an opened door then immediately paralleling that scene to when Miyako is turning the door knob trying to force a similar door open because they use the same brightness and colour schemes, so am trying to make it seem like both are on different sides of the same door but conceptually one side is open and the other close - those are the kind of connections I'm referring to, so yeah it is definitely a challenge.

I'd like to use all 3 EDs and the OP as much as possible and see how it can be integrated with both the abstract visuals of the anime (black faces, particularly with Chihiro's story) and the actual 'normal' footage, I think this is what is going to determine whether an ef AMV will be a loop of a simple romance AMV or something very original and creative. I'm trying really hard to be in the second group, not saying that there is anything wrong with making a simple drama/romance AMV to ef, because it is that kind of anime, but there is so much potential for this anime as we can all agree on, the anime just needs to be brought out to the light to the good experienced editors through an AMV to start it all but thats lazy thinking, I should be aiming to do this with my AMV, too bad uni is eating away my editting time XD

Anyway thanks for the post Pas =)

I agree that it will be a major deciding factor as to whether or not it will be a brilliant or just good/bad AMV, and personally I'd like to make or see an ef - atom AMV made entirely from those artistic scenes, if done the right way it would be amazing. However, this will mark my first AMV ever on the org, so I don't really want to overextend myself and fall short of the mark >.>

Hahah, well mine is pretty much just a standard (possibly worse) romance AMV, I've tried to recreate the story to some degree, but it still ends with the same results, so nothing hugely out there. I only get like a few hours per week to actually work on it since uni is kicking me in the face... repeatedly.

I'm hoping I will release mine before you or FMS, or else it will get completely overshadowed xD;;

I was actually planning to upload a beta of it this week, but I didn't get as much done as I was intending to, and I am a noob so I can't compress it good. This will probably take me a lot longer than I initially planned it, and my computer dies a little each time I open the premiere file :/

I'd also be happy to beta-test your vids guys.Exchange of ideas is also quite welcome.^^
As for technical stuff,I'm also facing difficulties during editing both in scene selection(damn those dialogues all the time^^) and in existing effects of the anime that kinda ruin the mood at some times. As for the OPs and EDs I won't use them.

Truth be told,I don't plan to make anything original here, just a simple drama/romance covering both stories. After all,I began editing with Ef to get off a bit of my frustration due to studies and the hectic schedule I have for the past 6 months.
So far,I've made 33 seconds(yeah,it's pretty short but I edited it only like 3 times) but it's classic stuff and I'll surely re-edit it when I finish with exams. So don't worry Pas,you'll most probably finish it before me.That goes for Oropher as well unless I enter quick-editing mode... :D

Oropher,if it isn't a burden for you,I'd like to watch the original Ef amv you made. The one before the changes...

I would love to make an AMV with EF, but i know it would be so hard to edit. PLus if i made one i would make sure it was not slow ( mine tend to be slow lol) And that would be so hard. But man i was hooked to ef when i first watched the Promo!

BTW the promo song. For some reason i can not seem to find it. I got all the soundtracks from the show however that once song doesnt seem to be on them. I know it is called "Sorrowful Feather" I wanna make an AMV with that song. ( maybe with Ef also) LOL I think i want to do a Video with it (a place promised in our early days) and a Combo with Ef. HmMmMmMM i need get out of this lazyness.

I would love to see peoples betas! that would be so so so cool!!! Maybe if i start making one people could beta back.

I really just think this was a great show.. Maybe because i love the drama lol.
