Romance Comedy along the lines of Love hina and Hayate the combat butler

The jist of the story is a boy visits his grandparents in the country near a shore called Seto, and he nearly drowns when he goes out to far, however a mermaid saves him. Only problem is, he saw this mermaid, and the Mermaid law dictates that any mermaid who is seen by a human will either have to die, or the person that saw her has to die. The only way to get around this, is to marry into the family. She decides to give herself as his wife, but she has a not too willing to see his daughter go to the clutches of a human father who also happens to be the leader of the mermaid equivalent of the Yakuza. Will he get out of this alive, with a father who is trying his best to get rid of him without his daughter catching on?

interesting series this is, Not what I was expecting when I blindly downloaded eps 1 on a whim, but wow  Its sorta like Hayate, but a little more love hina-ish on the violence how the girl sometimes treats the guy (whenever he does something perverted) and a little less over the top supid humor, though it does still have its fair share. Seems this is the year for comedy

I've seen upto episode 5 so far, and I like what I've seen so far.

and I LOVE the little maki-chan's persona     Poor sea-louse ;p

It's OK but the humor quickly becomes monotonous and and the same gags start to repeat. And it's barely up to episode 4 :?

It is upto episode 5 in raw, but I did mean 4 in my post. I didn't watch 5 yet.

I agree this series prob is not quite upto par to some of the other shows out right now, but I say Maki alone makes it worth it to watch ;p

Yeah, the opening ep kinda killed me and a friend laughing but now it seems to be drifting toward a more serious [or rather, not as funny] route and I'm starting to dislike it.

And also, HUMP SUZU ALREADY YA MORON!!!

damn, that previous post was for Airantou [doh]

Anyways, now that their settled in school... We see SHARK FUJISHIRO! Going human is one thing but when I realize he's the voice of Eddy from Guilty Gear [Koyasu Takehito, at least, to my ears], who's also infamous for a 'Shark' attack technique, it becomes quite humorous...

"There's no witness here, if I eat you right now, there'd be no evidence and I CAN GO HOME!!!!"

rrraAAAUUUGGHGHHHHH!!! *commence wild Chomping*

Airantou is running out of humor steam [and there's only so many nosebleed gags I can take before flipping on a good hentai], but DAMN Yakuza merman own the world! ^^

Masa is the man... Kinda like a manly version of Nabeshin, almost...

And Shark Fujishiro needs more teeth time on screen ^_^

I've been following this anime since its release, and here are my thoughts:

-The opening song was beautiful. I love it. It's new, refreshing, and catchy.
-The first four episodes were really good. They were really funny and lol.
-After that it gets kind of bland. It's not bland enough to become bad, but I get fewer laughts after every episode.
-Masa lol, that never gets old for me.
-Unlike Hayate no Gotoku, this is comedy not parody. Now I don't catch lots of punch lines in parodies since I'm not the kind of person who knows many Japanese culture and news or even American culture. It might be that there are more parody than comedy recently and that's why I'm not laughing as much.
-Luna turned from an annoying brat to someone intriguing and not so annoying anymore. Those songs were wonderful.
-It might be that the anime is taking a turn from comedy to drama like Nodame Cantabile, but unlike Nodame Cantabile, I don't expect it to get that serious. Or you know, maybe I just don't have a sense of humor.

I mentioned that they did a 'perfect' Terminator parody [that bathroom fight is God-like, come one!] and my friend said "You've GOT to show me" and I said, "I'll show you even if it kills you! muahahahaha"

I hope they pick it up again. You are right in that it gets less funny but the moment that "A big 2M tall man dressed in black with shades and a shotgun" description appeared, I was just clutching my guts laughing the whole way.

NO ANIME in recent few months made me laugh THIS hard. It was predictable humor and you're just sitting there wondering DO IT DO IT?! And then, they do something 'worse' lol

I'll stomach crazy, they just parodied Godzilla to a degree...

[and yeah it was GODZILLA-like... ^_^]
