Many of Rossiu's actions were logical, even reasonable. If not for his incarceration of Simon, his words that his actions were for the best of humanity would have been genuine, but in his imprisonment of Simon, he also locked away one of the fundamental delusions of humanity, that of hope. Thus, all that was left for humanity was flawed reason, short sighted logic, and despair.
